Confidence/happiness/self-acceptance/etc. building exercises?
Yes, me again. Now, as I continue my efforts to be a proper human being, I have a big issue. While success feels damn good, I can only get success every once in a while, even if I get it every time I try. And it's far too easy for me to slip into problematic ways of thinking that leave me feeling like shit and weaken my chances.
We need a way to fix this! Now, the obvious solution is some kind of mental or physical action I can undergo that makes me feel better, and can be done at any time. This rules out stuff like going out for a jog, or most forms of exercise in general. Basically, I need to be able to do it at 3 in the morning in a house where everyone else is asleep, without waking them up.
Is that even POSSIBLE? General simple lifestyle tweaks that'll have bigger effects are also good things to suggest, though with school now and college this fall, really big huge stuff is probably out.
Say hi to a complete stranger at least once a day. Worst case scenario they tell you to fuck off. Best case scenario, you gain a friend. Either way, you practice social skills.
join a 24 hour gym so you can go for a run or a swim there whenever you need?
Belruel, the issue comes more in not being able to leave the house late at night. If this stuff hits during the day, I can just go for a walk/jog. Which I DO need to do more.
So I need more stuff like situps and pushups I can do in my bedroom. Any thoughts beyond the obvious two I just mentioned along those lines?
EDIT: Working on that kinda thing, Brodo. This is more for something I can do at the drop of a hat when I'm feeling down, though, whereas that'd require at least the right time for people to be out and about.
just general stretches and exercises then i suppose. buy a few 10 pound weights (or heavier depending on how in shape you are) and just do reps with those to some music when you feel the need. should be pretty easy to find a book of exercises, or a website.
I remember The Cat posted a link to a sort of "mental gym". There were little exercice in there that helped you realising the pattern in your mind that were bad for you. I'll try to find the link and put it here. That would help with the mental part of your quest.
