Dammit, this reminded me how badly I want Rhythm Tengoku, in any shape or form! Ever since I saw little video clips of the first game and played the DS demo at PAX, I've been wanting to pick up at least one of the titles. But the GBA version seems like it's impossible to find for any decent price, and I'm still on the fence about importing the new DS one or waiting for the English version (it depends on what they change, if anything).
T-MEK. 2 of em for 4 player battles. I loved this game and the bass in the chairs was like a massage. I would get tired of it eventually and want to have a better tank battle sim in it.
That and I have a project on a loooonngg back burner of an elegant coffee table thats also a ms-pacman machine. I'll probably drape a black cloth over it just to mess with people. I have the board, and the power supply, I need the coffee table to build it into. Every time I see a coffee table, I always think "would that take an arcade LCD and pacman board well?"
I want a copy of Tombi, but it's so hard/expensive to find.
I scored a copy (it's called Tomba! in the US) complete for $5. Probably the best gaming find of my life.
It's impossible to find other than those rare "You're in the pawn shop and you're sorting through some bargain bin filled with eighty copies of Madden '99 and other crap and you see it and go 'Holy shit is that Tomba?' and it is" moments.
Hopefully it will show up on PSN sometime in the future so the prices on physical copies drop. I've been looking for the sequel for years.

Aren't the Tomba games also one of the few games that just refuse to work right on a PS2? It's odd that they stayed hard to find because if anything people should've been selling them because they no longer worked unless they hooked up a PS1. Would they work now on a PS3 or are they still messed up?
I have Panzer Dragoon Saga and an actual Nomad along with a few other rare items, but I've always wanted to get Magic Knight Rayearth for the Saturn. I saw it around the same time I picked up PDS (back in '97 I believe) from a Gamestop and thought I could come back later for it - been kicking myself for it ever since.
I think there are like five PS1 games that won't run at all on a PS2, and it's Mortal Kombat something or other and a few other shit games, and then Tomba. It's niice having a PS1 hooked up anyway, since there is a lot of cool shit you can do with the old Parallel Port GameSharks.
I think one of the Final Fantasy games in one of the anthologies/chronicles ports had some audio issues as well.
Not sure how Tomba runs on a PS3, but since PS1 emulation is done in software as opposed to hardware like the PS2 I would think it would be an easy fix.

Yeah thats how i got my second black label FF7 copy for $15, in a bin full of shitty old ps1 sports games. I think i also pulled out King of Fighters 98 sealed for $5 and Final Fantasy X for $10 (also black label but whatev.)

It's a bit expensive, but I think the first one is the better of the two. By a wiiiiiide margin.
When it comes to the second one, I'd wait for the English version. In both games, there are parts where you'll most likely be frustrated because you can't understand what's written or being said. It's a small enough issue that it shouldn't deter you from importing the first one, but it's big enough that you might as well wait for a translation when you can.

I hate you.
It's incredibly hard to find second hand games in Australia. And if you do find them, they aren't anything good. Which pretty much means I have to shop on ebay, and I am not paying that much for one old game.

Both games are excellent, but yeah, the first one is better. There's something about button pressing I prefer over drag and release.
This said, the best of the three is the arcade machine. With huge, sturdy buttons, I could press them harshly and quickly without fearing to damage the system and it was more precise than the GBA game (because I used my whole hand to press rather than the usual thumb). I got better scores on the arcade actually. When I was in Japan, I sunk enough money in those machines to buy myself a second copy of the GBA game. Also, they have a 2-player mode, and a tempo up stage. It's just awesome.

It's not as rare or sought after as it should be, last I checked.
I bought one for new at $49.99 a few years after it came out for a friend.
That's a fairly good price for the last US Saturn game ever made.
I got my copy the day it came out, and it was the only one the store had.

Believe it or not, I found a copy of Tomba 2, complete, three days ago at a Goodwill for $3.97. It blew my mind. I have yet to play it, but I'll have a lot of free time this weekend to dig into it.
Goodwill is THE place for rare game deals (that and yard sales, but Goodwill is essentially a yard sale in a store anyway). It's always a crapshoot, but I've found some of my best stuff there. (Black border FFVII, complete for $2.97 comes to mind. )
As far as wants go, I'd really like to score a Vectrex. My parents saw one at a flea market once for $5 and didn't get it because they didn't know what it was. However, a few months later they found an Intellivision with a bunch of games for $5 and picked it up for me so that made up for it.
I have or had and sold some of the stuff in this thread like the Q and some of the Sega Saturn games mentioned. Cubivore too. For some reason, my brother has 3 Neo Geo Pocket Colors. He loved that thing back in the day. Should probably look into selling at least one of them.
It's always funny when I see someone wanting a really rare game, like Cubivore. Being rare seems to make good games seem like great games to people.
With that said, the Tomba! discussion has me jonesing for some Tomba! I beat the 2nd one but never owned it. Played the demo of the first, which ruled. BTW I think the slim PS2 fixed the problems with Tomba but I'm not sure.
If it makes you feel any better, I once passed up a chance to buy a complete copy of Radiant Silvergun for $30. I regret it to this day. We can't be lucky all the time.
I usually just jump to the last page of multipage threads... but people want Cubivore?
Ugh.
I saw it in EBGames a few years ago used for like $45. I thought, "holy shit, a rare game I actually know about that sounds neat!"
So I bought it, discovered the game wasn't that fun, and that there had been a reprinting or somethign because I saw the game everywhere for about a week.
Edit: Amazon has Cubivore for $30ish, but a new electroplankton is $150. People are weird.

The one thing that really pops to mind is Intelligent Qube. I want that game so hard. Had a guy I used to work with that was going to loan it to me, but then he quit and got thrown in jail all in the same week.

I used to want it, and when I was looking, it was still going for $20. I wouldn't really pay much more than $10 anymore, since it was always a niche interest game and now it's pretty badly outdated.

What the fuck guys, I was gonna buy a SegaCD this month and SNATCHER.
NO ONE TOLD ME SNATCHER WAS 100 BUCKS!
Are you surprised at the price for being low or high? Snatcher is an incredibly rare game for the SegaCD, I'm surprised you found it for only $100. It's so worth it though.

I had no idea how rare my MvC2 for the Dreamcast is. I lost the case ages ago, but still have, and love, the game.
I personally loved the game "Blue Stinger" for the Dreamcast, and managed to get a Japanese release promotional poster on EBay for $1. It's so awesome to me - I think I'm the only one who loves the campyness of that game, so to have the big, over dramatic poster with all the Japanesee on it, it's so awesome to me.
I have a ton of Dreamcast stuff, so I guess it's 'rare', but it doesnt mean anyone actually WANTS it (Alien Front Online!)

I wish I still had my copy of Dragon Warrior IV and the U-Force controller that had no matching game. Now a U-force is just big and stupid and DWIV is a little expensive. But to this day I've retained my APF TV Fun Model 401 (Pong Machine from 1976), Intellivision, and Grey NES Zapper.
Just remembered something else. Earthworm Jim 2 for the PS1. People say it exists, I have seen no evidence of it. I have never seen a physical copy of it, the only pictures I ever seem to find of it online are stock photos, and my friend's store that has the price of every obscure game ever has no price for it. I'm really starting to wonder if it actually does exist.

Jim 2 is still amusing but the visual impact is lost somewhat on the PSX. This is after the Age of Polygons. All credit to a great game design, but something new, please.
Back in the day when I was but a wee lad, new to PC gaming, I bought Final Fantasy 7 for the PC. The one with the trapezoidal box. After I beat it, I sold it back to EB Games for $5.
But it's not all bad. I snagged the Platinum version of FF7 for a couple of bucks a few months later when I spotted it on a clearance table at the same store.

I want either of the arcade D&D games. Too bad they are rare as hell. Plus to get one you're looking at around $1000 bucks total to get either one, and that's if they don't need any repairs or spare parts.
I have a mint, boxed copy of Faselei, for the Neo Geo Pocket Color. Yes, i know this is a 'things you want' thread, rather than 'things you have', but hey...
Shame the unlit crappy screen of its native system makes it fairly unplayable except in bright lighting, but huzzah for RACE!PSP...
What i want is the Japanese Resident Evil 5 collector's edition, and not the crap we're going to get here in Europe.

It has the Squaresoft logo on the front-left chest and Cloud on the back with some info on him like Class: Ex-Soldier etc, etc.
