The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Welcome to Super Mario Galaxy deathmatch. The video more or less explains it all. Near-zero-g worlds in which your little ninja robot jumps around brutally killing other little ninja robots.
File is about 40 megs and is available here:
Once in, anyone can jump straight in and play, and anyone can host a room. Recommend games of about 4-5 people.
Co-ordinating games isn't going to be so easy. Just host a game called 'Penny Arcade' and post in the thread, I suppose. I recommend blue-dotting this with an ingame name and checking every now and then to see if someone's started a match.
It's a nice idea, but it's almost unplayable for me. The camera keeps getting stuck "upside down" and so left is right, up is down, etc. Then it gets stuck in a piece of the level and i can't see anything after that.
I do believe it says in the download link that it's in beta. Mostly I don't know how the attacks really work, if they're homing, and why it seems that others can kill me when it looks like I'm hitting them. I suppose I just haven't figured out the shenanigans of this game yet.
Is anyone else having trouble logging on? I enter a name, and press login, but nothing happens, the screen just stays, allowing me to keep pressing the login button, to no avail.
I want to like this game, but it's kinda hard. The camera controls are horrible. When the camera goes upside down it's just plain disorienting and if I manage to move it to a top down perspective, my little guy begins to move in the complete opposite direction of what I'm pressing.
The camera is a fragile and delicate creature. We will no doubt need to put it down and create a new beast in its place. The problems you mention are some of the most high priority ones to fix.
it is a pretty cool idea, and it's pretty to jump around in, but the combat is basically spamming the attack button as fast as you can and vaguely aiming at their nametags since you can't really see what's going on.
Would probably be a lot funner if you can't spam the attack so much.
This game is madness, but it is kind of fun once you get the hang of it. It feels like the camera is never looking at what I want it too though. And am I the only one who feels the gamepad controls are the exact opposite of what you expected?
Well I was finally able to get a game in tonight and I wonder, can you even consider this a game? It's just total button mashing chaos, with the hope that you'll kill something and then you can kill yourself fast enough.
I figured out why this game is so hard to play and makes me sick. The camera is constantly upside down whenever I join someone else's game. If I host my own it's right side up. Hope they come up with a fix.

When I was trying to play, it would randomly change between being normal and being upside down when I was killed. Unfortunately it was upside down more often than not.
Yeah after browsing their forums it seems they know about the problem. Apparently they've been trying to fix it for awhile, but will probably have to rewrite most of the code for the camera.
So, you’re playing the beta, happily jumping around charging into your fellow robots. Suddenly, and without warning, you are struck with an incredible idea for a Plain Sight level. But alas! You have no way of ever realising your dream. The idea will surely be lost forever...
Wait a second! Scribble down your plan on a side of A4 and then scan it, or take a photo with a digital camera. Upload it to ImageShack and then post your idea on the forum.
We’ll pick our favourite level design, create it in 3d and throw it into the game for everyone to play in the final release! Just like that.
The competition will run until we pull the plug on the beta, so get scribbling!

Edit: It might have to be a 360 gamepad. M+Keyboard it is I guess!
Edit 2: This might also be more fun when I can figure out how to make my camera unstuck from behind me and upside down.
Flippy, I'd recommend changing it to a [Game on] since.... that's what this is?
Then again, I only played for 15 minutes.
Downloading now, gonna try it out based on trailer.

I'm LewieP in game.
EDIT: Ok, it seems that the developer is aware that the camera has some issues.

dream a little dream or you could live a little dream
sleep forever if you wish to be a dreamer
Not to mention I'm extremely bored.:|
Oh well. *shrugs*
Had the same problem. After running the installer, run the setup.exe file. Repair the install.
Worked for me.

That's an interesting thought.

It didn't work for me either.
But then I read the readme, and it was all "install setup first"
And I was, ohhhhhh.
Uninstall the program and install using setup.exe, not the .msi
If you did use .exe, then ???
