Cannot install flash player plugin

I'm on vista, on a 2.4 dual core athlon.

Flash player stopped working yesterday out of nowhere. The first problem I had was when I was trying to watch Zero Punctuation, the player threw an error. I uninstall and reinstall the player, with nothing special happening. The error does not go away.

I start up steam (which uses flash on its front page) and it tells me that I need to install the flash plugin. I uninstall/reinstall again, but nothing seems to recognize that the plugin is installed. I've tried removing all of the flash products from the add/remove programs list and then reinstalling, but nothing.

Installing the flash player seems to work just fine, with a message telling me it has completed. The installation details are:

Output folder: G:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
Delete file: G:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll
Extract: NPSWF32.dll
Extract: NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe
Extract: flashplayer.xpt
Created uninstaller: G:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\uninstall_plugin.exe
Completed

Any suggestions?
