Oh shit. Worms. Worms dropped on the 11th.

I'll buy it if they add online play.

Blarg. This is the one thing that bugs me about the iphone, that prices go up and down so frequently. I just bought I Dig It last week for full price, and now its .99? I mean, its not a huge price difference, but it just puts me in the mindset that for future games, I might as well just wait and get them for .99 cents.

Some analysis of the app store call the current way it works a race to the bottom, and this would be why.

I look forward to a marketplace that can actually sustain itself. I would estimate we will see it no sooner than 18 months.

I totally agree. I wouldn't mind paying the full price for games so long as I didn't think they'd drop down to 99 cents just a week later. Even if its just a couple dollars difference, its still a bit off-putting.

i mean, if you bought a 3 buck game that fun, good for you

but you could have bought 3 .99 games for that

think of how much more fun you could be having

To be fair, I'm pretty sure this is the only time geodefense has dropped from full price, except for when it very first came out

It's funny, I've bought a lot of games on the app store. Many of them have been somewhat "pricey." Peggle? $4.99. Hero of Sparta? $5.99. Top Gun? $3.99. All three went on sale or had price cuts within a couple weeks of my purchase, and I don't regret a single one. I felt like I got my money's worth.

I actually think it's a symptom o the way the store listings are organised with a bias towards most popular. Developers periodically drop their price on a temporary basis or launch their app for free then put a price on it later to get a position on the 'charts'. The increased exposure by being in the top 25 presumably increases sales significantly even when you raise prices again.

Anyone bought it? It's getting some meh reviews, but it's Worms! I'm not sure how much longer I can resist... people were complaining about lag & the zoomed-out-edness, but the screens look pretty fine on the zoom level (actually better than the XBLA worms 2, which by default seems very zoomed out to me)

Geowars is on sale for $1, which is great because it's worth it even at full price. IMO it's the best and most polished tower defense game on the platform. And fairly challenging too.

This game is absolutely fantastic (for a buck). I have wanted to grab a tower defense game for the iPhone, and this one fit the bill on price as well as geometry wars nostalgia.

Has a few bugs, though. Maybe I need to reboot the phone...

The reboot did seem to fix the problems, but I almost want them back. It was like a geometric drug trip when the game bugged out.

You know, I probably would rebuy RE4 on iPhone just to have it on the iPhone. :(

Anyway, I'm surprised to hear no one else talking about it: Did anyone else pick up Rolando 2? I've been reading good reviews, and I decided on a whim to pick it up today. I played through the intro levels, and it's really fun, not nearly the Loco Roco ripoff I was kind of expecting it to be. Music is ballin' too.

It was allegedly a full release; an accidental early release on the Japanese App Store that someone bought and downloaded before the store yanked it off. It's all still unconfirmed, but seeing as how there's already an RE4 Mobile version on Japanese cell phone I don't think it's much of a stretch to imagine an iPhone port.

Also, I finally caved and got a new Tower Defense game. Thanks for all the good vibes with GeoWars. Awesome, awesome iteration of the Tower Defense game.

Edit: Here's the app store entry for the game:

    Enviro-Bear 2010

Who is driving my car? Oh my God, a Bear is Driving! How can that be?!

    How to play:

    * Grab stuff with your finger
    * Eat fish and berries.
    * When you are FAT enough, drive into a cave to hibernate.
    * You can throw stuff out the windows and sunroof!

The video accurately sums up the gameplay experience. You drive the car around, splashing into ponds which causes the fish to leap into the car. they flop around and hit things inside the car 'till you catch them with your paw, then drag the paw to the bear's mouth to eat.

One time I hit a tree and several hornets flew into my car. Another time I saw a second bear driving a car, and accidentally ran into him.

For $1, I'll take this over a match-3 or tower defense game for sheer ridiculousness.

Reign Episode 2 is out, also, but I realized I never finished the first one, so now I'm back onto the original.

I grabbed Trade Winds 2 on a whim, not having played any other games, and I kind of dig it, but I wish there were more to ship combat. You just tap the ship and stare at the screen, with an occasional tap to launch flaming pots or chain shots. Bottom line: when are they going to port Sid Meier's Pirates! onto iPhone?

So I finally grabbed Hero of Sparta, and it's decent. I feel like I'm missing something in the combat, though. Do you really just hit the sword button over and over, and occasionally hold it down to do your super move? I'm pretty early, but there seems to be a lack of technique.

I picked this up as well - first purchase on my phone, even though I've had it for nearly a year! Can't beat .99 cents though. I like it so far - I'm on the 3rd level I think. It's pretty basic, sure, but once you get some magic and a few new weapons, it opens up a bit with re: combat options.

Pretty impressed with the graphics as well.

Rolando 2 is really good—the trip-hop soundtrack is catchy as hell, and it's hip without being "OMG JAPANESE CRAAAAAZY" like Loco Roco 2 is. I actually prefer Rolando 2, and it was half the price to boot!

I can kind of understand people's aversion to buying games at full price, especially when it's $10 and games are notorious for crashing down to get attention, but it's a great game.
