Hey guys, I need some help with my computer gaming. My pals and me had trouble connecting to each other on battlenet for to play diablo2, so they are now using a gateway editor or some such. I am only a Lvl 3 Internets, so I dont know what these things are, googling didnt help my understanding much... are they ok to use? I dont want to download random software, I am mightily suspicious of virii and other internet beasties.

Thanks muchly

B.net will work, they might have to open some ports. Have them trying connecting (or you) without a router and see if that works. Also make sure that the firewall is allowing the game and b.net. Now if all that does not work I would just use hamachi, I do not even know what a gateway editor is but I am guessing it is some sort of emulated b.net which sounds like you pirated the game which would be stupid to use if you did not pirate it.

Just to clarify what fizban said:

If you've all got legit copies of the game, Bnet should have no problem hosting you all. There's no "connecting to eachother" as Bnet is a server and hosts each connection individually.

If you've got pirated copies of the game, you'll need Hamachi to create a virtual Bnet, with which I have no experience and cannot be of help.

No, my game is not pirated, we are trying to connect via IP as we couldnt create a working game in normal battlenet. I will have a meddle with firewalls and routers, thanks for your help.
