Ladies and gentleman, we finally have a FF7 LP that made it through the entire first disc. Keep it up, Adus!

"Jenova's Witnesses," heh! This joke seems completely obvious, but for some reason it never occurred to me before.

    Haha,

Fuck you, owlbeast. It's smooth sailing from here. It'll probably get harder to stay funny but damn it, I'm going to finish just to prove that I can.

Isn't the end of disc 1 about halfway through?

And man, I got the "Aeris looking up at the highwind" picture at the end of disc 1. I was just all D:
Also, it made me think you'd get to revive her later, because you don't have the Highwind yet! Ugh.

Never going to finish? Pfft, he's already about 70% done with the game.

Seriously, the gameplay distribution in FF7 was really weird.

I'm just giving him a hard time. I've known Adus for years. He's cool. :3
Also, I forgot that FF7 was 3 discs instead of 4, so he's like 1/3ed done! Sort of.

I know some people are against a remake of FF7, but I wouldn't mind seeing a rerelease with a cleaned-up script. It did wonders for FFT. And, like FFT, they could pop that sucker on the PSP. Win/win! We get to see the game with a better script, and Sony sells a bunch of PSPs. "Experience the greatest game ever made all over again."

If they remake it - I'd expect them to use it to sell PS3's as well as PSP's - and of the two I think I'd rather see it pretty on a large screen.

Yeah you would. I wouldn't be able to come up with new stuff to say for a whole new playthrough.

Part 20: Geniophobia = Fear of Chins

Alright, so Sephiroth told us he was going to the frigid northern lands. What ominous dangers await us there?

    201je.jpg

DEAR JESUS HERNANDO CHRIST. The most foul, cruel, bad-tempered rodents we have ever set eyes on! What hath we done to deserve such torment!?

    202fi.jpg

Squall braves the icy village with his normal springwear. I guess he gets a couple manliness points back for that. Somehow I doubt they’ll last.

cloudhead.jpg ‘Hey, my sword is getting all frosty. Yum.

…Oh goth, sthomone halp. Myth tongue ith sthuck… c’mahn guyth …guyth?’

    203dq.jpg

Course, this chick one-ups him by being in her bikini. I think I might have an idea as to why they are leaving. Frostbite is a harsh mistress.

    204nl.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Hmm, these sure are odd titles for porn.’

    205no.jpg

Professor: ‘Okay, remember, in this scene, the brilliant professor has just saved the world from evil aliens, but not after the aliens anally probed all the jocks and surfers on the planet… The head cheerleader arrives to thank him… personally. Nyah haha. The guys at the Midgar Institute of Technology will worship me for this!’

"Then, Ifalna, please tell us about the Cetra."

(He steps away, his attention focused on her. She begins to speak.)

"2000 years ago, our ancestors, the Cetra, heard the cries of the
    Planet."
"The first ones to discover the Planet's wound were the Cetra at
    the Knowlespole."

"Tell us Ifalna... Where is the land called 'Knowlespole'?"

"Knowlespole refers to this area. The Cetra then began a
    Planet-reading."

"Ifalna, what exactly does Planet-reading entail?"

"...I can't explain it very well, but it's like having a
    conversation with the Planet..."
"It said something fell from the sky making a large wound."
"Thousands of Cetra pulled together, trying to heal the Planet..."
"But, due to the severity of the wound, it was only able to heal
    itself, over many years."

"Do the Ancients, rather, the Cetra, have special powers to heal
    the Planet?"

    (She shakes her head.)

"No, it's not that kind of power. The life force of all living
things on this Planet becomes the energy."
"The Cetra tried desperately to cultivate the land so as not to
    diminish the needed energy..."

"Hmm, even here so close to the North Cave, the snow never melts."
"Is that because the planet's energy is gathered here to heal its
    injury?"

    (She bows her head.)

"Yes, the energy that was needed to heal the Planet withered away
    the land... then the Planet..."
"The Planet tried to persuade the Cetra to leave the Knowlespole,
    but..."

    (The doctor shrugs.)

    "Ifalna... Let's take a break."

    (She shakes her head)

"I'm all right... When the Cetra... were preparing to part with
    the land they loved..."

    (She turns away)

    "That's when it appeared!"
"It looked like... our... our dead mothers... and our dead
brothers. Showing us spectres of their past."

"Who is the person that appeared at the North Cave? I haven't
    any idea."

"That's when the one who injured the Planet... or the 'crisis
from the sky', as we call him, came."

(She covers her face with her hands.)

"He first approached as a friend, deceived them, and
    finally...... gave them the virus."

    (She looks up again.)

"The Cetra were attacked by the virus and went mad...
    transforming into monsters."

(She sinks to the floor. The scientist runs over to her)

"Then, just as he had at the Knowlespole."
"He approached other Cetra clans...... infecting them with...
    the virus..."

"You don't look well... Let's call it a day."

(He walks over to the console and presses some buttons. The screen fades.)

So it turned out to be Ifalna speaking. Mary Sue’s mother, to be more specific. This conversation is a bit confusing, but I believe the gist of it seems to be that something crashed into the planet, harming it, and then spreading some sort of virus across all the Cetra. This is, obviously, Jenova, despite them referring to her as “he” but there could be many reasons for that. Also, the man is Professor Gast. He was the “great scientist” that Sephiroth mentioned in the flashback that Hojo had taken the place of. Obviously, also Mary Sue’s father.

The next video is titled “What is “Weapon”?”
(The screen fades in to show the scientist pressing buttons on the console
again. Ifalna is this time seated in the corner. He walks closer to her.)

"Ifalna, can you comment on the thing called 'Weapon'?"

    "Yes, Professor."

(She stands and walks over to him.)

"The one the Professor mistook for a Cetra... was named Jenova.
That is the 'crisis from the sky'."
"The Planet knew it had to destroy the 'crisis from the sky'..."
"You see, as long as Jenova exists, the Planet will never be able
    to fully heal itself."

"Back then, Weapon was a weapon the Planet produced of its own
    will?"

"Yes, but... There is no record of Weapon ever being used."
"A small number of the surviving Cetra defeated Jenova, and
    confined it."
"The Planet produced Weapon... But it was no longer necessary to
    use it."

    (He shrugs)

"So, Weapon no longer exists on the Planet?"

    (She shakes her head)

"Weapon cannot vanish. ...It remains asleep somewhere on the
    Planet."
"Even though Jenova is confined, it could come back to life at
    some time..."
"The Planet has not fully healed itself yet. It is still watching
    Jenova."

    "Where is Weapon?"

    (She looks away)

"I don't know...... I can't hear the voice of the Planet well..."
"Times... have changed. The Planet... is probably watching this
    situation closely."

(She rubs her eyes. The professor turns away, shaking his head. He looks
    almost disgusted. She turns back.)

"...Thank you, Ifalna, that will be all for today."

(He walks to the console and turns the camera off, leaving Ifalna standing
there, her face covered in her hands.)

This video describes a weapon created by the planet, appropriately titled… Weapon. It serves as some sort of defense mechanism if something were to threaten the very life of the Planet. I guess it’s like the smog monster from Lost. Likely it would have been deployed had the Cetra not “defeated” Jenova. Really, they just confined her, but I guess Weapon is satisfied with that.

The next video is called Confidential: Daughter's Record: 10th Day after birth

    206ka.jpg
    207y.jpg

    Lens cap, genius!
"What are you going to tape? Is there still something I haven't
    mentioned?"

"No, that's not it. I'm going to record my beautiful daughter."
"And when she's sleeping, her face ...looks like an angel."

"First, we have to figure out her name. We can take the video
    later!"

"I've already decided! If it's a girl, then it'll be Mary Sue.
    That's that!"

"You are SO selfish! But Mary Sue is a good name!"
"Hee hee... it's a good name, considering it came out of that
    forgetful head of yours!"

    "Right!? Oh, the video tape......"

cloudhead.jpg ‘Oh god, that’s Mary’s mother. Mood killed.’

Wait, hold on a second. “If it’s a girl?” The recording is titled 10 days after birth, and they still don’t know the baby’s gender or name? :...:

The last video is Daughter's Record: 20th Day after birth

cloudhead.jpg ‘Listening to this is making me feel so dirty…’

    2023i.jpg

    cloudhead.jpg ‘…… That’s it. I’m turning this off.’

With that video, we learn that Gast dies resisting Shinra. Ifalna and Mary Sue are captured by Hojo, and held captive for a number of years. Ifalna eventually escapes with Mary but is wounded in the process. This is how she ends up in Sector 7 and entrusts Mary to Elmyra.

This may have been the best thing for Mary, though, since her parents were obviously idiots. Imagine what her fate would have been otherwise?

“Honey, dinner will be ready soon!”

“Smells great! Hey… why is there a turkey wearing a bonnet in the crib?”

    2029y.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Because if you’re shaved, maybe we can talk. At least then I can pretend you’re prepubescent. I’d also require you to wear a schoolgirl outfit.’

    2030a.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Yeah, you’ve been so good at keeping secrets in the past, right? Because of you half of the planet knows Reno has Geniophobia. I set him up a surprise visit from Jay Leno for his birthday. It’s going to be epic.’

    2031m.jpg
    2032o.jpg

Your boss? Oh, you mean your boss?

True or not, I plan to blame Sephiroth for everything from now on. Toilet left unflushed? Sephiroth did it. Password locking Reno’s screensaver set to gay porn? Sephiroth. Replacing Elena’s birth control pills with Tic-Tacs? Sephiroth.

    2033w.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘What, haven’t you noticed your extra-fresh breath lately? Better than the essence of cock it had to it, before.’

    2034s.jpg

    cloudhead.jpg ‘Pain? I already feel pain. It’s called having a forbidden love…’

    2035q.jpg

    Yeah, this can’t fail.

    2036w.jpg

    Whoosh.

    2037j.jpg

    Tumble tumble tumble.

    2038m.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Usually I have to pay for this sort of entertainment.’

    2039.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘No, that’s pretty much on par.’

    2040f.jpg

Hell yes. Now here’s a choice box that we should see more often. Prepare to suck it, wussy guard.

    2041.jpg

cloudhead.jpg 'AGH, FUCK. So? I’ll kick their ass too!'

Nevermind, screw them. After swiping some kid’s snowboard, it’s time to twist a cool tube jam and blast a bippy or whatever the kids say.

    2042j.jpg

Awww yeahhh. Though in order to make me seem cool, I can never show screenshots of me failing the snowboarding section.

Therefore there will be no more screenshots of the snowboarding section.

After this we get to the Great Glacier. One big maze of bullshit. Despite the tips and walkthroughs, I still managed to get lost for like an hour trying to get both Alexander and Added Cut. I got a few more levels at least.

    2043h.jpg

cloudhead.jpg 'Lay it on me, Coco-puff.'

    2044.jpg
    2045i.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘For good reason. Our population is a bunch of fucktards. Look at us. We’re at the fucking North Pole and we don’t even have earmuffs.’

    2046v.jpg

The solution to prevent hypothermia is to just RUN REAL FAST IN PLACE! Insulated clothing be damned! 38 degrees in Celsius is actually 100 Fahrenheit, so he’s actually… warmer than normal, despite having no sleeves on a mountain of ice…

After an arduous journey through the ice caves, we come upon…

    2047a.jpg

Schizo! This boss is a son of a bitch… if you’re not prepared. One head casts fire attacks and absorbs such, while the other is ice. As you can see, he actually did a good job of healing me as Squall had both ice and fire absorption himself. Jailbait and Banana also both had nullifications of their own, so he was barely able to damage me.

The thing about him is both heads need to be killed, and when each one dies, they do an attack that hits your whole party for fairly massive damage. It actually took down Banana at one point, I think. Since then I’ve given him an HP plus materia so the health pools are a bit more balanced.

    2048v.jpg

    Atop the mountain…

    2049.jpg

We find the Northern Crater where Jenova landed long ago. The planet is still in the process of healing the wound. If something isn’t done there will soon be a much bigger one to worry about.

Next time on Final Fantasy VII: A reunion where someone forgot to bring the cake. :(

Time for the second part of "Was Aerith originally going to die later?", and we have this screenshot that someone took after using a PC version trainer:

    aerithgreatglacier.jpg

Aerith has unique dialogue upon landing after the snowboarding section. She still says the generic "HAY LOOK AT THE MAP LOL" line afterwards, but her first line is unique to her.

Oh, and I'd say because of Wall Market, Squall's still a -3 on the manliness scal- oh wait, that's another guy...

Adding "Elena's punch" to the ShinRa Retard List... and let's be honest, Aerith was probably born a hermaphrodite.

I'll throw my support behind this LP as well.

There had to be something else in the Gelnika... Some summon materia or e-skill or something. I remember going in there and looking through the whole place. I got a bunch of skill-ups, but I never saw the game implicitly tell you what each of the stats meant so I never bothered to use them. Isn't Hades in there?

If they remake it - I'd expect them to use it to sell PS3's as well as PSP's - and of the two I think I'd rather see it pretty on a large screen.

    1. Get submarine
    2. Find sunken Gelnika (directly east of Gold Saucer)
    3. Use Morph (optional extras - Conformer for Yuffie, Mega All materia from Northern Crater, Sneak Attack from wherever the hell that comes from - Gold Saucer I think)
    4. All enemies morph into one of the Source items - +1 to a stat
    5. ????
    6. PROFIT

    So, buff stats never endingly?

Only up to 255... which is annoying, since apparently Ruby Weapon has 480 Defense...

I think that has to do with the size of the save file since they only have room for two hex characters per stat for the pcs meanwhile theres enough room on the disc that there aren't such limitations for the enemies stat blocks

Only thing I recall getting from that was underwater breathing materia for fighting emerald.

Then I found you could mime Knights of the round and it all became a bit irrelevant. Sigh.

That's strange, considering you can only get the Underwater materia from the guy in Kalm, after morphing one of those ship enemies outside the underwater reactor in Junon (or occasionally as Battle #8 in Battle Square)...

...I've played this game too much. :)

Mime is horrendously broken though, since you don't have to pay the MP cost... even if you try to mime a failed spell (e.g. Sneak Attack-KOTR fails because you don't have the MP, but Mime will still result in KOTR being used; a good way of getting away with having low MP characters. Of course, then you take it much further and link as many Mimes with Counters as you can, resulting in Emerald dying the second he decides to attack...). The only things that are even more broken are Barret's Missing Score and Vincent's Death Penalty, since they can kill Emerald in one hit with some extra help.

Part 21: Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence

So let’s descend into the maw of madness that is the Northern Crater.

    211dw.jpg

    Say no.

    212hd.jpg

    Son of a bitch.

    213a.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘No! You don’t understand… Banana has all the magic and… and… agh fuck, Lockheart, I am going to punch you in the tits.’

Meanwhile, look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!

    214m.jpg

It’s Shinretards! Able to make tall leaps in logic in a single bound. Oh splendid. Hey, at least they finally have a functioning mode of transportation.

    215k.jpg

And you’d be the creepy uncle no one wants to show who inevitably does and tries to mutate everyone into horrible abominations. I hate relatives like that.

    216ct.jpg

Back on the surface, after wading through a sea of black cloaked men working on their suicidal conga line which I lost the screenshot of, we finally approach Sephiroth.

    217jc.jpg

Unfortunately, he just fades away into nothingness. Squall’s alternate personality wants to come out. Damn you, Picklemier.

    218al.jpg

    Suddenly! Sephiroth strikes!

    219be.jpg

And leaves us with this. Jenova Death. This is the only screenshot I got for some reason. She has fire based attacks of which I still had a lot of protection from since fighting Scizo. Not only that, but she’s much weaker than he was anyway.

    2110i.jpg
    2111u.jpg

Indeed. It seems as if the Sephiroth we’ve been chasing wasn’t even really him, but a sort of illusion created by Jenova cells. Apparently the real Sephiroth is just ahead. I don’t know what’s going on anymore, and if I’m lost, Loaf has probably regressed to playing Donkey Kong in his head while a faint amount of drool descends his chin.

    2112z.jpg

Hooray, the world is temporarily safe! Squall decides someone trustworthy should hold onto it, considering what happened last time. This is actually a pretty intelligent decision on his part.

Personally, I think Dr. Acula would be the best choice. He has experience with trust considering patient confidentiality and all. Unfortunately, you can only choose between FIRE DOG and Loaf. This probably has to do with Dr. Acula and Jailbait being optional characters and Not A Spy being a total douchebagel.

    2113g.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘I find inherent flaws in asking someone with no hands to hold something, so FIRE DOG is out. Take care of this, Loaf. And for god’s sake, don’t eat it. It’s not a potato.’

    2114y.jpg

We don’t get very far before a light consumes us, however.

    2115k.jpg

Christ in a cupcake, not this shithole again.

    2116z.jpg

Alright, I suppose the illusion of shit is better than the real thing. Actually it really isn't.

    2117u.jpg

What the toast? Has Shadow the Hedgehog come to ruin yet another franchise?

    2118.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Haha, look at that hair! What a loser. Am I right?... Guys…?’

    2119s.jpg
    2120i.jpg

Shut up, Squall. You sound like a child. “Sephiroth’s illusions are stupid… and he is a… stupid poo-head!”

    2121f.jpg

Squall’s maturity fluctuates more than the mood of a pregnant woman who doesn’t get her daily fix for her pancake batter craving. “See guys!? See, I was right!! Look, right there! This means I was right and you’re all stupid!”

    2122g.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘No, you must look to see how right I was!’

    2123h.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘You want me to apologize. I think that’s fair. How turbulently I regret spilling antifreeze on your scrotum and…

    …Wait a tick… that uh… wow, You didn't hear that. That didn't happen.’

    2124f.jpg

cloudhead.jpg 'I mean that. Yeah. That was almost awkward…’

    2125n.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Indeed I do understand we’ve had trouble in the past due to you being a dick and all. I’d like to reconcile that by letting you vent all your dick behavior on one focal point. This is Banana. He’ll be happy to take all your beatings.’

Super hyper mega dialogue time. Important story information enclosed, if you’re trying to keep up.

    Squall
"What you are trying to say is that you want to confuse me,
    right?"
"But... even making me see those things won't affect me."
"I remember it all. The heat of the fire... the pain in my
    body... and in my heart!"

    (Sephiroth shakes his head grimly.)

    Sephiroth
    "Oh, is that so?"
"You are just a puppet... you have no heart... and cannot feel
    any pain..."
"How can there be any meaning in the memory of such a being?"
"What I have shown you is reality. What you remember, that is
    the illusion."

(Squall shrugs. He walks right up to Sephiroth.)

    Sephiroth
    "...Do you understand?"

    Squall
    "I don't want to understand."

    (He turns away from him.)

    Squall
"But, I want to ask you one thing. Why... why are you doing
    this?"

(A blink of white. Sephiroth appears in front of Squall, between Lockheart and
Banana, his arms raised. They run to stand beside Squall.)

    Sephiroth
    "Ha, ha, ha......"
"I want to take you back to your real self."
"The one who gave me the Black Materia that day..."
"Who would have ever thought a failed experiment would prove so
    useful?"
"Hojo would die if he knew."

    (Squall steps forward)

    Squall
"Hojo!? What does he have to do with me!?"

    (Sephiroth lowers his arms.)

    Sephiroth
    "Five years ago you were..."
"...constructed by Hojo, piece by piece, right after Nibelheim
    was burnt."
"A puppet made up of vibrant Jenova cells, her knowledge, and the
    power of Mako."
"An incomplete Sephiroth-clone. Not even given a number. ...That
    is your reality."

    (Squall shrugs.)

    Lockheart
    "Squall... Don't listen to him..."
"Close your ears! Close your eyes!"

    Squall
"What's wrong, Lockheart? I'm not affected by it."
"...I wasn't paying attention to him."

    Lockheart
"All that talk of Hojo constructing you is a lie."
"Don't we have our memories together?"
    "Being kids together, starlit nights..."

(Sephiroth cocks his head toward her.)

    Sephiroth
    "Ha, ha, ha... Lockheart..."
"Why are you so worried and scared by those words?"
"Hmm... Shall I show everyone here what's in your heart?"

(She quickly turns away, without a word.)

    Sephiroth
"Ha, ha, ha... You look like you're not feeling well."

(He disappears. Squall turns to Lockheart)

    Squall
    "...Lockheart? Is Sephiroth right?"

(She doesn't speak for a long time.)

    Lockheart
    "Squall..."

    Squall
"Why are you so scared? Don't worry about me. I'm all right."
"No matter how confused I am, I'll never believe a word that
    Sephiroth says."

    (He looks at the ground.)

    Squall
"It's true that sometimes I can't figure out who I am."
"There's a lot of things muddled up in my memories."
    "But, Lockheart......."
"But you said, 'Long time no see, Squall' right?"
"Those words will always support me."
"I am the one you grew up with. I'm Squall of Nibelheim."
"No matter how much I lose faith in myself, that is the truth."

    (He looks up at Lockheart.)

    Squall
"That's why you shouldn't be so scared."
"No matter what anyone else says to me, it's your attitude that
    counts..."

(He turns away. Lockheart turns back towards him. She shakes her head.)

    Lockheart
    "No, that's not true, Squall......"

(He shakes his head sadly and turns to face Lockheart.)

    Squall
"What's not? Aren't I the same Squall you grew up with?"

    Lockheart
"That's not what I meant... I don't know how to say it..."
"Squall, I need some time... Just give me a little time..."

(The screen flashes white and Sephiroth is standing on the stairs down to
the courtyards. All but Lockheart turn to face him.)

    Sephiroth
    "Squall... Don't blame Lockheart."
"The ability to change one's looks, voice, and words, is the
    power of Jenova."
"Inside of you, Jenova has merged with Lockheart's memories, creating
    you."
    "Out of Lockheart's memory..."
"A boy named Squall might've just been a part of them."

(In a blink of white, he vanishes.)

    Lockheart
    "Squall..."
    "Please... don't think right now."

(White flash. Sephiroth is behind them.)

    Sephiroth
    "Ha, ha, ha...... Think, Squall!"
"...Squall? Ha, ha, ha...... Oh, excuse me. You never had a name."

    (Squall shakes his head.)

    Squall
    "Shut up... Sephiroth."

    (Sephiroth shakes his head.)

    Sephiroth
    "You still don't understand? Then..."

(He faces away and starts to laugh. It is the exact laugh as he might
have made upon his first arrival to Nibelheim. He stops with a dismissive
gesture and turns to face Squall.)

    Sephiroth
"Do you remember the picture that we took before we headed for
    Mt. Nibel?"

    (He turns to Lockheart)

    Sephiroth
    "...Lockheart, you remember, right?"

(He turns back to Squall and raises his arms in an almost-happy gesture.)

    Sephiroth
"But there is no way he would know."

(He shakes his head. Squall shrugs)

    Sephiroth
"Now... what happened to that picture?"

(He pretends to look all around, then practically skips over to the dead
man lying in front of the inn. The photographer.)

    Sephiroth
    ".......is this it?"

    (He turns back to Squall.)

    Sephiroth
"...Do you want to see it? It turned out pretty good."

    Lockheart
    "Squall... don't..."

    (He nods to Lockheart.)

    Squall
"I... should be in the picture."
"Even if I'm not in there, no worry. This is just an illusory
    world Sephiroth made up."

    2126p.jpg

Sephiroth shows off his mad photoshop skills.

    Squall
    "...Just as I thought."

    (He nods.)

    Squall
"This picture's a fake. The truth is in my memory."
"...Five years ago, I came back to Nibelheim, to inspect the
    reactor. I was sixteen."
"The town hadn't changed at all. What did I do...? Oh yeah..."

    (He nods)

    Squall
"Yeah, I went to Lockheart's room. There, I..."

(What did you do at Nibelheim...?)

    Squall
    "I played the piano!"
    "I looked in the drawers!"
"I spent the night and went to the reactor in Mt. Nibel. I was
    excited about it."
"Because that was my first mission after becoming First Class in
    SOLDIER."

(A flash. Sephiroth is gone. Squall shakes his head)

    Squall
    "...SOLDIER, First Class?"

    (He shakes it harder.)

    Squall
"...SOLDIER? When did I enter SOLDIER?"

    (He clutches his head, trembling.)

    Squall
    "How did I join SOLDIER?"

(He falls to the ground, shaking harder.)

    Squall
    "Why... why can't I remember?"

    (He rises to one knee.)

    Squall
    "I'm... I'm..."

    (He stands.)

    Squall
    "That's right..."

    (He nods)

    Squall
"...I didn't have to worry about it, because I was..."

(The screen fades to black. Silence.)

    Lockheart
    "......Squall?"

    Squall
    "Let's go, Lockheart. I'm... I'm all right."

Still with me? Seems like Squall has some memory issues, and Lockheart isn’t exactly backing him up. The explanation so far? Squall is a Sephiroth clone that was actually created after the Nibelheim incident. Yes, that’s right. A clone. To twist the knife deeper, he’s a failed clone that wasn’t even given a number. By that logic, Idiot Bowling Savant was considered a more successful replication. Ouch. That’s apparently why he’d act so strangely around Sephiroth. The black haired man is supposedly the true SOLDIER who went to Nibelheim that day. Who the hell is he? Oh, they forgot to ask.

As it is, it sounds as if Lockheart may have one day really known someone named Squall once upon a time, but upon meeting the clone, it sort of created a personality for itself by reading her memories. At least I think that was what Sephiroth was trying to say. Lockheart seems rather afraid that even her own memories are warped. Despite all this, the group seems to try and continue on…

Not sure how you can just move on and not fucking talk about something like that, but Squall seems very convinced Sephiroth is just being a dick. I guess you can’t put it past him.

Meanwhile, Rufus and his Late Night crew approach what seems to be the center of the disturbance.

    2127p.jpg

Was materia always capitalized? This game can’t make up its mind.

    2128p.jpg
    2129z.jpg

Oh snap. I’d be careful with Hojo. He’ll rape you with flaming dogs, steal your babies and then flood your house with lava. I’m just guessing on that last thing but I think he’d do it.

    2130v.jpg
    2131d.jpg

This may be the only time in the game that Weapon is recognized as multiple entities, and even now it’s still just “Weapon” and not “Weapons.” Throughout the rest of the game, the dialogue acts as if there’s only one monster called Weapon, which I always found really odd.

    2132w.jpg

Back at team pointless (which had no logical reason to be left behind) Loaf is getting worried. Suddenly…

    2133d.jpg

Wake up, Loaf. The Matrix has you.

    2134.jpg

Yeah, this isn’t odd at all. Besides leaving your daughter to tend to a bar on her own (which just makes her awesome, so is this really a bad thing?), you’re one of the few with common sense, Loaf. Don’t lose sight of that now.

    2135.jpg

    No. Don’t. Stop.

    2136n.jpg

Goddamnit, No! Bad Loaf! Stay! Stay or no Snausage!

    2137ud.jpg
    2138n.jpg

What was up with that retarded Disney villain move? I feel they’ve done a fairly good job of making Sephiroth seem pretty menacing, and they nearly ruin it with that little scene.

    2139y.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘A science lab. Where did you come from? A vagina? Hah. How pathetically old-fashioned.’

    2140.jpg

    Oh god, I think he’s back…

    2141o.jpg

No, Loaf. No. No. Don’t trust the soothing, hypnotic voice of Fredrick Picklemier… which I imagine sounding something like a cross between Jerry Lewis and Pee Wee Herman.

    2142.jpg

Yes! Glorious hesitation! You’re the savior of us all, Loaf!

    2143t.jpg

    MOTHER FUCKING SHIT.

    2144.jpg

Well that doesn’t sound too sanitary…

    2145.jpg

What are you doing? Why are you apologizing? If you’re still Squall, all you have to do is simply NOT GIVE HIM THE FUCKING BLACK MATERIA. You can do it. You’re strong. You’re tough. You’re…

    Yeah, who am I kidding…

Ah god. This is just swell. You’ve doomed us all, Loaf. Good fucking going.

    2146y.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Perhaps he won’t be a misogynistic, junkie douchebag with a taste for teen twat…

But honestly, what fun would that be?’

    2147p.jpg
    2148.jpg

    cloudhead.jpg ‘I believe it’s on my ass...’

    2149q.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Alright, maybe it isn’t. Sorry I had you check for nothing. Not really, though.’

    2150.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Tattoo it on my wang… and instead of a number make it say Jailbait… and put a heart around it. Her birthday is coming up; I want it to be a surprise.’

    2151i.jpg

cloudhead.jpg ‘Hey, man hey… Clones have feelings too, you know… Didn’t you see The Island?’

    2152l.jpg

And now Squall can arbitrarily fly. This might have been useful in the past, you know.

    2153q.jpg
    2154l.jpg

Not sure what the fuck this means, but okay.

    2155s.jpg
    2156c.jpg
    2157c.jpg

Yet like, everyone still got everywhere before you did. Sephiroth was right, you are a failed clone. Even the cloaked dudes with half a brain cell who were more likely to stick their sandwich in their eye before their mouth were here first.

    2158l.jpg

Maybe I was wrong. The Black Materia is a fucking potato seeing how we’ve been playing hot potato with it ever since we got it.

Shall we go over the progression? Not A Spy - Squall - Sephiroth - Squall - Loaf - Squall and soon Sephiroth again.

    2159v.jpg
    2160l.jpg

Where Sephiroth has truly been all this time. A floating torso trapped inside a big block of Jell-o.

    2161z.jpg

Go with Shinra… Stay in the crater of death… Go with Shinra… Stay in the crater of death…

I gotta say, you guys, this is not an easy decision.

    2162r.jpg

Hot potato, hot! It’s the end of the world as we know it, and it’s all Loaf’s fault.

And Squall for being a weak minded fool, but mainly Loaf.

    2163s.jpg

Okay, when eyes appear in the walls it becomes running time.

Here’s a Youtube of the FMV where you can see 1997’s state of the art boob jiggle physics. Also Mechagodzilla.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNtBMqCUYSc&fmt=18

In case it doesn’t load for some reason or you don’t wish to watch it:
A light extends out of the crater, and the Airship from Junon begins to fly off with our heroes on board minus Squall. Five Weapon monsters begin to ascend, one going into warp drive right next to the airship, the force shaking it and knocking Lockheart over and unconscious.

Let me know if you have any preference to video links or just screenshots of the cutscenes. I just did it this time to cut down on the screenshots.

Next time on Final Fantasy VII: Special guest director, Michael Bay.

I think that's how i beat emerald... lots of counter-mime omnislashes... without underwater materia so it was quicker than whatever the time limit was.

What's the method with barret and vincent though?

Load Missing Score up with the highest amount of AP you can, add Berserk status and a few Hero Drinks, and Barret's attack power will become so high, it'll cause an overflow on the damage calculation that causes the enemy's current HP to be made higher than its max HP. The game engine sees this, goes "Uh oh, better fix that", and does so... by immediately killing the enemy. Same thing goes for Vincent's Death Penalty once he's made a certain number of kills; can't remember the exact figure, but it's something like 30,000.

Final part of "Was Aerith meant to die later?", and... well... I actually managed to find a vid of it that means I don't have to make one. Skip to about 1:17.
    Wait, that music? Is that...?

Going through the debug room, you can find this unused area, which inexplicably has Aerith's Theme playing. There's no paths set, so you are unfortunately stuck in the scenery, and you can't exactly see all of this area... however, someone used an editor to open up the map:

    greatcave.jpg

Now, note the similarity between this, and the area in Adus' update:
    Adus wrote: »

...Of course, I say 'similarity', but I mean 'same location from a different angle'. So, we've got Aerith's Theme playing in the same place where Sephiroth's real body is... the originally planned location for her death, maybe? Only the developers know for sure... If it was though, I can only guess they brought it forward because you would be losing two major characters at the same time, which would ruin the pacing of the story somewhat.

An addendum to "Was Aerith meant to die later".
Through external programs to view full maps this image of the entire room was found
    sa_jinx2.jpg
Now compare the top portion of this image with this one from the LP
    21-59675.jpg
It has no walk paths because its used for the opening of the fmv
Still doesn't explain why the debug room version play's aerith's theme though

Load Missing Score up with the highest amount of AP you can, add Berserk status and a few Hero Drinks, and Barret's attack power will become so high, it'll cause an overflow on the damage calculation that causes the enemy's current HP to be made higher than its max HP. The game engine sees this, goes "Uh oh, better fix that", and does so... by immediately killing the enemy. Same thing goes for Vincent's Death Penalty once he's made a certain number of kills; can't remember the exact figure, but it's something like 30,000.

    16kish.

If you do it right you overload the damage buffer, causing negative damage. The only time the game deals with Negative damage is when a monster has taken more damage then its current HP, so it thinks you've won.

Does not work in the English version, by the way.

...Okay, now I have another retarded thing to try and prove either right or wrong. :D

(And now that I've found that my PS1 still works as well as the day I got it, I can take a shortcut... if I can remember the hex value for KOTR when editing Cloud's materia...)

This may be the only time in the game that Weapon is recognized as multiple entities, and even now it’s still just “Weapon” and not “Weapons.” Throughout the rest of the game, the dialogue acts as if there’s only one monster called Weapon, which I always found really odd.

In the original Japanese release of the game, the optional WEAPONs (Ruby and Emerald) hadn't been added, which could explain residual dialogue describing only one.

I was thinking of that too, but regardless, there were still Diamond, Ultima, and the Weapon that gets its head blown off at Junon. So there were always multiple Weapons.
