Speaking of the Plasma Cutter... Holy Shit! I just beat Chapter 4 and managed to fully upgrade its damage... I can two-shot Mr. Choppy by aiming at the groin (taking out both legs at once)! :D

    I love this game!

I've been using/upgrading the Cutter/Rifle exclusively, and both are extremely useful. I didn't use the Rifle much until I picked up 2 damage upgrades, and still don't find it useful on some enemies, but it does make a nice backup to the Cutter of ULTIMATE GROIN-SHOT DOOM! And man, I'm playing on Hard but I'm just rolling in ammo (500+ Pulse, 100ish Cutter).

so does this game have the same problem every console-to-PC port ever has? That is, does it feel like the game takes half a second to recognize your mouse movements?

This doesn't work for everyone(i.e. me). Most people do experience an improvement in the game-play with this. Isaac behaved like a truck on my computer, unfortunately.

So I decided to start a Hard playthrough today and work towards the One Gun achievement at the same time
I thought it'd be a pretty difficult challenge
If anything, doing this makes the game really, really easy (obviously I'm biased since I've beaten it before but still...this game is waaay too easy waaay too fast if you One Gun it)
I already have a maxed damaged out cutter with two points in capacity and one in reload
I have so much ammo I've already moved some and am carrying, at any given point in time. like 107 shots
I'm swimming in credits (currently I'm at 29k+)
And just for funsies I've noded every door. Most of the time I can't even carry the stuff I find because I have so much stuff
This is all pre-Chap 4, btw
Really the only truly "Hard" part of the game is the very beginning where you have to rely on Stasis -> melee a lot
It's still scary as a motherfucker and you really have to be careful around enemies, since they can fuck your shit up easily, but I could be waaaay more careless with ammo and still be okay, and I'm just in the first third of the game
This shouldn't be right, and I realize why. One Gunning is easier than having multiple weapons- One Gunning means you can have just one OP'd weapon instead of a bunch of weaker, more situationally useful weapons. That means no having to switch, no ammo worries (since you can just sell off the other types you'll pick up and get the one you actually need), and never having to buy additional weapons, which early on are pretty expensive considering.

You know, I played the demo for this game, and thought " Hey, this doesn't look that scary for the 'scariest game this gen'" Then I saw this LP.

On the topic of weapons, I'd have to grab the Ripper on every playthrough ever, for two main reasons : 1. It's a chainsaw, in space, that's remotely controlled, which means pure awesome. 2. It's alternate fire reminds me of another, slightly forgotten Ripper from another game, but none-the-less, there were a lot of heads rolling about after I found the alt-fire

So, I'm working on 30-kill and 'max everything' trophies right now (second playthrough) and I just picked up the Ripper. Everyone who has tried to explain to everyone why the Ripper is the best weapon ever... I am so sorry I ignored you. It so amazingly fun. Slicing off a necro's legs and then having his face and arms chopped off before he even hits the ground is so damn satisfying. Amazing weapon.

I ran into a fair amount of ammo problems when I was doing this on impossible and doing the one gun thing. Not sure if this was a problem with the how I was spending nodes (i was upgrading stasis and health simultaneously) so I was spending all my credits on ammo.

But a fair amount of enemies dropped nothing, and alot of the time I was getting like flame fuel D: Which doesn't sell for a whole lot.

And dealing with the crawling masses (whatever they are called) without any explosives around and a cutter is not fun o_o.

And the alt-fire for the pulse rifle, that's the first time I've seen it. Some kind of.. bullet techno rave? Looked a bit odd. Otherwise, I'm half way through and enjoying this update! Glad to have you back.

pulse rifles alt fire is completely pointless for anything other then swarms of those little buggers, and even then the primary fire will probably use less ammo

The pulse rifle sucks so bad when you first get it, I was surprised how much I liked it after you put a few nodes into it.

On that, I'm glad to see they actually DO walk onto them. I kept trying to put them between me and a necro on that bit, thinking he'd straight-line for me and INVERTED GRAVITY straight into the ceiling. No. Damned things dodged them every time and clawed my face.

It might be a PC version thing. I played on the 360 and aside from the single "example" necrobaby that walks on them to show you they're lethal, I never actually saw a necro (aside from those in these videos) walk onto them and die. They would always walk around them when I played.

Also, I had no idea it was even possible to have so many ammo drops from enemies that were for a weapon you weren't carrying. These videos show something like 6 ripper blade drops from enemies when Helloween is only carrying the pulse rifle and plasma cutter. I only ever found ripper blades in containers, never from enemy drops (while not carrying the ripper, I mean). Weird.

It's the game showing him how much we want him to get the super-space-chainsaw. Buy that thing now Helloween, it's awesome, and the alt-fire is pretty much a instant kill on some of these things, or at least removing 2-3 limbs

Unfortunately for our hero here, the alt fire for the rifle doesn't work on prone enemies. If you used it around a bunch of standing necros it would have worked. I actually eviscerated all the limbs from a necro that was in the process of lunging at me while using the alt fire.

    It was awesome.

You did much better with the second Brute than I expected you to and now that you've started to upgrade your gear, you will have an easier time. For a while, anyway. I have no idea why the game gave you such odd ammo, weird that.

    About the Pulse Rifle:
Just one thing. The Pulse Rifle is badass... but only if you upgrade the damage. It goes from 5 to 9 points of damage per bullet, and the thing can hold 200 at max capacity. It is an amazing panic weapon and room clearer. Node it up! :P
