So I just downloaded 5 gigs of a show I like. Its all in the original Japanese do .rmvb files have subtitles, if so how do I turn them on. Please tell me that I didn't spend 5 days downloading something i can't even understand.
I would like to put something clever and about me but I fear my company will find it
I have no idea if rmvb files (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) have subtitles built-in, but I don't think they do. Most of the time, when I want to watch subtitled videos, I have to download another file (typically with a .srt extension and the same file name as the video) and a subtitle player like VobSub. Real Alternative player apparently does subtitles natively (again, if you have the .srt file). If it's a popular Asian show (or even unpopular cult one), you can probably find the subtitle files easily on a Google search. Here's one link I found: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_16002.htm
VLC is good. I personally don't like it though (anyone else hate it that the search bar doesn't go where you click? It's always like a mile off.)
You can go here to download CCCP (the Combined Community Codec Pack) and it should come with Media Player Classic. On the toolbar there should be a menu labelled "Navigate," which will have Subtitle options in it.
