One thing the Architect should do is get the other tilesets out too. Almost all my missions are clean office, cave, or Oranbega. Occasionally I get some other tileset and I'm all excited, only for it to disappear forever - back to Oranbega yay!

Tank for a one-two melee team or a defender so you can buff him while he does all the hard work.

    Or make another scrapper.

So apparently in that thread is a link to the Mission Maker powersets Attacks and secondaries

Will someone with an eye/head for the numbers tell me how close these are to the player values?

Pretty much anything will compliment him except an energy blaster or storm/energy defender as the knock back will screw over melee characters pretty hard.
Personally, I'd suggest a controller. Especially at low levels, the ability to stop one or two guys from attacking the scrapper will come in handy as will the buffs from the secondary.
Mid levels you'll be mostly buffing(especially if you went /kinetics) and healing him while throwing down controls to lock up runners while your scrapper buddy finishes his job.
Once you get your pet though (32) you'll be back in the party (unless you went Grav/ or Mind Control/ in which case you still won't be killing worth shit).

Yeah I think I might try a controller. I made a db/wp scrapper and leveled him to 3 and then realized it was just like playing my brute. Well my scrapper was a tall dashing figure in a tuxedo (The Consummate Gentleman) wielding dual blades of death, and my brute is an 8 foot tall mass of stone (Basalt the Fist, lead hitman for the Igneous crime family) with a slow massive hammer of death...also in a suit, apparently my idea of a super power includes being ready to attend a wedding or prom at a moments notice. But anyway, might as well try a different playstyle for some variety so I don't hate myself when I go solo on my villian, and make a controller....in a tux

Ya know, I usually joke around about Mr. Vitruvian spending most of his time punching Rikti in the face, but it dawned on me sometime around my 100th Vanguard Merit that I do this for almost every character I roll.
Kaluza-Klein spent 4 solid months hanging out in Striga Isle. I figured around month 3 that if The Council had spent the last three months seeing a small purple alien briefly before he disappeared into the ether and then hearing about other bases around the island having their personnel hurled every which way, he'd go down in Vampire Urban Legend.
This was all while I was messing around in Siren's Call including an all night raid where we managed to get a team *into* the Villain's base, which might as well have gotten him a Key To The City for all the good he did.

So am I the only one that narrows their focus to one villain group, or is this just because it's taking me two years to get Vitruvian to 50?

My main, Saint of Dreams, usually fights the Circle of Thorns. He's now kinda crazy rich for his level - all that magic salvage.

Most of my characters concentrate on one enemy.

I really like 'street-level' superheroing so I wish teh skuls lasted until level 50...

That's because your main was a MM.
"Hey look, Rikty! Go forth, my bots, and destro... aw fuck, I'm mezzed, and they spread out, and now I get to watch the pets take 15 fucking minutes to kill them all..."

[edit] Do all mobs have the ability to fire off a mezz even when they themselves are mezzed, or is that just Rikti? It pissed me off how I fire off Fearesome Stare whilst out of their detection range, yet they all instantly fired off their mezz as they got feared. That's some Max Payne "olol I'll turn 180 degrees and shoot you in the head the moment you enter the door" bullshit right there.

Isn't that how fear works in game? Its not a hold or sleep, it will allow them to occasionally get off attacks - specifically one attack when you cast it and most times they are hit.

It reduces their attack rate to once every five (ten?) seconds or something, and debuffs their tohit. Well. Fearsome Stare debuffs their tohit. It's like a giant off switch.

My 50 DM/DA Scrapper fought many CoT on his way to the top. The only thing that bothered him were the to-hit debuffs, which sucked. So I got into the habit of Holding/Fearing the debuffer and hoping. Quicksand wasn't an issue (hover + fly, yay!) and nothing else really hurt that badly.

Then I realised how effective he was against Malta and Carnies, and sorta went in that direction instead. Getting hit by a Sapper is so funny. It sorta tickles!

If your fear doesn't do a damage component they should immediately cower, which is why Fearsome Stare is fantastic. It can fear up to bosses, and they generally won't retaliate.

Except that Rikti will get their mezz before being feared (Fearsome Stare, no damage component, no damage proc IOs). And yes, they are feared after doing it, so it doesn't just miss.

It sets up a thing whereby they can't attack unless they are attacked first. So you fear them, you attack once, they get to attack once, etc etc and such and on. So if you're a bots/ MM then your AoEs negate a lot of the damage mitigation of a fear.

It's not about damage mitigation as much as it is about crowd control. Bots are AoE and shit at single target focus fire (since you don't really want to drop Bodyguard when facting 8 person spawns of purples you need to set up spawns for them instead), so Fearsome Stare allows you to fear them, then set up a Tar Patch before the bot damage scatters them out of effective groups. Did some of them not get hit? They'll just stand there nice and quiet, waiting their turn.
And let's not forget that it allows you to handle patrols or oversized groups, since it keeps those out of damage range stationary and harmless.

That's not actually how it works. I tried it out with Cloak of Fear and Death Shroud once, to see if they'd attack every time Death Shroud did. They didn't. They still attacked back, but not every time they are attacked, just very very rarely. Also, if an attack has a DoT component, it doesn't make them attack back any faster either. Fear is strange, it's not as straightforward as people think. (As I used to think!)

Fear causes a very large reduction in the attack rate of whatever you stack it on, because I believe they're forced back into the cower animation, unless they're running. Even then they'll still stop and cower a lot of the time.

This is way, way better than when any fear power you used scattered mobs to the corners of the map.

Lemme just clarify, because it seemed to be a bit muddy in-game, that the following story was only found by accident.

Why the disclaimer? Because I stuck the landing to my Super Jump.

    Who was getting married.
    Next to Positron.
Surrounded by at least 20 other heroes.
Around midnight est. on a Saturday night.

Gentlemen I could NOT have picked a worse time. He was JUST about to give some syrupy god awful speech. And I'm playing as The Protesting Protector. The unbelievably near overwhelming urge to just scream OBJECTION! at this whole affair...GARGH!
But by this point the Bit and I think Japh showed up, so it'll please you all to know that we were all well behaved Copyright Infringments. Hell, I even managed to get a photo after the speech.

That's the "happy couple" posing for screenshots by Positron. Me and Chell infringing it up in the front.

With the image of 20 random people holding torches up for a fake ceremony, we did the only thing we could...
broke a few copyright laws! and what better place for the newest round of the Penny Arcadians to hang out, than in our Totally Radical, Mondo Outrageous End Level Castle Base!
