I lost my graphic models somehow

So, since the wife has been fully absorbed into Fable II this whole week. I've reaquanted myself with my PC games. Specifically Warcraft III.
I beat Reign of Chaos in about 3 days which was fine, but after starting up Frozen throne, I noticed something wierd.
It seems the models for building structures are now gone for Undead and Night Elf structures.
As in, when you use an acolyte to summon a building, normally there is that green pool looking thing and those skelatal limbs that shoot up, yeah not there. The only thing is the building fades in blue during the last 90% of cunstruction.
Similarly the nightelves don't have that patch of grass and rocks swirling around, the only thing they get is a building rising out of the ground at 90% completion.
The Human and Orc buildings are entirely unaffected which is very confusing.
My first thought was it was just Frozen throne. So I went back to RoC and the models are now gone there too.
I've tried both Campaign and Quickplay.
Because there was a patch to be had I uninstalled and reinstalled everything, so with no patches, they still aren't there.
I've set everything in the video options to max, and still nothing. I don't know why but this is driving me nuts.
