What pissed me off the most was this article in newsweek talking about the 'backwards evolution' of big game.

Saying that animals like elephants are losing their tusks/horns because the ones with the biggest tusks/horns have been hunted.

That's retarded. That is evolution right there. The animals that had a trait that made them less likely to be killed survived and passed their genes on to the next generation.

no, clearly it's only evolution if you get bigger

    (america is fat joke)
yes, we are the most evolved

    The Darwin F-150

by these criteria an F-350 with dual rear wheels would be a more evolved species

this species is also known to be decorated with "truck nutz" and confederate flag stickers

It doesn't make them retarded. They had an explanation to a horrific affliction stripped away. The explanation grounded them and probably helped them get through each day. Lashing out in emotional desperation does not make them retarded, Viv.
how doesn't ignoring rational and scientific explanations by people far smarter and better trained than they are not make them retarded?

it maybe makes their plight understandable, but purely from an intellectual standpoint they certainly don't rank very high on the ladder.

    Two things.

1st, the development systems of babies is still something of a mystery, so you can't presume what is medically acceptable for adults is true for babies.

2nd, the people who are pissed are by and large parents of autistic children who are mad at the world and are looking for some explanation as to why their children turned out this way. The belief that vaccines could cause autism was actually a well-spread idea. What this does is rob those parents of their explanation that absolved them of fault. No longer can they rationally rage at a clear mistake that someone else did. Part of the reason why they are upset is because they believe that they will be to blame for their child's autism.

this is why for babies, vaccines are given periodically... "booster" shots, if you will

and as for the latter point you make, UGH, you're right on that, but FUCK if that doesn't make them retarded

It doesn't make them retarded. They had an explanation to a horrific affliction stripped away. The explanation grounded them and probably helped them get through each day. Lashing out in emotional desperation does not make them retarded, Viv.
No, you're retarded if you're going to blame something entirely unrelated for what's happened to your child. It's one thing to bemoan the fact that your child ended up this way and be angry about it because for all you know it wasn't your fault. It's another to pick up a giant sign and march into a crowd of protestors and shout about how vaccines suck JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE THERE TO BLAME.

We might not agree on what makes retarded parents, but fuck - blaming vaccines for causing autism is effectively HARMING their children because a) it doesn't help the child any, now does it and b) they will raise that child to hate vaccines, and if that child reproduces, their kids will not get vaccinated, and OH GUESS WHAT HAPPENS THEN!

Grieving, lashing out in anger, that's fine. But taking up a stupid fucking cause as a means to lash out is fucking RETARDED.

You yourself are accusing them of being individuals who cannot think for themselves and believe the dumbest shit they hear just because so-and-so said it. How does that NOT make such individuals RETARDED?
