Fighting for Delve in Merch has been a blast. We're right on the front lines of this thing and not a night goes by where something doesn't happen.
And if you're thinking about doing a free trial, either ask somebody in Merch to send you a buddy program request. You'll get a longer free trial that way and they'll get a free month if you decide to subscribe.
Has recruitment been closed or am I doing the recruitment process incorrectly? :[ Maybe I just suck and am not allowed in who know! Twice being rejected I figured maybe I should ask before I slowly fade away into nothingness.

A friend of mine who I just invited is having the exact same issues, too. Get's d/c'ed from the server exact same time as I do and also has major lag issues. Bleh.
Cannot even connect to server, yet my internet is fine and clearly it cannot be a firewall issue or anything of that sort as the game was running fine....
So I guess I'll try again tomorrow - thank God for skill queue...
Aha! Now it has started saying: start up in 400 secs. I guess there was a crash of some kind.

Yes, you are. Right now to be recruited you need to either have a person from the forums vouch for you or be an established member of the forums (as in not being a day old forum account with 2 posts total).

to clarify you need a person from the merchi corporation to vouch for you or be an established forum member.
So did the initial tutorial and doing the career tutorials now. Maybe stupid questions, but the early tutorials don't really go super deep into everything.
The random stuff I might get from missions and whatnot (like I have 5 lasers right now for my ship). Is there a way to just "vendor" that kind of stuff? Or is even low level stuff like that worth putting on the market? Any caveats I should know before trying to use the market?
In combat, I target-lock, orbit then fire? I understand it'll get a bit more complex once I get better ships/modules but is that the jist of it now? Or am I missing something?
Also, not really a question. But JESUS the map in this game... JESUS!
But yeah... I'm liking it better this time around. Probably cause it's been like 4-5 years since I tried it last time and I'm looking for something different out of a game now.
Any other suggestions from vets? Anything I should be trying to do or that would be helpful in the early days for me?

You probably don't need to bother selling stuff in empire. Once you're in the corp and down in 0.0, people will be glad to drown you in isk if you ask. Other than that, read the goonswarm wiki a lot, you'll learn tons that way.
Alright, I probably set off everyone's spy flag... I'm deleting my character and starting over again. I want to experience the "standard" parts of EVE like the war effort, militia, agent missions etc. etc. before committing my "career" in EVE to the Merchi/GoonSwarm domination.
Huh? Unless I'm missing something, there's no reason we'd look at you as a spy. If it's taking a while to apply your application, that happens sometimes. If someone straight up called you a spy, that happens constantly. It's practically how we say hello.

I can never see a good reason to delete to be honest. Make a new character? Sure. But you'll never 'regret' the skills you've already got, they have some use. So just take your toon back to whereever and do whatever it is you're looking to do.

Helps if you bothered to follow the rules and at least look like you would fit in, by reading the rules and knowing not to sign your posts. *bodysnatcher noise and point*

some people never really get it. and those people wont have fun in goonswarm.
I'm going to hit up a station to apply tonight, but I'm a 12 mil SP Caldari spy. I can't use EVEmon at work, (or access the EVE website) but I fly caldari, and have my skills geared towards black ops and e-war. I've done a little bit of pvp in Faction Warfare (blah) and hunting pirates in lowsec waaaaaay back in the day.
My forum account isn't two days old, but I don't post on here much. Until my xbox shat itself I was rolling with the PA l4d guys, though.

What kind of skills are for black-ops and e-war? I've been reading the goonfleet wiki, but the publicly viewable pages (the only ones I can read at the moment) just have basic stuff for starting out.

The ability to fly cov-ops/recon/black ops(the BS class if the name is wrong) ships and most of the skills in electronics. Also engineering for boosted cap and cap regen(at least I think it's in engineering, I didn't do much last night other than re-up and start stuff training again). They also have specific e-war ships, but I'm going to guess that they are way too expensive to throw into pvp since they are frigs.
At least, that's what I have/am working on (I can't quite fly recon yet I don't think).
One of these guys will have to give you a better idea for like 0.0 warfare, etc. Especially since my account has been on/off for years. What I've done previously is scout systems ahead of cargo ships or gangs in a cov-ops. Probably not nearly as complicated as what these guys do, but it was alot of fun to be out on my own looking for trouble before it got there. The rest of it is ecm type stuff in a blackbird in support of gangs.
Theoretically, recons can also by used to create cyno fields for surprises (since they can cloak), but I don't know how effective that actually is. All my experience is with small corps, and low-sec alliances. My last corp was working on trying to get out to 0.0 (rent space and set up) but RL took over and I had to cancel my account. Which is part of why I'd like to get on with merch since they are right in the thick of the shit.
Well I mean, what do you do as a black-ops/recon? Fly around cloaked and shit? I have no idea just curious about different aspects of the game :P
well, that depends.
There exists a pair of ship types called the Covert Ops Frigate and Recon Cruisers. These ships are designed to use a "Covert Ops Cloaking Device" which let's them warp around while still cloaked (most ships can fit a basic cloak, but cannot warp while using it). The cruiser models also make pretty decent combatants in the right situations, while the frigates are made of wet cardboard and should be kept out of battle and used purely as a scout.
"Back-Ops" can also refer to small but powerful gangs, using heavy combat ships (T2 Cruisers, extremely well fit battlecruisers, etc) usually fitted with cloaks (to hide) acting as a raiding force, flying into enemy territory (Some even live there), blowing shit up, harassing, and generally making the enemy hate their guts as they don't get a moment's peace. They're kinda like WWII U-boats, aimed at harming the enemy economy. Not a job for new guys however.
Oh, and Black-Ops battleship class, but those suck.

Sweet. Well, other than the whole monetary consideration. I should be within a week or two of recons. And not much more than that for HACs. Of course, having started life as a shitty carebear, I have about 2 mil in missiles and unless something has changed recently in pvp with the last few content patches missiles blow outside of missions/ratting.
well, official or not, wandering around cloaked and ambushing shit is good times for all. I really wish I could hit any of the info sites from work (includes the official). I need to look at my skills and see where to go from here.
Well king, assuming merch accepts me (you sound already in it) a month or two down the line when we can both fly that shit as long as it doesn't piss anyone off(meaning that the bosses ok it) we can try and get our own little unofficial black ops raids going. Just need a couple more ninja wannabe's and we are set.
Actually, that sounds like retarded amounts of fun and mayhem. Must make more money.
The downside of reactivating my account was realizing I have all these great ships in empire, and am only sitting on like 3 mil isk. I really wish I had the patience to mine. The last time I re-upped I moved away from all my decent contacts and was running shit missions for rep, so I could start making money again. The first couple times you run an assault ship through a lvl 1 contact's mission is kind lulzy, but after that it feels like kicking the shit out of 5 y/os.
Hah, sadly it can take a while to reach certain things. However, decent planning means you can arrange step ups in awesomeness. For example, my current 4mo plan gives me a new awesome every month. In a few days a shiny new Amarr Battlecruiser skill set to rat with. One month from now, awesome Tech 2 guns for my minmitar cruisers and battlecruisers. Second month, tech two cruisers (HACs). Third month, some generalist skills to make me more awesome (biggest being Tech 2 drones), fourth month, covert ops frigates and scan probes.
Plus as mentioned, even with a brand new guy, with a day or two of skill training at most you can be slamming through space in a tackling frigate going several kilometers a second, screaming at an enemy battleship praying you can get a web and point (immobilizing him and preventing him from warping away). Then praying your allies can arrive and blow him to pieces before he somehow slags you.
And in a month or two, with the right skill plan, you can be flying Interceptor frigates, which do the same thing, but better, faster, harder, stronger (but not really more durable! though speed is a good defense against big ships. and with a heftier price tag! Tackle Rifter: 200k, Interceptor: 20mil!). And they're coincidentally a step on the path to HACs.
Just talk to a veteran for ideas and try to work out a nice plan of "baby-steps of awesomeness".

Uhm, well you're interested in PvP right? first thing you want to do is be able to use a tackling frigate. You get into Merch and gain access to the forums and wiki and stuff you can dig through them for lots of useful info.

You can use the Assets button when on a station to get a list of everything you own and their locations.
ballin thank you
It's to hard to target you while your sitting in Feth and we're in Delve
that happens when you conquer abandoned regions and then sit back hi-fiving each other for being an elite pvp alliance.
efb, seeheld.
Scrap that. Tomorrow. Must go food shopping now it seems.....
Is this the norm when a major expansion comes along and takes maybe a few days or a week or two to smooth out?
