New car - Need driving music

SlainbylichSlainbylich Registered User regular
edited January 2009 in Help / Advice Forum
Will be picking up a 5speed 2004 civic ex sometime next week after the title is transferred. This will be the first car I've owned that will actually have some sporty feel to it(being manual and all). So, I've been racking my brain for some good driving music, and I haven't come up with anything.

I'm looking for both fast paced and slow paced music, preferably electronic or techno. I will be tossing "let it rock" and "Untouched" onto my playlist, as well as "everlong" and "hunting high and low". I'm still lacking for decent music, so, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Super Eurobeat can be good driving music, if you're into that style.

Pendulum's Hold Your Colour album has some great electronica beats. Two or three slower songs, but hell, one of the songs is called Fasten Your Seatbelt. Here are the first two tracks in video form.

Blaqk Audio's Cexcells has gotten me through a lot of long drives, and it has a great mix of slow and fast songs.

Dragula by rob zombie will help you feel like a badass while you drive. I know it's really stupid, but every single one of my friends agree. It just *feels* good to listen to it while you drive. I don't actually listen to it any other time :P

music for a relaxing ride: Angels and Airwaves, Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, most of Box Car Racer

music that's energetic: Foo Fighters (everlong and Monkey Wrench are must listens), Alexisonfire, Dragonforce

music that's atmosheric: Brian Eno, Silversun Pickups, Smashing Pumpkins (melon colie as well as Siamese Dream)

if you're looking into slower, nightish driving music, check out Ladytron (specifically Witching Hour and Velocifero albums) and Presets (Apocalypso album).

Sort of dark electronica, very groovy for night driving i think

Can't belive no one has mentioned the best driving song ever, Radar Love:

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JeRa3RtBiIU

    She sells sanctuary:

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pieI3ctfMfM

Also another version of Intro and Slam by Pendulum, for no other reason than they are amazing live:

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BuVI45ZDDkk

Also I'm in a fast driving mood, so Autopilot Off, Faithless, The Vines, Social Distortion and Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins for singalongability.

If there is only one driving song, it is Green Onions by Booker T. and the MGs.

If you don't recognize it by name, YouTube it up or w/e. And you'll be able to put a name to a song you've heard all your life.

    My driving mixes always included:

    Golden Earing - Radar Love
    Metallica - Fuel
    Initial D - Remember Me
    Rammstein - Engel
    Mustafa Sandal - Kavrulduk
Eve 6 - Open Road Song

and generally whatever I was into at the time. A nice mix of driving related songs, with songs that just get you pumped. Never Gonna Come Back Down fits into this perfectly.

I find that Scatman John's title track, "Scatman", is pretty good for driving.

    Scatman John - Scatman

    BT's "Race Wars", is good.

    BT - Race Wars

As is "Go Speed Racer, Go!" by Ali Dee Theodore and the Deekompressors. from the Speed Racer film soundtrack, though be careful with this one as you may find yourself speeding because of it.

    Go Speed Racer, Go!

And finally, Dirty Vegas' "Days Go By".

    Days Go By

    And for the Lulz, Carmelldansen

    Caramell - Caramelldansen

    Black Betty - Ram Jam

To me there is really nothing better than smashing through downtown seattle from the U district to west seattle on I-5 at 4 in the morning. Or doing 100 on the viaduct at night while listening to this

I like it, sounds like something out of one of the old need for speed's, which led me to youtube this (first playlist result):

And OH MY GOD that brings back amazing memories. I recommend "Road Warrior" from NFS:HS (4):
But really anything from the early NFS series is amazing.

"People look at you as if you are scum" had me SO sold, but a stream of vomit has instead emanated from me.

This is the kind of thing I play at full volume when I want people to look at me like I'm a bastard, and I love every minute of it.

that reminds me, whenever I want to look the fool I'll blast anime soundtracks and j-pop/rock, which brings me to my next recommendation. Look for Skankfunk or the Air Gear Soundtrack.
