google only started doing that after they had an established brand, though.

i'm confused about what the crit is, is it that inchworms have segments or something about google?
cause i have no control over google or what the website is called, they just want a family of mascots

inchworms have segments, is what they were saying

and the worry is that people may not associate the birds with the brand

but you find something that fits well, it'll work

the only worry I would have is that the birds dont have enough individual personality

    they're not mascots right now

    they're just birds

they're cute and well drawn birds

but nothing says "oh, those are those (insert website name here) birds"

    ya know?

To be honest though, that the first see through bird feeder I've ever seen, because In Australia we like our bird feeders like we like our women, full of seed and non-see through.

You like your women pregnant? Interesting.

@Beavo: I can kind of see why they wouldn't like the bird designs... they are very cute, but they dont' stick out enough to say anything unique about the family/ business.

i should specify that the "mascot" is not so much a brand identifier as it is something to attract people to stay on the site and look around a bit
    something consistent and "family friendly"
it will only be used on the website

so it's not really a "mascot" per se
more like, something to catch a viewer's eye and attention

Honestly, I think a lot is lost from your sketch to the vector illustration. I like the sketch better. I feel that without the linework you really need to play up value and temperature differences to make her read better.

One major difference is that, in the colored version, her hair covers most of her left (our right) eye removing a lot of her character.

the client loves it so i'm not messing with it at all
honestly with this sort of crap, i just like getting paid hahah but i will try to maintain some of the character in the other ones, and if they like those, i might tweak ma a bit at the end of it all.

i'm not going to add inking because they really like that "web 2.0" character design

Well as long as the client loves it, and is willing to give you paper money for it, then it doesn't matter how brilliant the white space is between her legs.

Those sketches are nice, you've really got a nice coloring style going without using lines no less.

Also, I've been meaning to ask, how do you get those quick outlines around your figures. I saw you do it real quick in that tutorial, but I dunno.

Maybe my horribly outdated PS7 doesn't have that feature...
