So, this is going to be awkward, but whenever I typically use a condom they never break, however tonight with the same girl I had two break in a row, one of them with a loud SNAP, the other just kinda came undone at the top.... They were the Torjan Magnum XL ones.... Was wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong that's causing these to break, or if its just bad condoms? Recommendations on some that don't break?
Anyways, if you really do need XLs (girth-wise) then there aren't very many other options because they are the widest latex condoms that are readily available. I believe Durex makes an XL size, as do Lifestyles. Try those out if you don't think you're too thick for them.
I would definitely switch brands. I've never used that kind, but if they're breaking on you, something's definitely not right.
Also... lubricants. Oil based or water based? Always, always, always remember that oil based lubricants can ruin the integrity of condoms. (Just in case you didn't know)
My bad. Not up on all my varieties and OP said "Torkan". Try a different variety, tho since you're having breaking issues avoid any of the "thin" ones.
Edit: I'm not going to start a discussion that might lead to another H/A thread about dick size. But make sure you really NEED that magnum XL. If you're condom is too big, this can cause issues just like one that's too small.
Lucky girl my ass, she's tight as a glove... I've been using the magnums for awhile now and never had the damn things break until tonight, let alone two... Only condom I've ever had break was one I got out of a gas station bathroom one day for the hell of it...
Lube wise we're talkin natural juices on that one... I'm thinkin' that might be more the issue there... :S
Durex are pretty reliable. Give them a shot. Magnum XL huh? Lucky girl.
Actually if I remember correctly Durex XL aren't much wider than an average condom. If he really does wear Mag XLs (and need to wear them) then the Durex ones will be too tight. Try out Lifestyles XL.
Not sure if you're doing this or not, but make sure you pinch the tip while putting the condom on, or there won't be a little air pocket in there to contain your love juice. This is the most common reason why a condom would break. If you're putting it on properly, then I have no idea. Never had one break on me, but then again XLs aren't necessary in my case :winky:
You're making me feel like a freak for having to use XLs now
Don't worry about it too much. Although I have to admit from some cashiers reactions and comments (where the hell did professionalism go?) I just buy them online now. Less annoying.

Ever wink at a cute cashier and give her your number?
The natural juices as lube might be a problem, but it probably isn't, as long as she's doing her job right.

Was the box brand new? Maybe it was just an old or defective box. If not test out another one or two(if it's a big box) and see if it has the same problem. Perhaps it was a defective box? If another breaks without using it improperly call the company.
Try the large Durex variety, I believe they are called Maximum's or something to that effect (it's been a while since I've had to buy any). I also had problems with the Magnums - something about them was never right after a couple boxes, and breaking them was routine. After switching to the Durex I never had any probs.

I don't really think it's safe to "test out" some possibly risky condoms. Might not be the best decision, if, you know, you are using them because you don't want them to break.
Pill doesn't cover STIs. It's also definitely a good idea to have a brand of condoms you're comfortable with, even if you won't be using them in the current setup. And the pill isn't 100% effective, if you're not comfortable with that chance.

HER job?! Her physical arousal is as much his job as it is hers. But if it's not a lubrication issue, try custom sized condoms! Condomania.com has them.
By the way, was she drunk? Guess what: alcohol reduces vaginal lubrication. Simple equation: drunk sex - lube = higher risk of condom breakage.
And I dunno if you need to be told this, but let's play it safe: use water-based lube (like KY), not petroleum-based lube, which weakens condom material.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.
as for OP, try a different brand, or even just a different box of the same brand to check if it was just a defective box
give this a shot. i've used Trojan's Magnum XLs for years without one breaking on me. Two in a row out of the same box suggests a bad lot to me.
If you still have the package, see if there is a lot number on it. If there is, you can call the company to report your problem, and see if there have been other reported problems for the lot.
Also, just to be safe, get tested. Peace of mind now, peace of mind if this happens again.
Not to call shenanigans on you, but are you sure you need that size? How big are you, infact? It could also be that the condoms are too small, although I'd be surprised.
I ask because I know I hate regular condoms as they "choke" me at the base, and besides actually hurting, it can cause erection issues. However, I really don't think using bigger ones would work too well, for the exact issue of breaking.
The only time I've had condoms break has been when the top gets folded over a bit, there wasn't sufficient lubrication, and the action was too intense. The condom ends up sliding UP the penis (towards me) rather that inside her, then on the withdrawl stroke it stays put on me and slides on her, then slides up on me again, etc until its too tight and breaks.
BTW, you're the guy that has threesomes with your wife and random girls, and you apparently need magnum condoms too?

Fuck You.
:P
C'mon now Steve, he's just really lucky. Women can sense his giant cock through his pants and they just throw themselves at him, and his wife's so mesmerized by the amazing giant cock sex she gets ALL THE TIME that she's ok with it. Duh.

Hey, were the two that broke from the same package? Didja check the expiration date? if they've been sitting on the drugstore shelf too long they get brittle and can break. Had that happen to me once. Fortunately they were the lubricated kind, so we knew something was wrong when we pulled then out and they were dry. Didn't use them, thank god. Had to do other stuff instead.

Fuck Trojans. I saw more of those damn things break in two years... I've had much better experience with durex. Been using them for about 7 years, and they are much better.

Damnit guys, stop giving him the real answer. I want him to think the problem is his condom so I can find out how large his penis is... Just for .. records.. You know.

I didn't mean use it on her. He said even putting one on that it broke. Just put it on himself and see with a reasonable amount of stress if it just breaks again. Something may have weakened them.
Most likely he should just throw that box out and get another one. He said he's been using them for awhile without problems. Unless something has changed it's more likely he got a bad batch than has been doing something wrong.
Hobbit, you've got to stop baiting us. I already got infracted over this damn thread once today.
All bedroom things are possible with the liberal application of lube. Don't blame the condom or the vagina, just oil up and get down.
But don't use oil. Use water-based. Remember that when using a condom, it's very important.
Thy's comment above just brought up another point. I think condoms are temperature sensitive as well if i'm not mistaken. Has the box been exposed to extreme heat or cold?

"Well, I did leave the box in my pocket when I ran my coat through the dryer on high..."
It could happen! Or if he left it in an area that's unheated (inside a car, or in an unheated room in the house) in a cold region where temperature drops below freezing regularly.
Even the store he got it from could've mishandled it in that manner. It's hard to say decisively.
EDIT: Apparently it's still up for grabs as to the effect it has on condoms... http://shelved.blogspot.com/2008/01/stiffening-in-cold-more-on-condoms-in.html suggests that there may be a problem with it, but it also points out that condom companies deny that there is such a problem, even though they tell distributors not to store it in cold environments either.

"Torkan" is a misspelling of Trojan (keyboard). he was typing too fast.
