So, slight update on the corporate thievery guy.

He sent a lackey in to return the papers. Said lackey hid them inside some grills, then threw the rest in between my dog food H-frames.

    I was not pleased.

Ok, so I saw the shirtless reggie Wii shirt in the backroom today, and my manager said something about how they were part of a deal for customers, and I could just buy one? Anyone know how to get one?

We've started to keep a log of customers requesting PS3s... We record the times of day; we're at around 50 per day now. Our store didn't get any.

    So.

Anyone working at Target? How about Bestbuy or Gamestop?

Judging by what you've heard of customers asking, and judging by the numbers you are expecting of the Wii when it comes in...

Should I head out and line up tonight, or would it be cool if I just head down an hour before opening tomorrow?

No lines, and supposedly only a few people asking about them at my local Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy. The 24 hour walmart guy was a little unclear whether he'd give me a console at midnight or not, so I am going down there tonight to check. Midnight > 8 am.

Yeah, so has anyone heard any numbers on how many Wii's most stores are getting?

I think on average most places were getting 10-15 PS3's with BestBuys getting closer to 50 per store.... at least up here in Canada.

I'm just wondering how crazy it will be tomorrow (and if I want to try and go get one...)

Don't bother with Gamestop. Reserves only at midnight, but they all should have more for black friday.

I hear Wal-Mart and Target are the way to go.

Edit: Speaking of, my DM is all pissed that a bunch of us are doing midnight opens. He said absolutely not, was threatening us to not do them, etc. So the ARN call goes out (complete with Reggie talking!) that we'll be open at midnight...

What does he want us to tell our customers who get that call? :P

She's asked me to look up the stock of her former employer in the newspaper to see how it's doing. I didn't see it but I pointed out that there is both a phone number and a website. Boy did she ream me a new one about the internet.

I work for Best Buy, and I can give you some answers, seeing as they're fairly common knowledge anyway.

Judging by what I've heard and looked up, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a Wii during launch week. Launch day may be a little hectic, but launch week will see things roll out smoothly. Our store has over 100 in the store already, and apparently over 60 more on order (to come either tuesday or thursday). Seeing as we don't have anyone lined up outside our store, and have no plans for an early opening for launch, I think it will be a lot less dramatic then the PS3 launch.

Most best buy stores in my district got around 20 PS3's (15:5 ratio of 60's to 20's) but our store is a high profile store so we got about double that. Needless to say we're sold out.

I say what I say not in the official sense, but more in the sense that if I could get the discount on a new system (not that I'm going to try, I lack the funds) it would be more worth it to buy the console at that rate and be fired then to not buy the console at that rate and not be fired.
You see where I am with this?

I work at Amazon.com customer service. In case you don't know, Target's website is hosted by Amazon, and we handle a lot of their shipping (target.direct). Today, some fool in marketing flipped the switch on the (apparently nonexistent in this hemisphere) 20gb PS3 product page proclaiming "In stock. Ships from and sold by Target." You may have heard about/seen this.

I worked a 6a-5p shift, and tons of people called about this in this manner:

I'll do you one better. People used to call me at Gamestop, to ask me questions about the store next door. "What time do they open?" "Do you know what their phone number is?" "Do they carry _____?"

What the fuck? Who does that?

That happened one day while I was waiting to be rung up at EBStop. The guy was on the phone for five minutes with someone while I patiently waited. I asked out of curiosity what that was about, sensing an amusing story. It turned out that no one was answering the phone next door at Kay-Bee and the guy wanted my lovely register biscuit to go over there and tell them to answer the phone.
