I cannot get a Handful of Rose Petals, Silver Shafted Arrows, or Love Rockets at all. I've got the Lovely Black Dress 3 times, an assload of Love Fools, and some boxes of candy, but none of the three I need for the achievements.
Let me repeat that: I got the Lovely Black Dress 3 times, and none of those common items. Did Blizzard screw up the RNG or something?
Gotta love that RNG. That sounds a lot like the first Headless Horseman event. "Hey, this Horseman's Helm is the rarest item of the event". I saw it drop so many times, people were bringing in alts so it didn't go to waste.
Conversely, number of times I SAW the Squashling pet drop?
0. Zero. None. Out of 82 attempts, I never SAW it drop.
Thought I'd ask, what's a good price and server size to order for a ventrilo server? Was thinking of setting up one for my guild but would like some input on what hosting service folks use and found reliable/cheap. Thanks for any input.
I can't remember where I rented mine, but it was only like $5 a month, and it was far bigger than my guild would have needed with decent quality. Make sure you get the high-quality sound, though... it makes a huge difference, and it sucks when everyone sounds like a robot.
I'm currently looking at darkstar since they offer a 35 person server for around $11/month, less if I rent multiple months. I figure that'd give us a 25 man raid channel and still some leftover room for instances or people to hang out. How big was the server for $5/month and if anyone else has any suggestions, I'd be grateful for any advice.
Two of my previous guilds have gone with Darkstar vent servers and they were nothing but a hassle. It might have been the region, though, since both of those guilds were Oceanic and (I believe) they chose local servers. One of the guilds reverted to an American host, and in the other guild we wished we would but whoever rented it paid up way ahead, so we just suffered through the crashes.

Thanks for the info. Darkstar seems to have the lowest prices I've seen but if their servers aren't that stable I may hold off on using them. Anyone else have experience with them or maybe with typefrag's servers? They're the other host I'm looking at but their prices were about 30% higher than darkstar's.

If the RNG is screwing you over, you can get rockets/petals/arrows from turning in all those pledge items to Peddlefeet. It's a stupid amount of grinding, but you can at least grind it.

We have a 15 man vent from this host http://www.instantventrilo.com/ Have had it for about a year now, have had issues maybe 3 times in that span of time, and when it did go down it was only down for about 5 minutes. Other than that it's been great.
It looks like it's cheaper than Darkstar for the smaller sizes, but more expensive for the larger.

Yeah, except you can't grind the bag of candy. Last thing I need. I can only try once an hour. It suuucks.
My memory is that they took about 2 and a half hours or so. I'm not sure if thats too long, but some of them did have too much trash.
Which is ironic as running Shattered Halls with a prot paladin in later BC was like the "Want five badges in twenty minutes?" go-to instance. My ex-bf ran it, like, daily.
Agreed. Insta-gibbing because the druid/warrior tank had no way (talking early BC here) to reliably hold aggro on 6 mobs was the suck.
Because you either
1) ran with a paladin tank
2) Brought ONLY classes that could CC in the instance you wanted to do
People say this but it wasn't true across the board. I did all my TK attunement heroic runs with a warrior tank. CC was occasionally a mage, sometimes hunter traps if you count that, but our warrior MT back then was just good. I wouldn't have wanted to do it with just any warrior, and paladins sure had it easier, but good warriors were fine in early BC heroics.
Well there's always exceptions, but I think we were talking mostly about pugging stuff
I wouldn't say the problem was mostly with the tanks either, it was with trigger happy DPS, mostly AOErs.
Like aoe mage pullers? Oh I loved those guys "Here let me open that big pull with a blizzard, then I'll cone of cold and blink run around the whole time using arcane explosion screaming take it off me."

I was always impressed by the ones who could both run around in circles AND type out messages demanding the tank save them. If only they could channel that kind of talent for good.
Nethaera: Why do players need to be max level in order to do this?
Ghostcrawler: We didn’t want to burden lower-level players with extra complexity as they’re working to level up and learn their class. But if the feature proves popular we might consider expanding it.
Oh, oh thanks guys. I don't know how I would have ever managed two whole specs, I'll just stick with the ol' simple and easy method, of not getting into any instance groups ever because I can't find a fucking healer and tank.
I assume it was also too confusing and complex to allow switching outside of the capital cities(without a scrivener).

So dual specs will be completely useless for instancing while leveling? That's just awesome, and by awesome I mean rotten beaver guts.
I mean, as a whole, considering the relatively cheap cost of respeccing at 80, I'd say the problem was quite a bit more significant while levelling, than at 80.
Well, in most cases with leveling instances offspecs can still do decent enough, and you always have the option of getting a higher level friend to join you.
I also like how they handled the spec-swap so that it's not something you'll be seeing between every pull (though it still is possible for the overly obsession if they wished to do it that way).
Also of interest, hunters are apparently getting the ability to remotely access the stables to swap out pets (though this ability has a "long cooldown"). I guess that's kind of a necessity of dual-specs if a Hunter swapped between BM and Surv and his Corehound poofed.
In other news, how do you think the new Emblems of Conquests will work out? From what I can gather, 25-man Ulduar will have the Conquest emblems, 10-man will have the Valor emblems, and Ulduar simply won't drop Heroism emblems. I guess this is to prevent the BC situation of people farming heroics and Kara to get Sunwell badge gear, and ensures the emblems you are spending is getting items at the proper level.

Druids kinda suck at tanking alot while leveling, and I can't heal worth a damn off-spec, especically since it was a fresh 70 when WOTLK came out. And No one want's feral DPS, no matter how good it's gotten.
This patch would have got my Druid to 80 if DualsTHE ICE STONE IS MELTING!

I've been thinking about this myself, and the only thing that I can think of that would suck about the above would be that, conceivably, you wouldn't be able to obtain the T8 chest or gloves with badges. That is, unless they made those obtainable with Valor badges which would an odd choice, because then people would pass right over T7.5 badge stuff for those.
Also how do druids suck at tanking when they're leveling up? You don't even change your gear really.

Bah, typo. I meant "wouldn't be able to buy T8 gear with badges". Tier 8.5 yes, T8, not sure unless they added it to the Valor vendor which again would imbalance things a bit.
So dual specs will be completely useless for instancing while leveling? That's just awesome, and by awesome I mean rotten beaver guts.
This is so dumb. They really think, like, it's a burden on a level 75 character to deal with two specs? Being able to spec heal/tank and DPS while leveling would be so useful.
Also I wonder how much this "fee" to enable dual specs will be.
Also, in before 3.1 is on the PTR for six fucking months because they're putting in rampant class changes and Ulduar and dual specs and apparently built-in ItemRack all in one big patch... Ugh. Remember voice chat? Fuck off, Blizzard, patch more often.

What? How exactly do feral druids suck at tanking or am I totally misunderstanding what your saying?
Well it doesn't defeat the point, people at 80 still respec all the time to do dailies, BGs, arena, whatever, not just mid-raid instance. But it's dumb that it doesn't also allow people leveling the same benefits.

That seems like it would work okay to me. It fits the model of having a progression path for both 10-man and 25-man raiders. Of course, this assumes that they'll be correcting it so that the 25-man is harder than the 10-man to account for the 25-man having the better gear.
I'm having this bug where I can't loot anything, nor open my locked boxes (I am a rogue) it says it only needs 1 skill so I have no idea what the problem is with either of the problems.
I can totally see Blizz making the "fee" to use dual specs some stupid amount like 1k gold. Thing is, I'm a lock, so dual specs don't really interest me that much. If I had to pay 1k, forget it. If its something lower, I might, just so I can have the option.
Well to give you an idea of how expensive respecs are to me, I have spent something like 650g so far on respecs alone (according to the statistics tab in my achievements).
Druids rock at tanking while leveling due to tons of Feral talents overlapping for both DPS and tanking.
Yeah any tank really does. I used to tank BC instances prior to 70 on my warrior as a fury. So I don't get the complaint, especially since they made instancing easier than it was.
Just another privledge for being max level.
