FALLOUT 3

2yoeuk5.gif

This is a game you should play, WANNA KNOW WHY?!?

because

mods you want (unless you play on the 360 then NOT FOR YOU)
RobCo Certified - A three-tiered perk allowing the player to repair broken robots for use as henchmen. Each tier allows different types of robots to be repaired.

FourEyes Perk - A perk that awards +2 INT and +10 SCIENCE at the cost of -1 STR and CHA, as well as -4 PER and Myopic Blur effect while not wearing prescription lenses. Excellent in conjunction with RobCo Certified...

SagerFallout3 - A balancing mod that opens up the ability to slow down leveling, decrease player HP, increase damage done by weapons, etc. (Different options can be enabled or disabled in the Data Files portion of the Fallout launcher. I've found the option to slow down leveling useful, it was annoying to hit 20 before even finishing the GNR quest.)

Badass Super Mutants - Another balancing mod that increases the HP of super mutants as well as giving them more powerful weapons. (NB: don't use SagerFallout3 and Badass Super Mutants at the same time unless you want to do an insanely difficult run of the game.)

Cross-Repair Weapons - Allows repair of various weapons to use items other than just copies of the weapon itself, e.g. allows repair of the Chinese Assault Rifle using the Assault Rifle, the 10mm SMG using the 10mm pistol, etc.

Killable Children - Fuck you, Bryan Wilks.

Fellout Weather Overhaul - Makes the sunrises and sunsets much more beautiful (as you would expect given such a dirty atmosphere) and makes the nights really dark. Try fighting some Badass Super Mutants at night with this mod if you're looking for a challenge.

Alternate Start - Switch up starting stats, scenarios, and factions.

other things you ABSOLUTELY NEED

HAVE A QUESTION?!?!
check the Fallout Wiki

WANT TO LOOK FOR MODS?!?
check the Fallout 3 Nexus

might want to add www.fallout.wikia.com to the op, if you need any help that for some reason people on the forum can't provide it's never steered me wrong.

of course a proper spoiler warning if you go trudging through the pages of this site, it essentially contains a walkthrough for the game.

edit: yeah thorgot has the wiki action in his post.

hey so are there any particular skills I should concentrate on or perks to make sure I pick up

despite what people say (Bogey) you can probably safely pick anything you want. some are just more situational than others but they're all explained pretty well.

i would say repair, myself. and maybe some speech.
If you re-read my response to Sara in the last thread, I say that while some perks are much more useful throughout the game, some are much more fun, and yet others are fairly useless, you should still be able to do pretty much everything once you've reached the higher levels. So really, you should choose your perks depending on how you want to play. :P

Despite my earlier naysaying about third-person, I did use the console to equip myself with his stuff for hot VATS action.

i really want to play through the game once where i force limits upon myself, like no skillbooks/bobbleheads, no perks that increase SPECIAL stats, and not upgrading either science or lockpick

Once I get stationed and I have a few months pay in my pocket I plan on picking up a new laptop and Fallout, again

because while I'm very entertained by the 360 version, I would like to see some of these mods

you don't need a top-of-the-line PC to play Fallout triple

its not that intensive on your computer :V
I am surprised, but they managed to optimize it well.

    For a not well-optimized game, try GTA4. It's the devil's asshole.

it is completely unplayable past the opening vault on my PC

like I walk out and it freezes

or I get down near megaton and the screen goes wonky and/or my pipboy flakes out so I can't read it or in VATS everything completely shuts down

it's likely the pregnancies of older kids, they don't get kicked out until 16. With no safe-sex programs, it's likely they have enough to keep going.
edit: Child pregnancy, what a terrific way to kick off this page!

They did a much better job with quest design than oblivion thats for sure.

I just can't get into the gameplay-I hated Oblivion but at least there was a magic system as opposed to the tedium of constantly shooting zombies in the head in slow motion.

Dunno if I am gonna finish it : /

must be pretty close to the end but I hear the end is not so good

You don't have to shoot them in the head. You can chainsaw them do death, hit them with hammers, or your fists. Or a giant fire sword.

If you're bored with how you're killing things, be more creative.

Choosing to either nail someone with a hammer or a chainsaw is not my idea of creativity.

Plus my guy sucks at melee.

    Don't use VATS.

Have you tried explosives, like grenades and mines?

What about the exotic weapons you can cobble together? Those are fun.
