And when I opened it, the manual was also crushed. It's like my copy was packaged and pressurized before being sent off.

I bought the game on PC and PS3, and both my slipcases were similarly afflicted. I know they're used as a security measure, but this is a little ridiculous.

    So I have one question.

Is this basically the first game with more stuff to shoot?

Because if the answer is yes, I am officially sold.

Yes...and theres stuff to shoot while in a big bad ass mech. Those heavies from the first game...well lets say payback is a bitch.

(Note: I have no idea if the heavies return in this one. I think there were a few in the mech portion of the demo but shit died in a rain of death so fast I never got a good look hehe)

It also looks and moves a bit better on top of all that. Also, the shotgun is still fully capable of exploding people, it just doesn't happen quite as often.

    Also, incendiary grenades!

Didn't the first game have corner peaking? It's been awhile.

Also, the graphics are way more improved than I originally thought. Lighting and environments are fantastic.

This game is great, though I found I had to spend 15+ minutes binding around the controls to find a configuration I liked. No leaning unfortunately, but the melee system from the first game at least makes a comeback.

Thus far the game is great and I'm enjoying it, but it really needs to be played in the dark. It's such a dark game I can watch my flatmate playing GTA IV on the 360 directly behind me and it's really bothering my eyes.

Good fun though, but what the hell is with the day-glo in slow motion>?

I assumed, from the demo, that this was supposed to be a representation of the main character's heightened awareness while in "bullet time." He knows where the enemies are due to his ability, so they show them to you in colors that will draw your attention to them. Either that, or he develops "heat vision" in bullet time.

    Nah, probably not heat vision.

Aye, it did have corner peeking. That was removed for the second game.

I don't really miss it. It always seemed a little awkward to me in the first game, just the way it looked. Like my whole character would just suddenly jerk to a diagonal axis. It didn't really fit with the other animations in the game.

I ordered a 9800 GTX and a PSU to supply enough power to it. When I get them in, I can show before and after pics.

Played it a lot, and really enjoy it.

Basically, it's got all your standard gametypes that you would expect, except some of the maps have the GIANT MECHS FOR YOU TO KILL PEOPLE WITH

The way you pick your weapons/equipment/armor is pretty cool and makes it fairly balanced. You basically have a set amount of weight to pick equipment, better weapons are heavier, more armor is heavier, health is more weight, grenades are weight, etc.

There's no slowmo or anything in MP, but it plays very well when you get into a server that doesn't have a shitty connection.

I was considering doing a live stream of MP so people could see what it looked like.

Yeah, there are these dudes, some of whom have flamethrowers. They carry these air tanks on their backs which have a habit of exploding when shot.

It's completely ridiculous, but also wonderful.

Sometimes they don't look too good after the tank explodes.

This game has some of the best corny dialogue

Lower tunnels of hospital after Intervel: Withdrawl
Snake Fist: Your Free Pizza at an anime convention. Alma can taste you...she can smell you...she covets you...shes a coveter

I both groaned and laughed at the cheesyness of that dialogue. Still...great times

if you're playing the PC version, does it have dedicated servers with a browser, or is it all matchmaking like every console to pc port lately?

    360 version, so not sure.

What's funny is, in a game I played, some people were crying about the game being a port from PC to the consoles because the controls were made for PC. I know that you can do custom search for servers on 360, so it's not like L4D where you just get put into shit randomly.

well then chances are you can do that on the PC version I guess. thank goodness. farcry 2 had a god awful random matchmaking thing for multiplayer which completely ruined whatever decent multiplayer it had.

It actually functions like a real fucking multiplayer game.

Alma 'died' when she was 26 years old - she gave birth to fettel at 16, then they shut down the life support 10 years later due to synchronicity, so the naked Alma walking around is physically 26. There was a pre-order booklet that I've only seen sniplets of that had stuff that wasn't revealed in the first game. Pointman doesn't even have a name, he wasn't given one so he had nothing to anchor a personality to. He's still a bad motherfucker though.

The tech is an upgraded version of the engine from the first game. It's fairly well-optimized at this point. If you can, try downloading the demo.
