And i've recently bought a 360 as well as I wanted something that had decent, mature games, unlike the wii which I had previously (still got it, but i mainly use it for online Mario Kart now), but short of Final Fantasy XI, which to be honest I'm not particularly keen on, and Final Fantasy XIII coming out sometime in the future i'm at a loss.
I've checked out Blue Dragon but it seems, well, childish and not really my thing. i've also had a gander at The Last Remnant but again, i'm not too keen. Can you guys help me out with finding a JRPG turn-based game on 360?
I also got a 360 recently, and im really enjoying Lost Odissey, the plot is ok so far, the combat is entertaining and the Thousand years of dreams short stories are great.
Lost Odyssey? i'd heard about that very vaguely, but i've just checked it out. looks like just what I'm after. Nice graphics and style, back-to-the-basics turn-based gameplay. Fantastic. Thanks paco
I've heard people say about lost Odyssey that they're stuck on the 4th disc. 4 discs? My longest game so far was LotR: The Third Age and that was only two. How long is this game?

I never played it but I've heard some good stuff about Eternal Sonata. Also, you can check out Enchanted Arms. It's not amazing but it's decent.
Eternal Sonata is only partially turn-based. It starts off completely turn-based, but as you progress through the story, gets progressively closer to real-time action.

Im about 7 hours into disc 2, but it took me more than 10 hours to finish disc 1.

*Jaw drop* So if I get it it will be the longest game I have ever encountered. But I heard something about the save points being really far apart, and since I usually don't get a lot of time with all the crap I have to get done for whatever purpose I tend to game in short bursts. So the far spread save points could be a problem for me

So far saving has not been an issue, theres save points pretty much at the beginning and end of every area, town or dungeon, so if you have to go in a hurry you probably wont loose much.

Oh good. I hate having to redo stuff because I haven't got enough time to get to the next far-flung save point
I haven't fired up LO yet, but Lost Remnant is excellent. Well, gameplay wise and most of the story I've encountered so far. However, I have found cutscenes difficult to watch because the main character is such a whiny little bitch. He reminds me of Tidus, if that helps your decision.
Hasn't come out yet here in the EU (so I can't vouch for it personally) but I heard good things about it.
Not exactly turn based, though.
Honestly, if you've written off Blue Dragon and Last Remnant, then you're dismissing the two best turn-based JRPGs on the system. Lost Odyssey is your next bet.
I'm going to toss another recommendation for The Last Remnant. The story was interesting (albeit short, most of the content is in the side-quests) and the gameplay very good. I wish more JRPGs would use the perfect combination of features Remnant had. It makes it easy for the player to have fun instead of getting frustrated - save anywhere, increase stats/learn skills by activity instead of EXP, health restored after every battle, etc.
Enchanted Arms was awful. I don't even know why anyone would recommend that. Blue Dragon was fun, but I was ultimately very disappointed with the story. Nothing really happened at all in it. The main characters didn't go through much or any character development. And the story followed the exact same flow as Dragon Quest 8, which annoyed me.
Flow spoiler:
You chase around a villain through the entire game, him always escaping your grasp, until the very end where it turns out he's not the ultimate villain and you're introduced to the real bad guy, who never speaks a word, in the last five minutes.
All in all, it felt kind of empty. I enjoyed Lost Odyssey a great deal more, but the story lost itself in the last half. It started out with a bang, and the mystery of the immortal characters was interesting. Then the cliches went into overdrive.
It's still worth playing it, but Remnant is my recommendation for now. If you can get Odyssey cheap, play that next.

Other than that, it's pretty slim pickings.

Go for the Last Remnant instead.

In that case I'd probably recommend The Last Remnant.
