Heh, I love Max and Miriya. Everybody else is all "oh no, an AI super-fighter, that is scariness!" and they're both going "Oooh, I wanna fight it now."
I just fought the Destroy in SRW Z. It was easier than I though it would be with three active bosses on the field. As always Nirvash and Gekkostate units are key players by attracting most attacks to them. I think they only got hit once. They are the best.
Oh, and yes Kira is still a dick. What a fucking ass
I really think I could talk the anime-license companies into letting an alpha-series release happen if I had a title and a company's name to get me in the door. There's no better way to jump the sales of series that haven't been new for ten years.

Killing Stellar like that.
Not like Stellar was a great pilot, anyway, since apparently once dancing off a cliff makes for ace pilot material.
So I've never quite figured out, do the effects of Prevail just not register into the displayed hit/evade percents?
I'm reasonably sure that it is counted into the percents shown. The best example of this I can recall is actually in OG2...
Fighting the Inspectors for the first time outside of Neviim. As you whittle Sikalog's HP down, his hit and evade rates are drastically better when his HP falls into the 10-20% range than they are when his HP is full.

Prevail does kick in. I found myself deciding to hit a certain boss with say, Cybuster. I learned that it isn't enough to finish off the guy and he had a good chance to hit. OK, so I switch to Hikaru for a second and wittle down his HP to a sliver with a missile salvo. Then I go back to Cybuster.
....My chances of hitting suddenly dropped like a rock.
Holy crap. I think Jiron has insane prevail or something (Though I'm not seeing it on his ability screen. Maybe it was translated into Guts? I'll have to look at other pilots.).
His health got brought down to 24 and now NOTHING can hit him.

Also, Clawshrimpy, I cede to your point about the Gundam DX being awesome. In one fortuitous encounter, it did the infinite MAP attack and hit two rows of enemies and killed all of them for about 10000 damage each. Holy fuck.
Also, is the Prevail pilot skill you're all talking about called 「底力」 (Potential)? Because if it is, it does indeed make a big difference once you get down to...20% life was it? It's particularly useful on Real Robots I think.
I only have the non-scale Daizengar. The 1/144 one will have to wait. A really long time. I mean after Daizengar I need to build Grungust Type 0, and then after that I can't have any more because it will be time to go back to school.

This is in regards to the translated version of Alpha Gaiden. I'd need to compare.

I just sort of wished I had known a super-sweet giant 1/144 version was coming or I'd probably have passed on the non-scale and picked up something like the Huckebein Boxer.

I still want to track down a Cybuster, an R-2 and both a Wildfalken and Wildwurger. And Wildbrautier and Wildschwein. I already have a Huck III.

Stupid bills and that pesky need to eat every other day or so prevented me from jumping on the Perfect Change Cybuster when it came out.
Also... geez. Alpha Gaiden just throws units at you. Normally I can handle the sheer numbers that SRW have, but they don't give you any time to see how half of them are.
Also, I have no idea what Galaxy Cyclone Braiger is. But I automatically find it amusing, if only for the fact that even the Getter Team wonders how it works.

It has a whole lot of points of articulation, making balancing it pretty easy provided you think about it and experiment a little. It's not an accident that its feet are spread that wide, for one thing.
And yeah I've been just sticking with the units I know. I use the Wing Gundams a lot, especially Zero and Tallgeese III, Hikaru, Fokker, Max and Miriya see a lot of action, Viletta gets in on every fight, Ryusei will too if he gets a decent mech at some point, Super Gundam with Roux and Four gets used almost every mission because they seem to be incredibly effective, now that I have Isamu and Guld they'll be making a lot of rosters, etc. I honestly almost never use any of the super-robots because so far none of them are from anything I've been a fan of.

It's funny. The game actually gives Ryusei shittier mechs if you get more skill points. Easy mode sees him getting an MP Grungust, for instance. This is the case with most of the mechs you uncover later on, except Hi-Nu.

Meh, I'll worry about the battle masteries on new game +.
Probably for the best. The game can be brutally difficult to retain Hard mode, and a lot of the Easy mode stuff you get is fantastic. Sazabi, Zeta II, and the ZZ FA parts (ZZ Gundam is basically useless without them) particularly.
Jet Magnum is a pretty good reason to have a Gespenst.

Damn it Masaki.
So they sent him out on recon. He gets lost, as expected. The Argama crew gets into an argument about it. Cybuster is best-suited for long-range recon, one says. They even modified its nav system to help Masaki finds his way back! They apparently even gave it autopilot if it gets bad enough.
Torres retorts, "What good is it if the pilot can't find his way back?"
Alteisen Riese is awesome because it's quite literally a pile of weaponry thrown on a robot and hoping it can stand up afterwords.
Heh, that was Alteisen. Riese is "okay, let's keep throwing more on there past the point where it can stand, then add the thingy that makes normal mechs fly so that it can stay upright".
Edit: Oh, and according to youtube, Ryusei will eventually getting a good mech, thank whatever.

Oh. Crap. I just shat myself. Mission 9. Second half.
"What's wrong. Do I frighten you? I guess I have to do things the hard way."
...and Shu advances. With the Neo Granzon. Guld promptly smacked him in the face with a limiter release ram and dodged the counter.

Man, that 1/144 Daizengar is so awesome.
I've got the non-scale version, but I'm really tempted to spring for the new one.
Spoiler'd for kindabig

Here you guys go. It's a really awesome guide for the skill points and hidden mechs:

Fortunately, Hard mode is still worth it in the end just for Thrudgelmir.

Especially with Ryusei who excels at Melee.
Then, after managing to beat that monster, it seems I have ended up in a western with giant robots.
Awesome.
"I'll show you I'm not just some red-shirt!"
<One Drill Pressure Punch later>
"Aw man, I knew I was just a red-shirt!"
<Boom>
