Layering foam core for diorama

Hey, artists.

I have a vector image that I have constructed with multiple layers. I want to print the layers and shapes on foam core, and cut them all out. I then want to put these together, layer by layer to form a diorama of sorts, to hang on a wall... basically building an image from the background layer to the top layer...

What do you suggest I use to stick them together? Also, I would love to use some sort of spacer to separate the layers by a fraction, so there is a nice shadow cast... how do you think I should handle that?

Thanks in advance!

This sounds like a job for the Question thread...

You probably want to use either contact cement or some sort of spray adhesive which should be available at any art/craft store. I think they actually sell some sort of spacers for scrapbooking which might work or you could use extra chunks of the foamcore or felt or rubber (again from a craft store).
