About the outfit, yeah it looks like I'm sewing it, attaching two different patterns like you suggested with the shirt and skirt might be a good idea. I have to look at all the patterns before I got fabric shopping tommorow (hopefully).

Well won't be able to go fabric shopping till way past May, any weekends till after the 16 are booked. Got to go do spotlight and music for the highschool play going on. all afternnoons are booked untill after the show too seeing as I still got a ton of painting to do for the show as well.

well If I go to wal-mart or something I can look at boots or cheap LCD toys to build the poketch out of.

So a friend and myself were planning on a Vegas trip on halloween this year, and we were thinking of costumes for the even. Well we came up with going as Hank and Dean Venture (kinda obscure, and gets us around wearing masks and all that jazz in casinos and what not).

Then we had another brilliant idea, what better place to test run the costumes then at PAX.

    So heres my reasoning for posting here;
I would like to get some more involved in our costume effort, it would be insanely awesome to have a small group of people in Venture bros. costumes. Would really love to have a Monarch and Dr. Mrs. Monarch (extra awesome).Oh god and a Brock, but i don't know any body builders :(

So if your a Venture bros. fan hit me up so we can get in touch and figure some stuff out.

I've always wanted to get a Dynasty Warriors group up and going. Tried for sakura con a few times but, I'm generally too busy in April to make it. The hardest decision for me would be da qiao or zhen ji.. How I love them both...

Sweettt, I am so in for this....
I'm dressing as a medic from team fortress 2 for Anime Evolution up here in Vancouver so I might as well bring it down to PAX too!

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned, but has there been any talk of getting a team fortress group together? Because that would be pure awsome...

It was suggested but so far I haven't heard about any official get together. I might add a list to the op of TF2 cosplayers if people need some help getting together, or any other group that wants to form.

Yeah I third it (again) even though I'm the one who suggested it...
Were there any TF2 costumes floating around last year?
Anyone else planning on dressing as a TF2 char.?

Our meeting place should be at the Valve booth just for kicks!
Maybe they'll give everyone free stuff or something...

Alright, a thirded motion is good enough for me. If people could PM me confirming their class and team I'll put up a roster (it saves me having to trawl the thread for confirmations, and I'm lazy).

A small group of friends and I are debating whether we should dress up as TF2 characters or L4D. I could easily pull of Zoey, and my boyfriend would do hunter ( wink wink ), but the other special infected characters may be difficult (smoker, boomer, tank) without enough time and money.

edit: just PMed runwiled with my TF2 class choices (demoman and soldier). Depending on what other people want to play, I'd be willing to do either of those classes up until I start working on the costume this summer.

I'll probably do a Venture Bros. cosplay. I'm already planning to do Dean for Anime Evolution up in Vancouver. I might change that though if I can find another character I'm willing to try. I'll probably reuse it for PAX either way.

I'll have to keep an eye out for a blue medic at AE. I want to meet/know more people at PAX this year.

Me thinks this is going to be awsome! I'm coming as a red medic. But yes I'll PM runwiled too...

I'm expecting some L4D costumes. The game's enough of a hit that there are bound of be some costumes. Zoey costume would be awsome but it'd be easy to just pass off as a normal person. You'd have to have the costume spot on and having the right face and hair would help too.

Haha, well you could tell your boyfriend to start taking steroids now and maybe by PAX he'd be big enough to be a tank...

We need to coordinate on colors and decide if which weapons we're going to use (melee or gun).

Turns out I'll be doing TF2 with you guys, and I'll be doing L4D with another group of friends. I look fairly similar to Zoey, and it'd be pretty obvious if we're all walking around in a group. We could have some fun with medpacks or something. Ha, I'm not sure about the steroid thing though :P

Yeah like I said above, I'll be red. As for weapons I already have the medi-gun and pack made. It's gotta be ready for Anime Evolution con happening in June.

I'm planning on making an ubersaw or the needlegun as an alternative to the pack and gun. They're pretty heavy so It'll get tiring hauling it around the whole con. Plus I'm planning on having about 200 buttons with me too. Yeah, could get heavy real quick. But now I'm starting to ramble.
    But to sum up:
My Class and Colour Red Medic
Weapons/props Medi-gun and pack for now. Ubersaw/needlegun later on most likely...

Not sure on your monatary status, but i think it would awesome to have an antagonist to go along with our Hank and Dean (I.E. a Monarch, or even better a sgt. Hatred)

Or crap even a brock would be sweet as heck.

Ya I'm not sure how much I want to put into a costume this year. If I had the crafting skills it would be no problem, but I'm usually left with finding things that already look close to what I need, and doesn't turn out great. So I try to keep my costumes simple. Also I'm looking for more comfort at PAX, so giant monarch wings are out :P Perhaps Dr. Henry Killinger if I can modify my Dr. Horrible coat a bit...

Mine's almost done. A quick question, though... what's PAX's policy on prop weapons? Read: a prop revolver, with orange tip.

I mean, quoth PAX rules, "Don't bring anything that would annoy another attendee or set us up for a crazy lawsuit."

    That's a little vague.

Lyanth set up this Mini-FAQ about Prop Weapons on last year's CosPlay thread
    Lyanth wrote:
    PROP WEAPONS MINI-FAQ
Can I bring a weapon to PAX?

NO. DO NOT, under any circumstances, bring a weapon to PAX. As it has been discussed before, Washington State law says (roughly) that if someone feel threatened by an item, it is a weapon. Vague, I know. But we're all smart enough to know that bringing an actual weapon to PAX is a really bad idea. No real guns, sharp swords, etc. So if its real, it is just better to LEAVE IT AT HOME.

Can I bring a prop/fake weapon to PAX?

Potentially. A good rule of thumb is that the more fake it looks, the safer it is to bring to PAX. Paper maiche, PVC pipe, and foam can all be good prop weapon materials. Also, here are some good guidelines when thinking about bringing an prop to PAX:

    - No sharp edges. If it can cut/pierce any part of a cucumber, it's too sharp.
    - No pointy parts. It has to be about the same dullness as the corner of your keyboard.
    - No projectiles. If it can be shot, thrown, or otherwise launched into the air, no. Just no.
    - No really big things. If you can't carry it around for 25 minutes or its too large to fit though a 8ft x 3ft doorway, it's not a good idea.
    - No replicas. If it looks exactly like a weapon, most people will think it is one.

Can I bring a projectile prop weapon to PAX?

No. The Enforcers don't like anything that goes through the air. If you outfit demands that you have some form of projectile, attach it to your belt and leave it at that.

Can I pose with others with my prop weapon at PAX?

Ask the person you are posing with. Don't just randomly wave your prop at people because:
    1) They might feel threatened and then your prop is a weapon
    2) You could actually hit someone or hurt a bystander.

Be aware of your surroundings when you pose (don't stop in the middle of a busy hallway), and make sure you work with the people around you to be safe and make for a cool picture.
