I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our forum.

Some years ago, a great PA forumer, in whose Tube-like shadow we stand today, signed the Forum Christmas Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of forumers who had been seared in the flames of withering SE++ threads. It came as a joyous daybreak to end the long night of their captivity.

But years later, the forumer still is not free. Years later, the life of the forumer is still sadly crippled by the manacles of segregation and the chains of thread discrimination. Years later, the forumer lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. Years later, the forumer is still languished in the corners of Penny Arcade society and finds himself an exile in his own land. And so we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

In a sense we've come to this voting thread to cash a check. When the architects of our forum wrote the magnificent words of the Terms of Service, they were signing a promissory note to which every Forumer was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all forumers, yes, SE++ Forumers as well as D&D Forumers, would be guaranteed the "unalienable Rights" of "Christmas Threads, Mistletoe, and the pursuit of Reindeer." It is obvious today that the Penny Arcade Forum has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of the forums are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, the forum has given the forumers a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient funds."

But we refuse to believe that the bank of Christmas Spirit is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this forum. And so, we've come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of single-forum congregation and the security of Christmas merriment.

We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind the Penny Arcade forum of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of a single, unified Christmas Board. Now is the time to rise from the dark and desolate valley of segregation to the sunlit path of forum integration. Now is the time to lift our forum from the quicksands of separate subforums to the solid rock of Candy Cane-flavored brotherhood. Now is the time to make justice a reality for all of Cardboard Tube's children.

It would be fatal for the forum to overlook the urgency of the moment. This chilling winter of the forumer's legitimate discontent will not pass until there is an invigorating Christmas of unification and equality. Two Thousand and Eight is not an end, but a beginning. And those who hope that the forumer needed to blow off steam and will now be content will have a rude awakening if the forum returns to business as usual before the end of the Christmas season. And there will be neither rest nor tranquility in the forum until the forumer is granted his Christmastime integration. The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our forum until the bright day of justice emerges.

But there is something that I must say to my people, who stand on the holly-laden threshold which leads into the palace of Egg Nog: In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for unification by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again, we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the forum community must not lead us to a distrust of all Admins, for many of our Administrator brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

    We cannot walk alone.

And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead.

    We cannot turn back.

There are those who are asking the devotees of Christmas Forum Concatenation, "When will you be satisfied?" We can never be satisfied as long as the forumer is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of separate subforums at Christmas. We can never be satisfied as long as our avatars, heavy with the weight of Santa Claus hats, cannot post in the threads and polls of a single Christmas forum. We cannot be satisfied as long as the forumer's basic mobility is from a smaller subforum to a larger one. We can never be satisfied as long as our forumers are stripped of their self-hood and robbed of their dignity by a sign stating: "For SE++ Only." We cannot be satisfied as long as a forumer in Help/Advice cannot post and a forumer in Critical Failures believes he has no association with other subforums. No, no, we are not satisfied, and we will not be satisfied until "justice rolls down like waters, and righteousness like a mighty stream."
