I always end up without friggin juice in the disc duels and i end up dead though i am king of flag assists haha- cant remember how to drop it so i just take a missle and propel it to my teammates. I dont know what it is but theres something really messing up my ingame depth perception i always fire a little behind or a little infront.
I think discs are supposed to fire a bit after you click. Also, I didn't realize I had to DL stuff for tacmod; doing that now.
Haha, I was playing on Goon server, and there was like 40 people, and just before we quit, I rode the grav cycle across the map, jumped off and sniped a sniper that had hit my bike, then turn around and disced another guy. It felt epic. Of course, then I get back on the bike, get it suck in the terrain, and dismount to my spinfusor related death, but that's irrelevant.

Yeah, but mine were lagging a lot. (And so were my other weapons) It's alright, I have this game installed on a laptop and I was playing it in an area where I can barely access my wireless network so I wasn't expecting a great connection anyway.
Ok. I'd love to play with all you guys, but when I go to sign in it tells me my password is wrong. The problem is I'm not inputting the wrong one. Any way to reset the password or something?
Hey guys, I'm with the TAC2 Dev team. We have a server hosted on Branzone, and it has now been configured to support Tribesnext's patch. Please feel free to download the mod and join us. We have a regularly scheduled match every Friday Night (see the forums for the announcements).
I'm glad to see this injection of interest in my beloved Tribes 2
Edit: Damn, I wasn't done reading through all the posts... I see that stig was all over it
OH, and the catseye problem can happen if you don't have the maps or the mod wasn't loaded correctly. If it keeps happening, throw a post up in our forums. I check it throughout the day.
I just downloaded this to see what all the hooblah was about, after playing through the tutorials I can totally see getting into this. I can only hope that I don't fuck up too badly when I try out multiplayer, though.
Does anyone else who has a multicore CPU have to set the affinity for the tribes2.exe process to use only one proc, or is that a "feature" that's exclusive to my aging AMD Athlon FX-62?

You may want to put "Download Required" in the server name or something, a lot of people seem to forget that part :P
Yeah, we though having the website in the server name would help, but we get base players bouncing off almost every week. For some reason, our other dev(the one you saw on the server) keeps putting branzone back into the title instead
Maybe I'll look into changing that tomorrow. I'm suddenly feeling like I should have updated our website sooner (the lack of traffic has left me with a lack of updates).
Oh that reminds me, and there are additional maps we've released, that aren't part of that main download. Please be advised, if the server bumps you, it's probably because a newer map is running. We've been creating new maps recently, so that's why they aren't in the main download.

It's no big deal, everyone is fucking up right now. Our games are one big clusterfuck.
Anyway my laptop overheated and shut down, so I'm going to stop for tonight, GGs!
I played the heck out of the first tribes in college. I never really played 2, I didn't like the feel of the skiing. I guess I was addicted to the Renegade mod and being able to shockwave jump a heavy straight from my base to their base half the time (otherwise it might take 60 seconds of skiing).
I'm trying if it was tribes2 or vengeance that had that annoying "Looooohuuuuuuuuser" voice that every jackass just kept spamming.

Good to know about the stuff notman. I'm going to try and see if I can get it installed tomorrow night. Fun games everyone.
My favorite part of the night, I loaded up a light, grabbed a grav-cycle and rode over to the enemy base, snuck in, dropped a satchel by the gens, hit it right before grabbing the flag and hopping on the grav cycle. As I was coming back, there was a bomber bombing our base, and it had just turned to face me and was dropping bombs. I ended up playing chicken with the bomber, making through like a fucking movie, and capping the flag.

I was in that bomber. We flew too close to a mountain and were exploded by our own bombs.
Beautiful.
Really good to play this game again, by the way. Like, so good it drew me out of lurker-dom.
The SA server is awesome theres like 11 super good people and when their against you it really sucks haha sat back in my flag capping gear countering all the cappers- the most annoying ones are the sensor jamming guys. I love chasing the flag as it slides away with like 11 guys following me either wanting to kill me or save the flag.
I played on one of the 32 player classic servers today, not SA or Arcadia(which was empty). Most of us were just having fun, but there was this guy who you could see was holding back. He would move in and take the flag like a shadow, you barely see him for 2 seconds and he's gone with your flag. Then he does a spinfusor jump and goes like 400 meters up in the air and straight to his base, he's untouchable. For the most part he was playing defense, but every time he tried he capped the flag.
We also had this other guy own us by capping really well, then the next map we have him on the team. I ask him to help us, he says "I can't, there's no vehicles on this map" Arg
It was usually close and always fun. I also practiced a ton with my sniping and I can actually kill people 1 on 1 now, yay! ELF is also god, it really neutralizes 95% of all cappers.

This was annoying me so much last night. I should have just put on a sensor pack, but instead, I decided to satchel it. But man, fucking ELF turrets.
Wait a shit. You can pilot a grav cycle while holding the flag?
Isn't that a big no-no in game design?
This is old school design, where they treat you like big boys and girls.
And as was stated before. Because of the terrain skiing is almost always faster than a grav cycle.
This is true. On maps with rough terrain, skiing is usually much faster, but the grav cycle has the benefit of being able to avoid missiles much easier. On maps with reletively flat terrain, the grav cycle is faster.
On water based maps, especially some of the custom ones where it's a water world, the grav cycle is the fastest method of travel because of a physics exploit. The shrike caps out at around 350 IIRC, and cannot go faster. The grav cycle does not have a speed cap. On water, if you nose the grav cycle down, the water will force the grav cycle back up when it dips underneath the water, but "up" is in relation to the grav cycle, not the map. This causes the grav cycle to shoot forward a bit. Do this while boosting, you can get speeds of up to 600 pretty easily.

So who's up for some TAC in about an hour?
Edit: Ninja, not related at all really.
Edit 2: Also Food, why weren't you shooting people and stuff?

I was lagging terribly at the time... my discs were firing seconds after I clicked. So I was just acting dumb for fun.

There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
I never asked for this!

This is the best fucking FPS EVER MADE.
There isn't one. If it asks you for the password, the server is full. There is a reserved slot for the admin.
