The best strategy for big daddies is to attach mines onto explosive barrels and throw them at then while you make them charge at you down a corridor mined with proxy mines.

i'm not very far into the game
so far my big daddy strategy is proxy mines + machine gun and incinerate or electro bolt 2 + probably a few deaths
my first big daddy experience was quick and painless, they are much faster than they look

big daddies go from retardedly hard, to very simple quite quickly

But you see, having them charge down on you with the explosives going off and you freak out thinking that you didn't plant enough then the final one also blowing up a gas tank killing it and have it's body suddenly fly past your shoulder and into a bookshelf is pretty goddam cool.
But the easiest way to kill one is just get hypnotise big daddy, drag one to another one and make them fight, make sure yours wins, harvest the little sister then follow the other one back and kill him with bugger all life left as well and harvest his little sister.
that's why you think that rigamarole is the "easiest"
blast it with electric gel, it's super awesome and you feel like egon spengler

Maybe, I just didn't really like the weapon when I first got it, mind you at that stage it only had fire and ice modes and they seemed a little shitty.

but i always fell back to the shotgun as my default
it's just so lovely
It's pretty useful
on hard or higher it takes more than a full charge to kill a big daddy
and here I am on vacation, with no access to steam
