Amazing the motivational power of a few upbeat level tags. I've republished with a better ending and some minor tweaks (like music).

And I only missed the entire first half of the footie game to do it. Erk. Damn you, LBP and your addictiv-oh, I can't stay mad at you.

Wait, you guys are looking for people for co-op parts?

    Ooh! PICK ME!

(There's really only one level I must do, because I'm pretty sure the part I need is in a co-op area)

Darnit, I'm not sure if I will be able to finish in time. I'm really happy with my opening part of my Sci-Fi level, but I think I may have used up all my creativity in that part, because everything after that looks half-assed.

I dragged the green square (key) over to the emitter (i think; it was green and attached to the ground) where it stopped; and the floor opened up. I dropped down where I couldn't see my guy and I moved right (away from the nerdy guy) and then I went as far I could go, I just tried jumping around and such..but it seemed like I was stuck

I guess I didn't get spat out...it was after I got past the cop and went past the neon signs. I'll try again and see if I have the same problem..

I got it to work this time. When you drop down from the neon sign area, there is that green square you can drag..(at least when I played).

It seems like there might be a hole in the ground nearby the re-entrance (where there are the tron like wheels and you drop down to the scientist). And I had the misfortune of jumping back in space or something..it was odd it didn't happen the second time..

So maybe it was just a bug with the game, if there isn't a hole in the ground somewhere..

I had the same initial problem, getting up to the neon bits, falling down and then just moving to the left, dropping down a couple of times. End up over with the emitters, a mag switch and a block of dissolvable material.

The spotlights were tough. I ended up getting it only on my last life, but got to the end three times. First time I continued right into the mist, second time I jumped in with what I realised was an elevator when it crushed me. Third time was the charm.

    Art direction was ace.

Yeah, I just republished it. Now there are electric hover cars that kill you if you fall from the neon signs.

Making those lights even reasonably easy caused so much frustration you don't even know.

Also, have you guys noticed the framerate acting kind of shitty when you played it? I don't think the game likes the constant calculations for the changing lighting.

Maybe replace one of the lights in the middle with a platform for a rest? It did feel kinda endless.

The framerate was fine, but there was constant screen tearing down in the lower half of the level. Once the blackouts stopped, everything was good.

The first time I played your level, before you re-published it for the electrified hovercars, the spotlights would swing to an upright position, and then back down. After your re-publish, they're locked in position and are pretty much impassable. I've restarted the level a few times but they're "fixed" to no longer swing. I'm not sure if that was the idea or not. :)

I wasn't able to get past the black sticky mountain above the lights (after the red elevator takes you up).

From what I played it was pretty tricky, I personally think you should get rid of the > shape thats above the electronic cars (I found it a bit confusing, as I wasn't sure where to let myself fall off while on the rotator).

Character design is really awesome. (Thought you would want to know, for some reason the mouth on the criminal's belt becomes visible after you defeat the cop and he fixes the elevator. It isn't that noticeable, but after falling down a few times I saw it )

Do we have an entry list compiled for this run yet? It would be helpful for the runs through for voting and whatnot. I'll volunteer this post for the list if we haven't got one yet. Let me know on these so I can edit them in.

    Week 2: Sci-Fi Theme
    Level - PSN

    Journey's Fall - Darth_Mogs

Blackout at Sci-Fi City - mushpie

Rise of the Little Big Machines - DavidThrax

    Intergalactic Planetary 2 : Jupiter - EdS25

I'm pretty sure MetaHybrid is working on his, and Saw776 might have been entering, but I don't have PSN handles off-hand.

How do mag keys attached to dissolve material work? I tried dissolving a block with a key to stop a wheel, but it just kept turning like the key was still there. Is there a way to stop a mag key from existing? Or possibly some way to make something dissolve when a creature does?

You can make any kind of material dissolve if you stick a brain on it and rig a one-shot switch up to it.

Yeah. Sometime down the road, I'm going to do a level about the inside of the bunker, end then possibly another follow-up, depending on how I decide the 'story' goes.

But the more I think about it, after I get my LBP chops up a little better, I'd like to do a "Director's (Or more appropriately, Publisher's) Cut" of Journey's Fall, because I acknowledge it's short as is, and I wanted to expand on it some; I just got frustrated with adding to the ship and basically, all I had sketched out was the ship parts. I more or less winged the planet's surface, especially the Jetbike part.

About the screen; does it come as showing what's on the terminal, instead of "Oh, hey there's a giant screen coming down for no reason"? Because obviously, the former is what I was shooting for.

I immediately read it as a terminal. I was a bit confused as to why it blew up so quickly, but I presumed it was a malfunction (as happens in a lot of sci fi).

It seems like a giant screen's coming down.

Maybe, and this would be pretty hard to pull off well, but maybe if it was a larger picture, showing a Sackboy looking in shock at the screen, it would give the right impression.

OK, republished for the last time. Figured out how to have a door down that needed the boss to die before opening, instead of being "Oh, you've heroically saved the ship from the machines by running past the big one! ♪ Bravely ran away, away ♪".

I was dissolving the switch instead of the key. Doh.

It blew up so quickly because I just wanted it to go down, activate the "The.....the ship..!" mouth and go boom, since that was an easy reaction based on how the timer (I did a dark matter tower with magnetic key blocks since it was the solution that worked the best for me at the time) went. I would've much rather had the screen come up than down, but that Back layer was a pain in my ass and that was the way it worked for me. Also, the sticker'd bomb in the center of it wasn't just on the back layer, of course. The "Live Feed" was just there to try and emphasize that it was the screen of the terminal, but I knew it'd be a little stretch.

Maybe I'll be able to pull off the idea you had, Speed, in the future. Because that would help get my idea across a lot better; but I don't have the amount of talent or experience for it yet.

Well once again I only got half a level complete in the deadline. But here are my thoughts on this week's sci-fi levels.

Mushpie/Speed- Really great concept, I loved the look of everything, and how polished it seemed aesthetically. The idea of everything turning on and off was great, and it took me back to plug man. Unfortunately the actual mechanics of the level were a bit frustrating. The elevator to spinning star felt imprecise. The cop robot seemed a bit harsh as well, (The window to get to his hand combined with the plasma timing, plus the darkness) twice I ended up falling off the upper VR platforms and getting stuck in a place where I couldn't continue.

Darth_mogs- I really like the way this level feels. It's not something I can put my finger on, but it's always moving, and it feels very alive. I thought the planetfall in the middle was a great way to change pace, and I liked the little one room challenges at the start. Unfortunately I also encountered a few bugs in those opening rooms. In one attempt the grate into the next room wouldn't open after being grabbed and the block you jump off fell down. As well as the lights not lowering in the room previous on a different attempt.

Thrax- I liked the dream sequence at the start, and a lot of stuff that happened technically in this level. When the level turns on its side it was really cool and felt pretty unique. The boss was fun too. I was less a fan of the electricity sections, they didn't feel as interesting as the rest of the stage.

Overall I thought all three levels were pretty great, but if I could only play one. . .

    Darth_Mogs.

Yes, please. Also none of the emoticons show the amount of surprise I got from the ringing endorsements. Seriously, you guys, thanks; makes me feel glad that I attempted it, and apparently did well.

After the deadline's up (maybe not directly after, but soon after), I'll jump on and play the other entries real quick so I can vote.

    Edit: Also,
Unfortunately I also encountered a few bugs in those opening rooms. In one attempt the grate into the next room wouldn't open after being grabbed and the block you jump off fell down. As well as the lights not lowering in the room previous on a different attempt.

Do you mean the Grate wouldn't fall down, for the first bug? And yeah, the box needs to be a little bigger. That spaceship model works in a pinch, but it's difficult to jump from, especially for the jump you have to make. I'll fix that when I revise it for the screen and pod. The lights, though; do you mean they didn't swing down, so you couldn't jump on? Because that, and the first issue sound like my dissolve blocks not dissolving, which is...weird. o.O
