I'll watch the opening animation again, but I doubt it changes with your game progress.
Ginrai, let us know when you beat chapter 11 sir.
I actually wondered that before. Ch. 15ish
Alicia turning Valkyria is in the intro, but I don't know if it was originally. I'm thinking it probably was, but because no one was looking for it it wasn't a big deal.
It was.
So it is.
Actually, when you think about it, it's kind of cool how easy it was to miss. I mean, once I saw it after chapter 14 it was so obvious, but it wasn't before. Brains are weird, and how they ignore information that seems irrelevant is fascinating. /nerdy neurology.
Lucky you. Someone else said "hey there's a spoiler in the US intro" and I could immediately identify what it was. At least it's not as big a deal as... you know.
Hmm, I happened to watch the entire intro for the first time today, and didn't notice the spoiler.
Anyway, Chapter 14
was pretty awesome (I was a little afraid that Alicia would attack the Shamrock, since it was the closest unit at one point), then kind of annoying (infinite infantry). I lucked out by having Largo take out the Southern tank (well, he was the only lancer that I initially deployed), so I didn't have to fight through a crowd just to rescue him. I would have reset if I had permanently lost Jann. Having Jann kill the other tank was sweet, and what made it better was that his "Extra Shot" potential activated immediately afterward.
The first Naggiar fight was great as well. The tank accuracy upgrades really paid off there. I never found out for myself, but would Selvaria be able to one-shot the Edelweiss?
I also played three reports:
Alicia (spiral mountain): This was fun, though kind of easy.
Varrott (stealth): Super easy, but I like the Largo/Varrott stuff. Geld seems more cartoony and out of place than Hans.
Welkin (defend the camp): This was tough! I had to reload a couple of times, and lost Largo and Rosie on the way. I almost regretted not using an engineer, but I needed Aika and Catherine to do the late-game killing. This is where I learned just how overpowered "Caution" is. Largo was taking full tank machinegun clips, and barely got scratched!

She can and she will one shot the edelweiss if you dont stun her and put the tank in a hole. That mission was probly the only time I actualy lost on my NG+ run simply because I used my last CP to cap the mortar base and watched as Selvaria destroyed Welkin.
Is it normal to play the same level over and over again? I am obsessed with the first desert level and realized you could save at any time in this game! so i killed the tank, started over and saved... now i just keep playing it over and over trying to get thru "better" then the time before.
My problem if anyone dies I hate myself and start over.
I have been doing this for two days, and haven't progressed past this level (its possible I suck at this game too)
After you beat the game, you unlock new game plus. And after beating a mission in that mode, you can replay it at any time. So you can keep the xp you're earning there instead of beating and reloading
Wait, there's a New Game+ mode?
I'm going to lose a lot of time maxing out my characters aren't I.

It maxes at 20, so no
Rather, you're going to lose a lot of time attempting to one-turn every chapter and skirmish

How long are we talking about here?
I actually got No, Up YOUR Arsenal in R&C:F, that's how obsessed I am with pimping my gear.
Fastest way is to A-Rank a couple of hard missions after you finish the game. Money really isn't a problem after a while, but getting enough XP to max out every class will take some grinding. I've played through the entire game once and I'm now half-way through my New Game+, and I've finished a couple of skirmishes (only 1 hard though). I now have Lvl 20 scouts, Lvl 17 Lancers and Lvl 16 Shocks / Engineers / Snipers. It'll probably take at least 3-4 more A-ranked hard missions to max everyone out.
She can and she will one shot the edelweiss if you dont stun her and put the tank in a hole. That mission was probly the only time I actualy lost on my NG+ run simply because I used my last CP to cap the mortar base and watched as Selvaria destroyed Welkin.
Yeah, I captured the mid-base with 2 CP left, so I was only able to get Welkin to a trench. The anti-tank cannon blew up the Shamrock, but I didn't need him anyway.

I had it worse. Edelweiss' treads had been blown up when Selvaria appeared, and my only engineer had just been taken out. I ended up taking the main base with my very last CP.
Just knocked out chapter 6 which was amazing. It had a little bit of everything, sand storms, named snipers etc... loved it. No question this was the GotY for me even though I didn't get it until this year. I am pretty much resigned to getting a D rating my first time through the maps. If I rush around without proper scouting my little dudes get killed, if I don't I get a D rating. No biggey but it would be nice if rating took into account how little dmg you took. It is a strategy game after all.
...and holy fuck at mission 7. Reading some strategies and attempting that again.

Damn, Mission 15 is kicking my ass. I can't even get to my second turn without the Edelweiss being blown up.

I really wish my PS3 was back so I could play me some VC
On the other hand, this made me refocus on my PS2 and I've now discovered FFXII and GOD HAND are two of the greatest games ever made

Never played God Hand but amen on FFXII. I loved me some gambits.
Whew, 15b was pretty intimidating! After a couple of false starts, I managed to pull it together and get an A ranking.
It took me a little while to realize that I needed to use the smoke rounds. I lost a sniper on the way up the stairs, but the dynamic duo of Alicia and Aika did the majority of the work, capturing bases, flipping switches, killing dudes, and even blowing up a couple of tanks.
I finished Selvaria with a two-woman game between Marina and Alicia. I started with Alicia, and lucked out when she ducked under a volley of return fire. Then one sniper bullet, followed by several rifle rounds to the back of Selvaria's head (here is where I register my preference for the high-damage rifles. The 2 extra shots come in handy!), and she went down. Then the cutscene kicked in, with Alicia standing over the defeated Valkyria. Seamless transition!
I never used a smoke bomb, instead you can park your character behind the tank on either side and let Selvaria blast away into the tank armor, start running again as soon as she starts to reload.
I sent Vyse/Aika to the right, Vyse kills the tank right away, and then they kill their way up (make sure to get the sniper, you don't have to kill the gatling) until they can hide behind the switch door.
Meanwhile on the left, Rosie takes out the gatling, then her and Alicia kill their way up. Largo can use 2-3 CP to run down an alley to take out the tank in front of your team's starting position. Leave him there afterwards, he is safe.
After that it was just a matter of rushing Alicia around the left side, healing/calling in reinforcements when needed, and eventually letting Vyse/Aika in through their door to help make the kill. Surrounding her isn't too hard once you get up there, she has probably moved onto the corner of the map by now to make capping the rampart camp easier.
So I just cracked this open, sat down, and said "Let's see if this is as awesome as the demo was."
That was about four hours ago, and I was wrong. It's more awesome.
Just finished Chapter 4 - the difficulty there went up a fair bit, though that might have been a result of me not having the unit mix down quite yet. :P

Decided to finish up my skirmishes but Marina isn't in the roster yet.
What mission is it that unlocks her again?
I think your units are random the second time around.
About chapter 15
I didn't use smoke grenades. I did get butchered in the first two turns though, and had to replace all of my units. I ended up using Alex and Vyse to take out the tanks on the bottom, and sent Rosie up the left side to take out the soldiers up there. The cool thing about shocktroopers is that they can take more shots from Selvaria than other units. After Rosie took the left and Vyse and Alex were done with the tanks, they went up the right and cleaned up there.

Really? I got her right off the bat, and she's been deployed every mission.
Chapter 4 spoilers
I'd upgraded them before and she unlocked Nest Master or whatever the one is that makes her crazy awesome from a tower, and fucked up three parked tanks by sniping the ragnite barrels.

I think it's chapter 10 o_O I have to take down the bridge with the train.
Zaka also said to take down the bridge to the NW to help him, am I suppose to be aiming at the bridge with my tank to damage it?

The bridge to the northwest that's labelled 'Makeshift Bridge'? To the left of the base/fortified position? You just need to toss a grenade at that.
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Just finished the mission, I got a C though...:| I thought he meant the main bridge at first but I spotted the smaller one when I sent the scout out.
Jesus christ, second skirmish on hard. I had to finally give in and go to a guide to figure out how to A-rank it. That is some fiddly stuff right there.
I have no idea how anyone could figure that out on their own. Though a couple key components were mostly tank feature I'd never really used (plowing through terrain, smoke rounds)
