I mean who doesn't like hearing about death and blood.

Oh hell yes they talk about killing nazis. And Nazis dying from cold and disease. Basically all kinds of nazi death.

I dig it, it has a folky sound that I dig, kind of reminds me of the modest mouse singer for some reason.

The only videos on youtube for those songs are terrible live ones, so here are some other ones.

    Ordered Eastward
    Hear the engines roaring
    Hear the grinding steel
    Advancing divisions
    Behind armoured wheels
    They're driving through the clouds
    They're staggering through the mud
    Panic, fear and terror
    An enemy on the run

    Artillery is ploughing
    The earth of foreign land
    Screaming stukas drop
    their deadly load
    Einsatzgruppen murdering
    On the Führer's command
    Heavey calibre mortars explode

    Seven armies marching
    About 3 million man
    Operation Barbarossa
    Sealing Russia's end
    Nebelwerfer launching
    Granates scourge the ground
    Heralds of the Blitzkrieg
    Hell can't bear their sound

    Iron wall of fire
    Glowing melting sand
    60 centimetre railwayguns
    An earthquaking thunder
    From the hinterland
    Forged in flames this pandemonium

    We were ordered eastward
    Hate is on our side
    Born and raised to fight
    Global domination
    Stalwart to the core
    The mother of all wars
    Brainwashed for destruction
    Tools for the third reich
    Breed of indoctrination
    All of you must die

    Annihilate resistance
    None of them were warned
    Suffering from starvation
    Insufficiently armed
    Decapitated soldiers
    Rattling torsos cry
    Horses mutilated
    Neighing agonized

    Facing Armageddon
    Total war is here
    Superior material and men
    Tiretracks approaching
    Gruesome death is near
    Another comrade's life
    comes to and end

    Nachthexen
    Summer 1941
    Instructors start to train
    A night bomber squadron
    The 588th
    Regiment of women
    From pilots to mechanics
    Claim their role in history
    These aviatrixes

    Polikarpov biplanes
    Providing ground support
    Temperature plummeting
    To minus 54
    Climbing the dark cloudened sky
    Engaged in dog-fights
    Up to 18 missions
    In one single night

    High above Rodina
    For the umpteenth raid
    Female fighter aces
    Send their bombs away
    Through the deafening sirens
    Struck by heavy flak
    Although riddled with bullets
    All made it safely back

    Shrieking madonnas
    Lead spitting banshees
    Baptize them in fire
    Iron Valkyries
    Incoming Nachthexen
    Set the ground ablaze
    Push the throttle up again
And hear their screams of pain

The second one is about a Russian airforce female bomber squadron, which I had never heard about prior to this.

as far as Sunset Rubdown goes I'm partial to The Courtesan Has Sung if only for
    "Five actors have arrived
They are good-looking but they’re hungry
They start looking with the trash found on the
    Safety
    Of the stage

Something about "The Men are Called Horsemen There" s repetition strikes me too.

Here is a good one from Shut Up I Am Dreaming of a Place Where Lovers Have Wings
He wants to send you drawings
Drawings of men with faithful hands
They will make such good boyfriends
He wants to tell you stories
Stories of boys who stomped their feet saying,
“Shut – shut up I am dreaming of places
    Where lovers have wings"

If you want good Modest Mouse, check out Moon and Antarctica and earlier.

Even though it is just an EP, "Everywhere and His Nasty Parlour Tricks" is a fucking great album.

Also, Sun Kil Moon did a wonderful MM cover album, called Tiny Cities.

The actual song starts about 1:45 in

I have not heard of this band before, but I dig it, it reminds me of lounge music, if it was done by weirdos.

Try and find either Addicted to Bad Ideas or Red-Eyed Soul, those're their two best albums, at least in my opinion. Best quality, definitely, is Addicted to Bad Ideas, given that it's their most recent. Of course, it's all about Peter Lorre so if you don't love Peter Lorre maybe you won't be as big a fan as I.
