Native Expansion adds and tweaks a lot of stuff, like adding a kingdom system.
I so wanted to play some more last night but my hard drive is dying and my computer kept locking up. I ordered a new one today, but it'll be next week when it arrives. I hope it cooperates tonight.
I didn't like the excessive changes and smorgasbord (did I spell that right?) of stuff Native Expansion added, but the kingdom improvements did seem kinda nice. Any other mod that does the same (but only that) or a way to rip that part out?

Accepting a ransom doesn't give you anything but cash, if you want honor, you have to let them go as soon as you capture them. It's 3 points, so definitely the easiest way to earn some, and I've been doing it a lot recently now that I'm filthy rich. Plus it improves your rep with them so hopefully it'll make it easier for me to talk them into joining my rebellion later.

If you have high enough relations (:winky:) with a Lord of your Kingdom, can you get that damn "Follow Me, I have a plan" option to WORK? Or is that only for if you're Marshall?
If they like you well enough, they will follow you. King Ragnar adores me, so he will actually tag along from time to time when I ask. He does have the attention span of your average ADHD kid, however, and will run off after any enemies that approach your column.
I've taken two towns this way, and even been granted one of them. Talk about your cash cows!
Now that I'm a Swadian rebel, my forces are almost exclusively Swadian again, and I'm up to 42 Knights, with about 20 Men at Arms...it's nuts, I can take on ridiculous odds and win easily. I think I had one fight against 100 dudes without a single casualty, even a wounding.

In vanilla, Swadian knights become a rape train once you get a sizeable force. I switched to a Nord playthrough because my column of 120 armored warriors would simply grind anyone else into the ground.
Of course, my Huscarls do pretty much the same thing.
I wouldn't recommend it, personally. They have no troop variety, so it's pretty much a decision on your preferred spear & shield to crossbow ratio. And since everyone is on foot, your army will move painfully slow, but you just don't get that 'Fuck yeah, pillage!' rush that you get with Nords. They really should have fleshed out the Rhodoks with some light cavalry and basic archers instead of crossbows for a Roman feel. I mean, they're not underpowered, just horribly generic.
Wooo! Marshall of the Vaegirs! It's time for Operation Burn The World!
I've been so absorbed in this game this week (week and a half? Less than a week?) that I have no idea when exactly it was I bought it. This game is brilliant.
Well. I just beat an army of 1100 Norsemen, with 130 guys.
Took all damn night.
I saw one of our newly recovered castles was under attack by about 8 or 9 Nord lords (incl King), and I was feeling cocky, so hey, why not defend it. It was down to about 25 defenders left in it. Using my patented "don't die" approach to sieges, I took off after the wall was breached and watched the battle from safety. It actually went better after all the original defenders died, since then my good Knights were able to step up. Probably killed about 170 of them, winning the battle. But we were still surrounded.
I rest for a night, then notice some damn fool got too close to us and was under assualt by the Nord army, still 950ish strong. He was down to about 22 troops left. This was a rare opening to escape from the castle without immediately being jumped on by 950 Nords myself, with my now 115-120 guys. So what did I do?
I charged those Nord fuckers, you bet yer ass.
With the battle advantage (set to normal max of 100 troops per fight) we started out without about 8 of us versus 92 Nord footsoldiers. This was no time to sit back and watch (most of my field fights now remind me of the Return of the King scene when the wave of ghost troops just washes out the orcs). Circle and circle and circle around the giant mob of Nordlanders, lop off one or two or three heads at a time, or run some down for charge damage. Never let myself get stopped, when I get stopped I get hit. Casualties were taken (all of the original defenders died or were wounded in round 1), but we won with another 180ish Nords dead. Fortunately all the Lords had been wounded in the siege. Round 2. Round 3. Round 4. It must've taken about 7 or 8 rounds to whittle down that army, in the end we were down to 50 guys. Since I've set my escape chance to 40%, I ended up with 5 or 6 Lords and one King prisoner. And 50 renown per round for the first couple rounds. And some ungodly amount of xp.
In one, long battle, the grand Nord army was reduced to rubble.
And the highlight of the night? Shooting down that motherfucker Lord Toregor and his big ugly hat before he even stepped on the siege ladder. Kickass.
Sadly, that doesn't work for me anymore, I tried that, and the Swadians are all like 405 mans vs my 20 huscarls. Fun, but after killing like 180 dudes we died.
Oh, second moment of the night; when the guy I rode out to save thanked me for saving his ass, yet again. You could almost see the awe in his poorly animated eyes. I think he walked away from the fight with 3 guys.
Argh, and now I'm beginning to have morale troubles. Do Garrisoned troops impact party morale at all? I don't recall having any morale difficulties like this the last time I was running a 70 man party.
Give them a nice variety of food? Fresh meat is a good choice, and if you've got lots of troops, they'll surely eat it all before it spoils. Other than that your leadership effects morale.
You haven't been press-ganging prisoners have you? That is nasty for morale.

How's your food variety? That can make a big difference.
You can get a breakdown of the aspects that make up your army's morale in the reports.
Edit: It's interesting how much of a difference a peace treaty can make. I'm playing as the Rhodoks, who started out at war with the Swadians, Vaegir, and Nords. For most of the game, my side didn't really get much accomplished besides fighting over a few border forts and oddly enough repeatedly taking and losing a castle on the other side of the map. Then we made peace with the Swadians, and almost immediately started on a massive rapefest against the Nord-Swadian border region. Probably just random, but eh.
Is there any way to increase the number of weapons you can use at any time? 4 is annoyingly small, and I'd like to be able to carry a spare weapon and an extra quiver.
Also, how do you edit your character? My healer and spotter both ran away, and I haven't been able to find them again. I'd like to just max out those stats, so that I can get rid of all my utility heroes, and just hang on to my trainers.
You can't take a village without the attached castle/city. They gave you the village, but the lord still has the castle, and doesn't like that they gave you the village. When you're given a village, your faction with the lord who previously owned it goes down. Dunno about them attacking you, though.
kildy - give it a few days and the town will rebuild, then go tax the shit out of them!
"Great job rebuilding your burnt-out husk of a town! Now give me all your fucking money."

press C, hit the button in the lower left, export. Go to your m&b directory, characters, edit the file, go back into the game, import.
You don't have to close m&b to edit the file. And no you can't that I know, your stuck with 4. Usually I go with lance, shield, axe, shield. When I am not specifically trying to avoid couching.
The spare shield is for your back, so you don't take as much damage when they shoot you from behind. The axe over a sword for the lower reach, and bonus against shields.

Um... I can't seem to find my exported file. I exported, but the Mount&Blade/CharExport folder is empty, except for a document explaining how to export characters. I tried exporting again, and it told me I had already exported a character by that name. Does anyone know what's going on? Also, I searched the Mount&Blade folder for Ante (the start of my character's name), char, and for files created today, and didn't come up with anything. What am I doing wrong here?
Also, I enjoy horseback archery too much to carry a spare weapon and shield, but I enjoy couched lancing too much to give that up either. Oh well, I'll just stick with heavily armoured horses, so I don't need to worry about being dehorsed. Which reminds me of another question: can I support the claimant to the Khergit throne without losing my Swadian land?

If so, make sure you have cheats enabled, you may need that in order to export/import since it is a cheat.

It should be in the options in the newer builds I believe. You can also just check gamefaqs to get instructions.
And no you can't, it will take your land when you renounce your oath to the king, to start the rebellion.

Man, my king is such a bastard. It's not like I'm rebelling against him, I'm actually fighting against an enemy. Oh well, I only have 1 city anyway, and the Swadians are such morons about fighting wars. We've had our only enemy, the Vaegirs, confined to two castles, for about 100 days, and nobody is doing anything about it. Time to switch camps, maybe.
I activated cheats, and still can't find the file anywhere. Is this Vista trying to hide system info from me for some reason (it seems to assume I'm an idiot all the time)?

I thought that you could keep your lands if you asked for a castle to be rewarded to you and then the king says no, and then you choose the "Thats not fair I quit" option. Im pretty sure that you keep your shit but youre booted out of the kingdom and you get labeled as "Rebels".
If this is the case then if you go and find a claimant afterward your old stuff would probably get added to the new.

There's an file tweak that you can do to allow inventory access during sieges, and I think the same tweak could be applied to allow the same during combat.
Okay, I tested it and it works.
You go into \Modules\Native\mission_templates.txt, and look for
Yea, the 'follow' quest is one of the more poorly implemented things in the game. In fact, anything that assumes you'd want to stay in one place for more than a day is (starving out a place in a siege takes 30-99 days, building a manor in a village). You burn through morale, food, and wages too fast if you're not doing something like every 2 days. I tweaked my morale so that's not a problem anymore, but even with that, I could probably only carry enough food for a week or so, how am I even supposed to try starving out a place?

Ah, do you still have UAC enabled? That could be the problem. Try running the game as administrator and see if that works. Yes, even if you're logged in as the admin or on an admin account.

Do you have to hang out in town while you build a manor? I didn't for a guard tower.
Also, I'm sure no one else is this dumb but it helped me a ton when I figured out I could just hold spacebar to pass time rather than camping and "rest here for awhile" :P

Time doesn't pass very fast otherwise, since you can travel from one edge of the realm to the other in one day.
Also you can carry a lot of food once you get more of the storage space skill. Probably over 150 items.
Also if you have cheats enabled, you can hold ctrl-space, and time will fly by much faster.

No, but it's like, why would I want to sit in my dinky little village anyways.

And I know I'm gonna wind up with a woefully ineffective character because I screwed up my stats or something.

In one, long battle, the grand Nord army was reduced to rubble.
And the highlight of the night? Shooting down that motherfucker Lord Toregor and his big ugly hat before he even stepped on the siege ladder. Kickass.

Also, i inexplicably lost a LOT of renown with king harlaus. What would do that? I'm still a lord and stuff....
Also, having captured lords is fun, and i refuse to ransom them.
Also, how do you edit your character? My healer and spotter both ran away, and I haven't been able to find them again. I'd like to just max out those stats, so that I can get rid of all my utility heroes, and just hang on to my trainers.
"Great job rebuilding your burnt-out husk of a town! Now give me all your fucking money."
You mean reputation?
Have you captured any castles recently? Did he deny you ownership and you took it anyway? Did you fail to show up when he asked for your presence?
press C, hit the button in the lower left, export.
This folder?
C:\Program Files\Mount&Blade\CharExport
If so, make sure you have cheats enabled, you may need that in order to export/import since it is a cheat.
Ah, that would be it, I don't have cheats enabled. How do I do that?
Edit: I just checked the OP, and it's not there. Maybe enabling cheats should be in there somewhere?
Another Edit: Can you answer my earlier question, can I support the claimant to the Khergit throne without losing my Swadian land?
It should be in the options in the newer builds I believe. You can also just check gamefaqs to get instructions.
And no you can't, it will take your land when you renounce your oath to the king, to start the rebellion.
Man, my king is such a bastard. It's not like I'm rebelling against him, I'm actually fighting against an enemy. Oh well, I only have 1 city anyway, and the Swadians are such morons about fighting wars. We've had our only enemy, the Vaegirs, confined to two castles, for about 100 days, and nobody is doing anything about it. Time to switch camps, maybe.
Okay, I tested it and it works.
mst_lead_charge lead_charge
and then in that section, change
-22.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0 1 1106 1 216172782113783918
to
-22.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1 2075 1 1 0
Note that this would only apply to combats where you choose "Lead your men into battle", not sieges, training towns to deal with bandit raids, etc.
Yeah I meant rep.
And yeah, I capped a castle, but when he gave it to some other asshole, i accepted it.
When he wanted me to chill by him for 3 goddamn days for now reason while he just kinda picked his nose, I did it.
The asshole.
Here is why you should get the Battle Sizer mod and then set the limit to 1000 and unlimited corpses:
I call this piece "The Crow's Feast":
There are lots of bodies here:
I will need to wash this armor:
And finally, archers more like lolchers mirite?
Time doesn't pass very fast otherwise, since you can travel from one edge of the realm to the other in one day.
Also you can carry a lot of food once you get more of the storage space skill. Probably over 150 items.
Also if you have cheats enabled, you can hold ctrl-space, and time will fly by much faster.
No, but it's like, why would I want to sit in my dinky little village anyways.
And I know I'm gonna wind up with a woefully ineffective character because I screwed up my stats or something.
