Howdy all,
I've been corresponding with the creator of a site that builds Instant Runoff Voting (IRV) polls and I've created a poll that many of you might enjoy taking part in! You can find it at
http://www.thevotingsite.com/vote.aspx?=31
Recently Capcom remastered its NES masterpiece, Bionic Commando, creating Bionic Commando Rearmed (which was AWESOME). It held very very faithfully to the original, with great updated graphics and sound, and a few new levels.
I'd been puzzling for months on a poll to create on Jacob's website. Instant Runoff Voting is a concept mostly foreign to the USA, but it essentially opens up a political election to third party candidates. It allows people to vote for these candidates without "throwing their vote away" because they rank their choices for the office. They get a "single, transferable vote" that transfers down to the next candidate on their list as their top ones get knocked out. They need to vote for unfavorable candidates at all, and may also vote for just ONE candidate.
I wrote a few blog posts on the subject and Jacob at thevotingsite.com contacted me sometime later. He had an idea for a "favorite NES game poll" and I realized without stakes/consequences, even imaginary ones, an IRV poll isn't really important. So I "built in" a "what if" scenario: if you could have Capcom remake/remaster/"rearm" another classic game in their catalog, what would you prefer that they remake?
Please check out the site and excuse the current blandness. Its admin is working hard and the site is in beta, if not alpha. We both think (for different political reasons) that Instant Runoff Voting would make our country more free, and I think his website could help us to get a better handle on the concepts involved. Please check it out and give him any constructive feedback you might have. Thanks!
