[Mini-Phalla] Test labs: Post-Christmas Holiday Game

Deep ThoughtDeep Thought Registered User
edited January 2009 in Critical Failures
I shall run a game. It shall be epic. It may be epic in it's fail or it may be epic in it's awesomeness. Since this game is being run primarily to test out a new idea I had to find it's secondary implications. This means two things:

1) This game may be horribly broken. I don't think it is, but the chance exists.

2) Not a standard Phalla. If you play it like one I will hate you. Additionally I will give preferential placement to those who I know who really try and push/break the game. As such it isn't strictly first come first serve....because I am mean.

It shall be Holiday themed in much the same way my games tend to have sad, pathetic attempts at a theme simply to provide the barest of narrative frameworks. It will also be a generally open rule game, meaning the majority of rules will be clearly announced to the thread at large.

To sign up, make a colorful statement about the just past Festive season.

So, what's so special about this game?

 ....there ain't no Bad Guys, there is just you and me and we just disagree....

More details on what I mean:
The only people with abilities beyond a villager belong to a faction.

There are no "specials" and right now there are no "bad guys". There are two groups with hidden memberships who can not win the game together. Each is just as capable as winning with the village as the other.

The Rules
Each day we vote to get rid of someone in !red, make your own choice on who you should be attempting to remove.

Each day we elect somebody to the position of Santa by using that word in green before their name. Like Santa DA.

As Santa embodies all that is good about the Holidays (Presents), he may only be one of those who knows the true meaning of the season (Presents). This means a villager. Any votes for a non-villager to be Santa are ignored.

Santa will be granted these abilities:

1) Gives the present of mercy, vetoing the vote and dooming the 2nd place finisher. There are no other vote manipulation abilities in this game. So if Santa can count, he can decide who dies to the vote. He must annouce his decision, in lime, within an hour of vote close.

2) Is given access to a proboard where he may communicate with each faction anonymously. (They will obviously know who he is but he will not know who they are aside from faction name.)

3) To kill Santa is to DECLARE WAR ON CHRISTMAS! If any faction does so they no longer may win with the village but receives an additional nightly kill. If Santa is killed, the position will remain empty for the remainder of the game.

Action Order
Vote Closes 8:00 PM EST
Current Santa Vetoes or Not. 8:01-8:59 PM EST

And now I'm ready to roll all you guys in a mini-phalla.

Mine is the Alpha and Omega hat. It is the hat that has always been, and always will be. It would not be fictional to say that my hat at times wears not only a top hat, but a monocle.

You would risk much in some a combat.

    "Merry Christmas!"

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "Merry Christmas!"

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "Merry Christmas!"

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "Merry Christmas!"

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "Merry Christmas!"

    "Happy Holidays!"

    "It's FUCKING JANUARY!"

Once more we find ourselves finished with the festive season. Presents have been opened, parties have been attended, massive amounts of food has been consumed...and the War has once again been fought.

Yes, that idiotic war between Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and all those two phrases have come to represent continues still and I definitely mean still. Like now, in January. It seems that this year both sides have decided they won't give it up and refused to admit defeat. They assault random passersby with historical minutia, hyperbolic statements of tradition and oppression and otherwise make themselves annoying while all right thinking people just want to forget about their looming credit card statements, maybe lose some weight and stick to their promise to not drink like that ever again. Now they've taken to assaulting random people in the street! Something must be done!

As stated in the OP the majority of you are Villagers and will win the game when one of the non-villager factions is completely eliminated provided that any remaining non-villagers have not Declared War on Christmas!

Additionally, the only people with abilities beyond the standard single vote are not Villagers. How to deal with this is the entire point of this game.

Randomization and Role PMs going out now.

Dont freaking bring Santa into this, he has nothing to do with your bickering

So should we decide on which faction we want to oust, or should we as villagers just vote for both of them to narrow them down and then eventually kill the last remaining member in whichever faction.

So, mechanics wise, it appears that we have been handed a public seer ability in terms of the Santa vote. If someone is made Santa, then they're a villager.

If someone is voted first place and fails to become Santa, then they're faction based.

So, I propose that every night, we make sure that there's a clear first place, second place, and third place so that we don't have to deal with the ambiguity of a tie.

To help with this, I'll put myself into second place behind Law.

    Santa eecc

Although depending on how strict DA is with the rules, I may have accidentally put myself into first place... =P
