Coldplay.
Barf!
I mean: Good for you!
Personally, I don't care if Band Hero is going in a more pop-oriented direction. The big problem, one we've already covered, is that it really doesn't distinguish itself much from GH5. I hardly think being less 'hard' music-wise is really enough.
Snow Patrol? In a pop game? I mean, I like Snow Patrol, but that seems for an odd choice since they're going for the giggly supermodel crowd.
I can kinda see where they're coming from. Snow Patrol's stuff isn't terribly difficult on any instrument, maybe drums or vocals for one or two of their songs but other than that it's overall a fairly popular band with relatively easy to medium songs.
So, in a game that's 'family friendly' it sounds ideal. Mind you, Snow Patrol are not a happy band by any means. Even their newest album, which they were quoted as trying to "Bring forth a more positive and cheerful sound" it still sounds incredibly depressing. I don't think Snow Patrol know how to write happy music.
Info came from here. Other confirmed bands - Snowpatrol, The Killers.

It makes sense; Band Hero seems to be less "Lego Rock Band audience" and more "VH1 Top 20 Countdown audience." Stuff you'd hear on a typical Top 40 radio station.
Publisher Activision-Blizzard has been taking advantage of the "Hero" franchise for some time now, and with good reason. The series has so far seen over $2 billion in sales, and with the upcoming release of Guitar Hero 5 and DJ Hero this autumn, the franchise looks set to become even more of a cash-cow for the publisher. There was another upcoming Hero title that did the rounds on the rumour mill recently, Band Hero. Not much information is known about it, except that it will be a family-friendly entry into the series, feature more top 40 hits than previous Guitar Hero games, and will work on consoles with instruments from other music games.
The game features an all new drum-grip.
Now, Activision has confirmed that Band Hero will be coming to the DS Lite. Previous retail listings showed the game on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii, but made no mention of a DS version. The game will allow gamers to not only play guitar but also vocals and drums on the portable. The much-maligned guitar-grip from the previous Guitar Hero on Tour titles makes a return, as well as an "innovative" new drum-grip.
According to Activision Band Hero will also feature a new multiplayer mode, allowing gamers to play with any combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocals with friends, as previously announced for Guitar Hero 5, but the megapublisher did not explain how this would be implemented on the DS platform. 30 master recordings will feature in the game, and include artists such as Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, The Killers, KT Tunstall, and Fall Out Boy. Other features include a Rockstar Editor for customising band members, plus No Fail and Stage Stunts modes.
No release date for the title has been announced, but GameSpot will bring you more news as information on the title becomes available.

I'd construct a situation such that everyone died at the exact same moment so that we could attack whatever afterlife there happens to be en masse and so take it over and create a perfect unending afterlife existence. Also, everyone who wanted one would have an afterlife pony.
Incidentally, I went to Gamestop yesterday, and the area behind the cash register was ringed by dozens of fake boxes for Guitar Hero 5, DJ Hero and Band Hero.
Yep, Activision's going out of their way to make people confused by/sick of the whole Hero thing.

It's all part of their master plan. Once everyone is sick of the Hero series, they'll revamp it with those Villain titles they trademarked a year or two ago.
cloudeagle: Man, what are you talking about? Chicks totally dig Snow Patrol, and they definitely have a pop sound; they are the epitome of the kind of band I'd expect to see in Band Hero.

Snow Patrol's "Take Back the City" is up for download on Rock Band, and it's pretty good fun, if a little repetitive like most of their stuff.

Right, but Snow Patrol isn't a band most of the mainstream would recognize right off the bat.

Huh? Snow Patrol was so absurdly overplayed on top 40 radio for a while that I would be surprised by a typical mainstream music listener not knowing them. They were inescapable.

That drum grip is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen. How does it even work?
You... press the colored buttons to correspond with the colored icons when they cross the line? I mean, it's a guess, but I'm fairly confident. It seems like the sort of thing they'd do. You could probably even put the DS on a table and then use your index and middle fingers on separate buttons.

Pretty much. I don't spend a lot of time on stations that normally play them, but they are fairly common.

My guess? Just like the fret button adapter. Only, in this case, you could place the index and middle fingers of both hands over the pads and press away. FCs galore!
Really, the design decision to add a peripheral to a handheld that removes it from the hand seems kind of...dumb.

Yeah, that band was everywhere a short while ago. They had the "If I lay here / If I just lay here / Will you lie with me and just forget the world?" song that was on tons of major top 40 radio stations here in the NYC metro area.
Well, I mean, if we assume that you press the buttons to...activate the notes, I guess you'd say, then what is that picture of a drum kit on the touch screen there for? And what about the kick pedal?

Either/or? And no kick pedal in DS. Unless you have to yell something into the mic... The GH games only had four frets anyway. It's just a bad idea and you're probably reading too much into it.
So are we ever going to play World Tour together? As far as I know we have

I need until next Saturday, that's when I get paid and it means I can buy Live.
Hrm, in fact I might need a few more days 'cos I'm buying it off Ebay and I'm using Paypal...it WILL happen, I swear! It's just taking a little longer than I anticipated.
Damn you unexpected expenses!
Also, the picture of the drum kit might be there as some sort of indicator as to what you've just hit. Like, you hit the yellow pad the cymbal shakes. Or maybe you can play with your stylus and not need the peripheral? Also, you might not have to put your DS down for that. Just use your thumbs to play?

I'm not really ever on Live when I actually play my 360, except when I need to be when I want to access some songs when playing this or Rock Band. I haven't really played that much lately though, so I haven't been on very much lately. So basically whenever you want to play or can get a group together you're gonna have to let me know on here in the thread or with a PM, and I'm around at the time and able to play then I'd hop on. I can play expert guitar/bass and medium drums, whichever you want.

Band Hero exists because Brian Bright said that they wanted to make Guitar Hero titles more guitar centric from now on, starting with 5. Therefore, Band Hero is the game that's going to be more band centric. Basically, vocal hero with more instruments.
Which, oddly enough, also makes it generally A: More family centric and B: More pop centric and C: A lot easier than previous Hero titles. A = B = C = A ect.

Same engine, same features, same everything. With different songs and I assume, different stages.
And songs that won't be cross-compatible for GH:5 I assume. Hrm. One step forward, one step sideways.

And did they just say that Band Hero was compatible with multiple instruments with a custom avatar creator...on the DS?

Or FCs?
'Cos my preference is in that order. :P
But maybe that's just me....
There's a couple achievements I want to go for but other than that just fun. Unless someone else wants to go for FCs, in which case I'll play along.
To Glithert: Eeeeexcellent....it's all going according to plan....
And if I play we're going for FCs goddamnit.
...At some point. Message me next time you see me online.
