Damn, I'm going to be in a meeting in 10 minutes. Hmm, I wonder if I can sneak a peak at Joystiq or something during it ...

Also, I sense a lot of hyperbole. Really? Wii under 3 million would be "disappointing"?

If Nintendo is under 3 million, they're obviously going to be bought out by Apple.

After the buildup and speculation, yes, it would be a disappointment. Everybody likes to see records broken (does that even break any records?).

Eh, it would disappointing in the sense that they didn't break that 3 million mark. Regardless, the Wii numbers are going to bitch-slap the other two.

I'm really, really curious to see where the PS3 comes in number-wise.

Kotaku is usually pretty fast at giving the big three's statements on sales around the time the NPD's come out with how much they sold and all the PR rubbish that goes with it.

Astoundingly GAF is up again for the mean time.

Can't wait to see the Castlevidcon comic for this by days end either way.

    Yep.

The biggest November in US sales history, followed by the Wii failing to take over the PS2 vaunted 2.7 million slot? I'd say that would be disappointing considering the circumstances.

That's basically saying "Nintendo failed to ship enough units".

I want to see fucking 4 million of something sold.

Calm down. We're lucky if something breaks 3 million.
Anything above 797,600 for PS3 will be surprising.

Wasn't it on the blogs that PS3 sales for December dropped from November?

I don't remember reading that it dropped from November; perhaps you mean that it dropped in comparison to Dec '07, which is what i'm expecting.

    They dropped?!

Is that even possible, shouldn't December have improved sells no matter what or did the economy really start to hurt around that time?

The only thing we know about the PS3 numbers is they are around 740k give or take 20k. Can't for the life of me remember what the rationale for this was, some Sony figures in PR or something.

Sony posted pre-emptive PR blather about how their sales were up if you made some sort of obscure comparison and then sprinkled pixie dust on it, so yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if PS3 sales wound up being down.

FYI, MS is announcing quarterly earnings today, at 5 PM PST. It might mean that the PR stuff they send regarding NPDs might actually be bundled with that instead. This happened once before and people were wondering where was the "MS response". It wasn't missing, it was just handled with all of the other MS news that went out.

It's going to be a very interesting day ...

It will be very interesting to see how the price cut affected earnings.

Likewise it will be interesting to see how bad of shape Sony is in.
