Battlefield 2142 jerkiness

I've been playing BF2142 and I've noticed that very often my view will spazz out and flip around in a completely different direction, sometimes facing up, sometimes facing down, sometimes 180 degrees and down, which isn't very helpful when I'm getting shot at.

I've up'd a video to Youtube here.

My mouse is pretty sensitive, yeah, but you can see that I get my bearing, run towards the tank and then my view snaps left and then right so that I'm all of a sudden running towards the fucking building.

This happens only in this game, and you can see that my game runs otherwise extremely smooth and fluid. It happens while driving, flying and on foot.

You can see here the ping I have to the servers I play on. It doesn't matter which server I play on, it happens all the time!

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this shit?

I've had that happen on a couple servers, and I recall updating something (which fixed it), though I can't remember if it was display drivers or mouse drivers or what. Have you updated either recently?

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

Video and sound are up to date and my mouse drivers are magically updated automatically, like, once a month or so...

Do you have a shiny mousepad or a poor surface?

At work, when they gave me my computer, they also gave me the stock dell mousepad. I'd run into problem where suddenly my mouse cursor would fly across the screen. I finally found a tech note on Dell's site that said you shouldn't use the supplied mouse pad because of this.

    /me shrugs

Tacopants - a tasty comfortable combination.

I had the exact same thing happening when I used to play desert combat all the time.

Like TheCapn said, it turned out to be from using a poor surface. I was using a dell optical mouse with no mousepad on a really old wooden desk with no finish. I didn't really notice it jerking outside of battlefield, but looking back I guess it was the only game I played where I was using the mouse the whole time, so I dunno.

But yeah, looking at your video it looks like the same stuff. I'd be running for a jeep and suddenly i'm looking at the ground spinning.. flying a plane and suddenly do a random barrel roll. Led me to much frustration, let me tell you...

What was weird was sometimes the mouse would get "stuck" moving in the x-axis even when I wasn't touching it. I could have some fun with this by navigating to a shilka or vulcan and driving like a jackass with the 360 degree turret spinning around at 100 miles an hour. Good times indeed.

It's a bug in Titan mode. If the commanders move the Titans after the shields go down, crazy riddiculous lag like this occurs, even when you're not on the Titan.

    ...

Yeah, I'm pretty pissed at EA too.

    It's DICE's fault.

Anyways, I can't really say if I've noticed this bug in conquest mode or not. Normally I don't have any trouble with titan mode, even being on the titan, but last night it was fucking horrible. I tried placing demo packs and they'd fall 15 meters INTO the titan before "sticking".

And, like I said, it's not my mouse, otherwise it would be happening all the time. I have no mouse surface, just my desk, which isn't shiny by any means, is clean and not too slick/rough.

Thankfully, that crazy bug will be fixed.
There are some other fixes coming too.

That's not a bugfix, that's a lazy workaround hack. It would be as if someone figured out an exploit that allowed them to jump 100 feet into the air, so they just disable jumping to "fix" it. Next, they'll probably discover that moving and shooting causes lag, so they'll disable that, too!

I tried Conquest mode, and it was doing the same jerky shit, albeit not as much. It's wierd, BF2142 is the only game I have problems with...

I don't know why people say this, but EA pretty much bought out DICE this year. DICE Canada (the main group that made Battlefield 2 what it is) was kicked off, and DICE was migrated into EA. There really is no "DICE" anymore. Just some greedy motherfuckers.

And your problem is due to lag. 2142 has a lot of it. All Battlefield engine games seem to give you wacky movements when there's high latency
