I'm making this thread because the EBA thread is either on page 10 or so or has been pruned. Somebody necroposted in the Ouendan Game On Thread while I was making this, but I figure it'd be better to have all the info in one clean post for the sake of everyone.
NEWS! 1/23/07 (or so)
Keiichi Yano of iNiS will be giving a lecture about the making of Ouendan and EBA at this year's Game Developer's Conference. More info here:
http://www.gdconf.com/news/new_session_from_ouendan_to_he.htmWhat is it?
Elite Beat Agents is a rhythm game developed by iNiS (Gitaroo Man) for the Nintendo DS. It is a "spiritual successor" to the Japanese-only game
Ossu! Tatake! Ouendan!, which sold very poorly in Japan but has been a popular import in the U.S. and Europe. The gameplay is identical to the earlier game and the graphical style similar, but the music, scenarios, and actual art are all new.
What's it sound like?
The following songs are known to be in EBA. Please note that most, if not all of the songs will be covers.

3. Sk8er Boi - Avril Lavigne
4. I Was Born to Love You - Queen
5. Rock This Town - Stray Cats
6. Highway Star - Deep Purple

Here's some screenshots:
You can also view full gameplay videos of the Babysitter (Walkie Talkie Man and Homeward Bound (Highway Star) levels on Easy, as well as partial videos of four other levels, here.
And if for some reason you'd like to see the commercial, it's here.Where can I try it out?
Since it's a "Touch Generations" game, Nintendo may well put it on demo kiosks, but they have not yet to my knowledge. However, if you already have a DS, you can access a DS Download Station in any store that has one and play a demo which includes a tutorial and the first half of the Babysitter level on Easy.
I think that's about it.
And uhm, in case you for some reason have difficulty guessing it, the official website is at elitebeatagents.com.
Where can I post my scores and laugh at people doing worse than me?Right here.

Seriously, fuck spinners.
So I've owned the game since the day it came out and I just found out today that you can start JJF right away by clicking on the thing in the upper right corner instead of playing it through the scenario before that...
I bet at least one person will benefit from this information and everyone else will just go DUUUUUUUH.
Like I've said before, you either need to be pressing really hard or be using a screwdriver or something to damage the thing.
I've been using a mechanical pencil :P
*raises hand*
I always found spinners to be a lot easier in Ouendan when I went counter clockwise and the habit carried over to EBA.
I'm a lefty. Spinning clockwise with my left-hand just feels weird.
Last night I got an all-300 run on YMCA (Breezin'), but still fell short of the high score because I can't accumulate enough spinner bonus.
There we go.
Chieftain > J.
And Kai > Ryuta.
But those guys are like the mascots or something.
They are the cover characters.
Depends on how it sells here. It's possible, I'd say. Maybe even a little likely.
No info on how it's selling yet?
This shit is like, totally insane.
BIZARRO
Note: I dont have wireless set up yet so I wont be able to add you just yet.
Its for sale in Japan?
I always assumed it was an American/Euro thing only, like Ouendan was Japanese only.
I'm basically replaying it and progressing through the song via memorization.
One of my biggest problems is the way I play right handed, I tend to miss hits on the deep right side because i didn't see them coming till after I missed it.
That and the spinner section in JJF. Not so much the spinners themselves but the really really really fast hits that I took me several dozen times to get the exact timeing down on. You can't miss just one, If I do I go down fast as I can't catch up in time and take 2-6 misses.
Edit: referring to JJF on Normal difficulty.
It's the number 1 selling game - for a single week in a single store. It didn't clock in on Media Create's top 30, and I doubt it broke the top 50 either. I just thought it was hilarious that it was the top seller - even if only in a single store - so I shared that.
Note: I dont have wireless set up yet so I wont be able to add you just yet.
It's the number one selling game for one specific chain that sells both Japanese and import games
Edit: What he said
Chieftain is a robot, no way he beats J reppin' the pomp.
Actually, though I didn't like Chieftan at first, I've come to like him quite a bit recently. Not as much as Kai from Ouendan, but still. I definetly like him more than J.
I used to tear them apart even at JJF.
But then all of a sudden I can't even do the one in Make No Difference as well as I used to.
The download stations have been replaced in a recent marketing update, it is now the Vegas level.
And the demo station in my store contains a full copy of Elite Beat Agents
Does anyone else get weird out-of-body experiences when playing EBA/Ouendan? When I'm in the zone I feel like I'm watching someone else play using my hands.
Note: I dont have wireless set up yet so I wont be able to add you just yet.
On another note, I beat YtI on Insane. Missed the S-Rank by a couple 300s again.
The second-to-last group of levels is killing me. I did tolerably well on Let's Dance but fucked up in the third section. Survivor and Anthem absolutely slaughter me, though.
Anyway, beat Survivor on Insane.
...and Anthem.
