Is now a good time to join the game? It seems...like it might not be too friendly to jump into these days.

It's still a good time, the game is on the cusp of another major content addition. The MMO tourists have left for the most part, and so long as you roll on a PA server, you ought to have no problem finding other players.

A lot of it is population based, so as long as you're on a decently busy server you'll be okay.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

They brainwash the Brettonians and kidnap their children! Their greatest enemy are the dwarves! Actually, it's probably the beastmen, but their army sucks.

man, warhammer is fucking up for me right now
I was playing on REM and was flying to another zone
and during the zone loading screen it kicks me back to the character screen
ok, so I click play and go back to the loading screen, then after a few seconds back to the character screen
so I try a different character, same damn thing

then I tried restarting war, then I tried restarting my computer
then I finally get into the game but I'm back in the original zone I started in so I try flying again and it just gets stuck on the cut scene of you flying off, doesn't even go to the loading screen

No way we're getting Beastmen, because they are awful. There's a reason you get to slaughter them in the opening Chaos area and then never see them again.

Exactly, I love killing me some beastmen. I dont see how they could really add Beastmen or Feral Orcs as anything other than some new dungeons, since the only classes they would really have are already filled by existing ones.

Though to be honest, they could just add new Classes individually without having to start whole new pairings. They area already adding in the KotBS & BG, Slayer & Choppa without having to give them a whole new race of 4 archetypes to group with.

But those were all classes that were supposed to be in the game at the start (well, Hammerer instead of the Slayer). So it's like they did a whole bunch of work to get those in, they just tweaked what they already had.

Either way they go, new races or new classes, they are probably going to be a butt ton of work and I'm guessing won't be seen until an expansion.

Beastmen hardly have enough lore to base an entire race off of. They are filler.

It would be like trolls becomming a race. Sure, orkz use them sometimes or chaos corrupts them also, but they are not substantial enough to make 1/8th of the player characters trolls.

(They'd be the 8th race because there are 6 now and if one side gets a new race, the other would also, i'd presume.)

In other games, this really sucks, but in WAR each class is very unique. I mean, each of the Empire classes is pretty damn unique if you just take a second to look at them. Their outlines, their poses, their armor, its all very easily distinguishable. In other games its just not that apparent, which is a shame.

It's more of the going through the same low-level content that I don't like. EQ2 was pretty bad about this, what with the newbie island, then the beginning neighborhoods, then CL/ANT, the TS/NEK. It was all pretty samey stuff up to level 30 or so. At least WAR has RvR and such to spice it up a little I guess.

But would it have been so hard to put a little height slider on there?

If you find T1 getting stale, go to an unfamiliar racial pairing and do their T1 OR do more ORvR in T1.

I found that T1 ORvR was just not going on back in the day, apparently now there is some action though.

T1 ORvR is still kinda dead. Most of the time it's just getting a group together to cap BOs with no resistance. The only time I found anyone it was a gank fest with one side having twice the people.

Although me and a tank did have a good old time when a group of four destros tried to sneak up on us while we were doing a PQ. We were still flagged for RvR from a Scenario or something. They spent probably a good 10 minutes trying to beat me up until they brought in a tank and another ranged dps to kill me. Managed to get a couple of them first.

But I'm just trying to stick to one guy anyway. I've played a few MMOs, but never get anywhere near the end game because of either playing too many alts or going on too many deployments.

(Any of them there crafting things worth trying?)

it all depends on the server you join, when you play, and if you have friend to play with. If you join a PA guild, both their servers are very active and both are fairly active so that helps you with 2 of those. The game isn't brand new anymore so there will be dry patches where you can't find anyone to group with, but generally you can always find something to do. Just don't get into the mindset that you're going to "just" pvp, or "just pq grind" because you're just setting yourself up to get discouraged if you can't that day.

If you need a friend trial, send me a PM with your email addy and I'll send one your way.

Man the 30-32 transition on Order really killed the game for me. Wasn't really looking forward to being shit on in ORVR as MDPS until I hit 40 either. Putting 30-39s in with level 40s in T4 scenarios is retarded.

Does that still apply, though? With the new zones added, it's like there are 3 different paths to level up through for each side.
Of course, they never revamped the original zones, so the new zones tend to be better designed, far easier, and have superior rewards in comparison. Really annoyed me when I realized this after having gone through 25 levels of original content.

GOA has announced that a great big "Call to Arms" update for Warhammer Online will go live from March.

Top of the bill are re-instated classes Orc Choppa and Dwarf Slayer. Both are mirrors of one another: berserk, up-close brawlers with little regard for their own safety.

These will be introduced properly in March, but players can get a head start with the new classes by completing a live Bitter Rivals event slightly earlier. This event opens a Chaos-themed Twisting Tower RvR battleground, too.

The other big feature will be a Land of the Dead zone, home to an enormous new Tomb Kings dungeon that Mythic claims to be the spiritual successor to Darkness Falls from previous MMO Dark Age of Camelot. Here, remember, all factions fought openly - albeit after starting from separate corners of the immense underground chasm.

There were also tokens to collect from hellish enemies that could be spent on equipment sold by imps. And the further down players descended the much more difficult life became, culminating in an enormous boss encounter with the Legion - a screen-filling monster made up from thousands of corpses.

The Land of the Dead will be openly contested, then, and whoever controls the area will unlock the numerous public quests and instances associated with the zone.

The Land of the Dead opens fully in June, but realms will need to complete two previous live events for access. The first, Beyond the Sands, has yet to be detailed, but will happen in April.

The second event, Rise of the Tomb Kings, unlocks the Land of the Dead for each faction, and takes place in May.

On top of all this, Mythic will be finally implementing official Warhammer Online forums, adding extra Realm Wars functionality to the website, and offering a free trial versions of the game.

Plus, this Call to Arms update is just the first of the "live expansions" planned for Warhammer Online.
