Problems connecting to a wireless network - Solved

No water all day in my apartment so I'm over at my uncle's trying to get some work done. Unfortunately I'm having trouble connecting to his wireless network.

He has a NetGear RangeMax Next Wireless router and his XP laptop connects to it fine. My Vista Dell cannot.

I've isolated it to a problem with the security settings. I know the WPA key for the network, but when I connect it will only let me connect with limited access (ie. no internet access)

If I remove the security settings on the router I can connect fine. When I re-enter them, I get the same problem again.

Help?

What I've had to do in the past is manually setup a wireless connection and EXPLICITLY set what kind of authentication scheme the router is using.

Give that a shot if you haven't already.

I had tried that, but it didn't help.

I ended up just disabling the security settings for a day so I could work. I just reenabled them and for some reason it's fine now. o_O
