So, here's the deal. Got a brand new spankin' laptop. The kind of computer you take to long journeys to the north, vacations, and so on. The thing is, it has two major drawbacks:
- For the time being, no internet connection. I know, heresy.
- It ain't too powerful.
So what I'm looking for right now are games that have long lasting value, don't require a terribly powerful computer and do not need an internet connection to enjoy. Because then, I would simply play TF2.
ATI X1250, 1.88 Ghrtz dual core, 4g RAM, and I should check if you want more details, but you get the idea.
Recommend me, oh wise forumers.

I also recommend indie games such as Cave Story, Within a Deep Forest, Knytt/Knytt Stories, and La Mulana.
Sins of a Solar Empire
DEFCON
Cave Story
Touhou Project
Spelunky
Also, I'd strongly recommend Civ 4, and a Bioware RPG. Any of them, really.

Yeah, I have Baldur's Gate 2 and never got to play it much, so it sounds like a great idea. It's just that every time I installed it, something else came along that I really really wanted to play, plus, I never could understand the 2nd ed. DnD rules. Because, you know, never played DnD. South america. People don't have the slightest clue what that is even. Similar to 4x games, like Galactic Civilizations. Got the demo and understood absolutely nothing. I was dumb.
Generals is malleable as fuck, too.
I use an FPS optimizer that sets the draw distance really low, so it isn't pretty, but serviceable if you want to play Morrowind for some reason.
Oblivion works on an EEE PC. Not as well as Morrowind, but it's functional.
It should be functional on the laptop described in the OP as well, if you're willing to do some modding and config tweaking. I play it on an Intel X3100.
Rise of Nations is great if you appreciate the concept behind the Civilization games but can't get past how freaking long they take. It has a few "conquer the world" type campaigns which are sort of fun, though the game is always best on LAN.
Dwarf Fortress would be amazing, if you like that sort of thing.
King's Bounty: The Legend is good offline fun. I haven't playing anything outside the demo, but it was pretty fun.
I know UT2004 is supposed to be an online game, but I play it alone against bots a lot more than I do against actual people. Bots are loyal, might be mistaken for intelligent, and never shoot you in the back with rockets.
Sonic CD, Megaman Legends, and Beyond Good and Evil are all older actiony type titles, but I like them a lot. No internet required for awexome.
Worms Armageddon is pretty fun.
Knights of the Old Republic is fun, but it will suck away soooo much time. I watched the sequel slowly destroy my roommate my second semester of college, so I've been leery of starting on that one.
By 'any of them' we mean 'start with Planescape: Torment'
Oh, right. I have a friend who raves about the Fallout games. They are turn-basedish and rather laptop friendly.
I WILL NOT BE DOING 3DS FOR NWC THREAD. SOMEONE ELSE WILL HAVE TO TAKE OVER.
Spoiler contains Friend Codes. Won't you be my friend?

Both incredible games that ask little from your laptop. You won't get the online leaderboards with the Goo Tower building at the Corporation, but there's still a good 6+ hours for you.
Can't say much about CPD, but if the Beta was any indicator, 20$ worth of content will be a must buy.
Bullshit, those fuckers ALWAYS shot me in the back with rockets.
It looks like World of Goo is going to be a Gold Box discount game on Amazon on Monday.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
Somebody always suggest this in these threads, but really.. Dwarf Fortress destroys processors for fun.
Crayon Physics is really awesome. Spelunky too. Audiosurf might run and would then be glorious.
ScummVM is, as always, a must, that shouldn't even need to be mentioned. Grim Fandago, in a related vein.
Planescape falls in this category as well.
EDIT:
Wait a minute. Hold the fuck up. I check up on these suggestions and find out that there's a co-op mod for Morrowind? MUST HAVE!
Audiosurf plays decently well on my EeePC, complicated songs can be a little difficult, but it's still a lot of fun. The minimum specs for Audiosurf are a 1.6GHz P4 with 512MB of RAM and a 32MB GeForce 2 or higher class GPU, and I have a 1.6GHz Atom with a gig of RAM and a GMA950.
I have to play it at minimum settings, but the spartan look suits the game well. I think the biggest holdup is my integrated video, but having a beefier CPU wouldn't hurt, either.
Basically, it should play fine on the OP's system. The only problem is, I don't know where you can get it other than Steam, which can have trouble working offline.
