Upgrading Cell Phone - Need Suggestions

InfestedGnomeInfestedGnome Registered User regular
Okay, so my current cell phone is pretty old and I would like to replace it since Verizon is giving me the chance to upgrade it.

But I have no idea what a good phone is nowadays. I don't need a whole bunch of weird stuff on it, I would just like it to play MP3s as my ringtone and do other normal phone things.

Do you guys have any suggestions? Here are the phones they are offering at the store near me:

The actual contract is in my Dad's name so I dont know if they are going to limit which cellphone I can upgrade to or what but hopefully they let me choose what I want

This should be a pretty good start.
You should be able to get any phone you want, but the expensive phones don't add much, they're just newer.
I just got a Samsung Juke, and it's pretty nice. The downsides are it uses a 2.5mm headphone jack instead of 3.5mm like every other audio player (time to get out the soldering iron), and you can't set any of the music you send to it with MTP as a ringtone. But hey, it was free, it gets decent reception, and it does normal phone-type things.

Hmmn, I would really like something that could play MP3 as ringtones, sick of the MIDI sounding files

You can use mp3s as ringtones, just not the ones stored in the 2gb of music storage.
