Anyone have HD Service through DirecTV?

We had it installed yesterday, while the wife was at home. My wife doesn't know any better and the guy said he didn't have an HDMI cable to hook up the HD Receiver to our TV, and he took the one hooked up for the 360.

I tried calling in last night but the wait time was astronomical. I'm going to try again when I get home, but my question is this: is the HDMI cable included with installation or not?Seems like a significant component for it to operate, and it doesn't make sense that it wouldn't come with, but I've seen some strange business practices before.

The only cables I've seen be included are coax.
    Maybe composite...

Either way, www.monoprice..com for a cheap (quality) HDMI cable.

We had directv installed about a month ago and the installation did come with an HDMI cable. We actually asked the guy if this was typical and he said they used to charge people for the cables but then they stopped since it's pretty standard now. It kind of sounds like you got screwed...the guy says he "didn't have one" like he just ran out or something and doesn't feel like going back and getting one.

The receiver boxes (At least, the HD-DVR receiver) come with Composite, component and HDMI cables.

I don't believe it - I'm on my THIRD PS3, and my FIRST XBOX360. What the heck?

They hooked my parent's DirecTV HD box with composite cables. They used to bitch and whine that the picture wasn't very good, and now we know why... They had it set to 480i.

One of the problems with DirecTV is that they contract out all their service work. So that's why you'll get inconsistent results. One of a couple things might have happened. Either the HDMI cable comes in the box, which means that the company wants to keep them for resale or to charge other customers, or the cable doesn't come in the box and it's up to the contractor to provide it and they don't want to front the money. Or he ran out and was telling the truth, at which point he should have come back and brought you one.

I talked to the sales guy who signed me up originally. He says we definitely should have received an HDMI cable, and is getting after it himself.
