So, I'm thinking about doing a "Let's Play" of FEAR 2 as my very first play on Hard with a mic on to record my reactions. Think that'd be interesting?

Only if you can muster a charming British accent while doing it. Helloween has somewhat spoiled me for Let's Plays...

Seriously, if you want, go for it. Don't try to ape Helloween's style and go through in your own fashion. That way if he does one and they're both funny in their own way, we get double funny out of it.

I was thinking of doing FEAR 2, but if someone else wants to give it a go instead thats cool. Means I can do something else maybe.

    But... But...

    :(

I got beaten to the draw :P I thought it was too early for it anyway.

More on topic, I hope the place I ordered it from sends it soon :(

I don't totally get the "too early" jazz. If the game is out and you can play it through, why is it too early to make an LP of it? I guess hype gets in the way, though.

You would have to put some Helloween tunes in it for some extra confusion.

If I can manage to make it to the end of Dead Space, I'll try FEAR 2. It looked considerably more creepy and balls-to-the-walls than the first.

I've got my copy here on my desk at work. I had a gift card for Bestbuy left over from the holidays, so I used it to snag a $30~ copy during lunch.

Probably won't play it until the weekend, though. I plan on doing a lights-out run Friday night. Maybe I've got time to barrel through the first one again as a refresher.

Or watch Helloween's LP of it.

    You could in the demo.

edit. Oh ho ho I see what you did there. (I totally didn't at first D:)

You must have been kicking yourself. Yes I think I've run that into the ground now.

From my standpoint "more of the same" isn't bad, but it feels wasted considering the decent fundament PO had. I do hope for some really varied and creative scares though - shooting in F.E.A.R. was tense and all but it got a little repetitive.

The consensus seems to be that it gives other people time to play through the game as well. While I understand some people watch LPs to see others play a game they wouldn't, the majority actually do play the game. That's at least half the fun of the thread. However, who am I to stop anyone from playing something for the Internet?

As for LP type, that's all subjective. Blind, skilled, whatever you like really comes down to your tastes.

Anyway, since most people don't have the game yet making an LP now is way too early. Give others a chance to play the game. :P

Id say a good week or so until people make a LP. That would satiate. Most people who want it would have it by then. And even if earlier, Ill still watch it. I want to see how it turns out.

6 months is a bit much right now considering everyone already wants to do one. And a lot of them are people who want to do it on their first playthrough, and I dont believe theyll wait that long to play it. So either a week, or a month. I can see that happening.

There's apparently already a playthrough of the game up on Youtube. SA's got a link on a playlist that seems to be legit, but I haven't actually watched any of the videos. The scares are the biggest draw for me on this type of game.

I also agree with the 6 month rule. Not everyone plays at the same pace, or has enough time to devote in order to keep up.

Oh I know what you mean, but i say again. All these people that want to do a LP want to do it on their first run through, so they wont want to wait 6 months. It would also be great to see one done like that because Id love to see their reactions going through.

Then they can and do do them here, on YouTube, or in one of those other LP communities no one cares about.

And I still maintain blind runs are awful and no one that does them is ever funny or says anything interesting because it's awful and it's an awful idea. If you're trying to show off a game, your first playthrough obviously isn't the best way to do it.

To follow on Pancake's heels, part of what makes a VLP run right is a good voice. Do you really want to hear someone socially awkward try to talk you through a game with high pitched shrieks and poor pronunciation? It'd be distracting at best.

Helloween is currently the only person on PA right now that I'd say would have a voice I wouldn't shut off the moment he screamed in terror.

EDIT: Simply put - the better prepared you are, the less likely you're going to sound like the example posted. Not everyone has a natural command of the mic and the wit to back it up.

I'd argue to an extent that blind LPs are a thing of the past. However, Maxwell Adam's LP of Ocarina of Time Master Quest is better suited being blind. The main reason being that it's a game that's really only remembered by its down right sadistic puzzles. Breezing through that kind of game or other similar games is no fun to watch.

Really though, this is completely off topic and not necessary at all.

Does anyone know what time this game unlocks on Steam? The sooner, the better.

I can't find this game anywhere. None of my local best buys have received it, and I can't even think of any other retailers that stock PC games on day one. Target, maybe? They didn't have it yet either. And none of my local Gamestops sell new PC games anymore.

Also, any idea how long this is? Reading that someone has already done an LP of it is kind of discouraging.
