Oblivion Mods.

So my friend gave me Oblivion + both expansions (people love to give me free stuff) and I've just installed them all. However, I pirated the game a few weeks ago to give it a shot and I had some performance issues. It ran worse than FO3 even in the little dungeons. SO.

I would like to know if anybody could tell me some good mods to rebalance the game (fix the level scaling please), optimize the performance and generally make it a better game. I don't really know where to start and I don't want to spend a million hours playing with mods to be able to enjoy the game.

Any help, links or names of good collections would be appreciated. Character build suggestions would be cool too. Or just discuss the game, I enjoy reading about weird stuff that happens in these kinds of titles.

Thanks, gents.

    www.tesnexus.com

Theres alot of performance related mods on there, There's some that reduce the number of polys the gameworld has to increase performance without any really noticeable quality loss.

Is boring after 14 hours and melee sucks and is even more boring in it. Once the Enclave got involved on my Shishkebab rapist I just stopped playing. Devoured 99% of my stimpaks as soon as I got them due to eating asshole plasma.

Also, thanks for the TESNexus link. I don't have time to sift through this now but I'll get to it later.

Two totally different games. Similar mechanics, but two completely different games.

And I played Oblivion far more than I'll ever play FO3.

The mods I was into probably aren't for you. I always downloaded the texture mods and added city mods. Stay away from anything that adds anything 'outdoor city'. Stay away from anything that gets rid of the city walls. MAKE SURE TO STAY AWAY FROM HARVEST MODS. They lag like hell.

This is a good website that shows you how to tweak your INI file to get better performance or a better looking game... http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_8.html

Go to www.tesnexus.com for anything mod related, it is the best website out there.

Now to get a proper level system IS going to take time. There are so many mods out there, and to be honest, it all depends on your choice of what you want out of your leveling system. I prefer Oscuro's Oblivion Overhall. The problem is I don't like half the stuff he has in it so I disable most of it. Such as he puts it some of the hardest monsters you will ever fight, and it gets insanely frustrating when all of a dungeon is crabs and one room is full of ghost warriors who run like a track star and swing like Conan.

Yeah OOO is great if you do not want the default leveling system. And I enjoyed the extra goodies he includes, but it really is up to you what you want from it or not.
