I have the big trapezoid box version of FFVII PC, strategy guide too. I don't think they're rare, but talking about the big box version of FFVIII PC reminded me of it.
As far as rare games go, I don't know what is or isn't rare anymore. I have almost every fighting game made for the DC and about half of the PSX's RPG library. What PSX RPGs are really considered rare?
I also have a PC port of the original Ikari Warriors. I don't know if it's rare but I've always thought it was cool.
A Sega Saturn and Shining Force III. And since we're dreaming, Scenarios 2 & 3 in english would be nice.
Oh WTF I have this game still, I think. Original box and manual. Didn't know the fucker is worth over $100 on Ebay. I bought it new for like $30 when I was given a Saturn back in the day.
Really hope I still have it. Probably played it twice.

Valkyrie Profile, black box FFVII(non-GH), Suikoden II, the Lunars(especially complete with the collectibles), Vanguard Bandits, Persona 1, Persona 2(slightly less since it was recently reprinted, but Persona 1 is now really sought after). Maybe every PS1 FF, but I guess non-GH FF7 is the rarest.
I used to have a Nomad. The screen was awful, it ate 6 batteries every time I played it for a few hours, it turned off at random, and it was about as portable as a brick. I sold it and bought a CDX to play my Mega Drive games on instead.
Do not buy things just because they sound cool, the Nomad is awful. I'm much happier with all the old games collections that they keep releasing for the PSP and DS than I was with that waste of cash. I always wondered if it would work with a 32X mind, never got the chance to find out.
This is where you are wrong. The Nomad is awesome. Don't use batteries, track down a battery pack or just snag the AC Adaptor from your Genesis (MK-2103).
I had one in high school, and oftentimes my lunch period would be spent playing Phantasy Star II or Super Hang On with friends.
I've always wanted one of those controller converter cables. Only then will I be able to use a gamecube controller aimlessly on my PS2. I know i've seen those somewhere before.
I don't think those exist. The GC controller does not have enough buttons to work as a PS2 controller. However, PS2->GC converters do exist (I have 2). If you have both systems it's a great way to save money and get enough GC controllers for 4-player games. Be warned, though, that the PS2 analog sticks are not as good as the GC ones, although it's only been an issue for me when playing Super Monkey Ball.
I want something similar: a PS2->DC converter cable. I have an old Asciiware PS joystick and a DC copy of MvC2. These two need to meet......badly.
This is slightly on the topic of that, and it's the best place I could think to ask about it.
Is there any way to get a USB converter for a Dreamcast keyboard? I haven't picked it up in a while, but I would love like hell to be able to use that for my PS3 instead of buying a whole new one.

Probably Tactics Ogre also, come to think of it.
Xenogears seems to be back in demand. Seems the GH version is out of print.
Things I have:
An original print run of Metal Gear Solid (the one with the Silent Hill demo. ).
A copy of UBIK, by Cryo Interactive. It's a real-time squad-based tactics game based on the novel by Philip K. Dick, and was one of my favourite games when I was but a wee lad.
Realms of The Haunting (rare, excellent, old FPS) in its original large box. Fuck yeah.

Goofyor cool shit I own:
Going way back to the first page, I have an Xband for the SNES. I used to play Mario Kart all day on that thing, I think I was 12.
Mentioned previously, I know someone who owns the PSO Keyboard/joystick for Gamecube. This friend got me hooked on PSO as well, so I have the Game Cube Broad Band Adapter, as does he. He also has a server running on his home network for personal use in Eps 1 2 or 3.
I also, for mind fuckery purposes, own an adapter to use a dualshock on the Cube.
There are 4 Working Design games in my collection for PSX; Lunar 1 and 2, the Arc the Lad Collection and Elemental Gearbolt.
Finally, because I'm a terrible whore, I have a physical key from GTA4 for 100% the game in the first month.
I've got Warsong for the Sega Genesis, Working Designs Ultra Series and Dark Wizard for the Sega CD, a complete in box (with VHS tape!) Activator ring (I uploaded this and a few hard to find PC games as well.
I more or less put a stop to collecting a few years ago (got tired of buying things that I hardly played), but I do still specialize in all things Treasure.
Asute observers should notice two games missing from the first picture: their most-recent title (waiting for a localization) and their rarest.
The only other true "collectable" that I'd say I have is the Segagaga limited set w/ t-shirt, journal, etc.
I also have some other valuable titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga and Dragon Force, but nothing truly "rare."
My friend owns probably the 1 thing you would be after, He managed to get hold of a 64DD dev kit online, anyway it already had some code on the thing for well part of a level for an arcade shooter done by treasure.
For collectables I have but haven't mentioned, I have OOT Master Quest in both its Japanese and American versions, Zelda Collectors Edition (American), Twilight Princess GC Japanese (it was not sold on stores, but rather on Nintendo's Japanese website, so it's rarer than the American one), Tingle's Balloon Fight, Mario 64 Rumble Pak Edition, The Hori Digital Controller for GameCube (the one that looks like an SNES controller), and the Capcom Power Stick Fighter (or Capcom Fighter Power Stick, the package and the actual controller have both those names. This is an arcade stick for SNES).

I'm also in the 645 boat whereas I'm trying to swear off collecting, but I still value what I have. There's three main assortments of games I probably consider the most valuable. My Working Designs stuff, my Shin Megami Tensei titles, and my rhythm gaming assortment.
I could say the Atlus games, but they're not that valuable, and a lot of them probably aren't that rare at all.
Working Designs:
And a collectible I value just as much as all that, since it was WD's last game:
Also, not WD, but I was obligated to own this:
And this game doesn't count as either valuable or worth owning, really:
Except for this:
I preordered it when it was originally called Lunar: Genesis.
SMT:
I wouldn't mind having more of the unreleased SMTs, but the only ones I really had to have were Soul Hackers and Innocent Sin.
And rhythm stuff:
Of particular note there are the Korean bundles for the Pump It Up PREX 3 PC, and the PS2 Exceed.
I seldomly use the pads, but I have no reason to part with them, so there they stay.
They're also much higher quality than the US version's.
If I had to guess, the rarest rhythm game I own is probably Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Mix. That became pretty sought after before long.
(And yes, Rez does count in my book. :P )
Still, after PAX, this became my pride and joy:
Signed by Harmonix staff, and all three members of Freezepop, including Kasson Crooker/Symbion Project himself.
I have the big trapezoid box version of FFVII PC, strategy guide too. I don't think they're rare, but talking about the big box version of FFVIII PC reminded me of it.

In that case I've got about half of those. Valkyrie Profile, Lunar: SSC, Lunar: Eternal Blue with all the collectibles, Vangaurd Bandits and the hard cover Strategy Guide for it, and if the other PS1 FFs and Xenogears count then I've got black box versions of FF8, FF9, and Xenogears.
I've also got a couple random ones like Rhapsody (which either got a reprint of they found a warehouse of them back in 2005), Hoshigami: Running Blue Earth and a couple other I can't remember off the top of my head. I had the chance to get Person 2 a couple years back for $10 but I wasn't familiar with the series at the time and grabbed a copy of Vagrant Story instead (without box or manual regrettably, although I did manage to snag a manual later). I do wish I had gotten it now that I've played the more recent Persona games.
FF8 and FF9 aren't rare and don't demand much even if they're black label. Rhapsody is a weird one since it did get a reprint and dropped pretty drastically in price compared to what it used to run for though prices seem high right now to create a false sense of value. Everything else is standard affair as far as rare PS1 games go.
But if I'm right that the universe has an appetite for novelty.
Then we are the apple of its eye. You are the cutting edge of a 13 billion year old process of defying novelty.
Your acts matter, your thoughts matter.
Yeah after check ebay prices FF8 and 9 go for under $20 and even Vagrant Story can be had for less than $30. Persona 2 though? $70 to $80 USED. I may have made a poor decision.

What CD art do you have on the original Lunar? I have the one with all the glass/crystal shards, I think it is #6 of seven.

I have the first two(my original copy, and a like new one I bought because the first is in fairly bad shape). I think the sixth is the absolute rarest.
And that reminds me, I also own Magical School Lunar.
In fact, it's the only Sega Saturn game I own that I had the presence of mind to keep all the original packaging and so forth. I actually liked the story of the game better than the manga or anime versions.
I also just recently got one of these:
It isn't a perfect device by any means, but I haven't stopping playing around with it since I got it, and have even started trolling eBay for games I missed out on the first time around.

Wow, so other discs do exist. :^: This is the first I've ever seen of a non-Umi disc.
All I have to do is confirm the existence of the Hikaru disc, and all is well.
(It's also the one I'm after, since she's my favorite character.)
I remember hearing that either it or Fuu is the rarest of the three, but I'm not sure about that.

I've held on to every PC game box from back in the day. I have alot of good ones sitting in my basement. Warcraft 2, Daggerfall, etc.
When I have more money then I know what to do with, I would like a robotron 2084 arcade machine. Either cabinet or cocktail. Probably cocktail.

Well, I figured somebody on here has one or both. I meant real life, since everybody knows people on the internet don't really exist.
i also found an atari 2600 in my grandparent's barn, and it had all this mildewy games like the terrible pac-man game on atari and the e.t. game

I have this one(Umi):
Has anyone ever seen the Hikaru or Fuu discs?
Closest I have is the 2 lunar's and MvC2 for ps2
OOOOooooo do you have the keyboard attachment for that?
(I remember reading about both in a REALLY old issue of NP)
Just think about it as an ancestor of the DS and it's current crop of utility software.
It may not be all that rare, I suppose (I'm not sure) but it's pretty awesome. The game is still in the original plastic (though the box isn't).
edit: I still have the printer and paper too. Not sure if that's rare.
