So I installed Warcraft 2 on my wifes laptop (it's an old laptop), and played a round with her last night. It was the two of us versus a computer opponent, just to get warmed up. After about 30 mins with no enemy contact, I started to raise an eyebrow. I built a zepplin and scouted the map only to discover the AI had trapped his peons in between buildings in the center of his pathetic little town
It was dissapointing.
I played another round on my own with the same outcome.
It's been about 10 years since I played, but I don't remember the AI bring so stupid.
Anyone else have a similar story?
I've fully patched the game on both computers; are there any particular maps I should play for a more formidible opponent?

What sort of spec is this laptop? Because Starcraft might be a better option if you're looking to team up against the computer. IIRC it only required a 90 MHz PC, so unless the laptop in question's around a decade old you ought to be OK.

Its an old Fujitsu Lifebook 500mhz, with 256mb RAM and onboard video.
Ill give Starcraft a try tomorrow.
Was it a map with water / islands? I seem to remember that the WC2 AI had trouble with water if it didn't have a pre-built port. Age of Empires might be worth a shot if you need better AI. I don't think it gets caught up nearly as much.
war2 AI can be atrocious depending on the map. They get stuck on trees, get their peasants stuck, etc. There are some good team maps out there, but those are usually in the vain of 2v6 comps and be quite difficult, but fun.

That's what I figured. She's a RTS newbie. I'm gonna feel bad....you know......murdering my wife, but it's for her own good I guess
