Windows Media Player won't run in my browser

For some reason, videos in WMP format just won't play for me. I've reinstalled WMP 11, gotten the Active X 1.5 plug in, and updated Adobe Flash player.

I've done this 3 times, yet the problem persists. I've tried watching clips from various sites in Firefox, Netscape, and IE with no results. Does anyone know what might be wrong? I need to see Metalocalypse dammit!

You could try installing VLC - I think there was an option to install an ActiveX browser plugin in the setup.

VLC can play .wmvs and almost any other video format.

Does WMP load at all? Do other formats, like quicktime, play?

Yup. Youtube, Google Video, Quicktime, Realplayer and others all work fine. It's just WMP that isn't working, which makes this even more frustrating and puzzling.
