Computer wil not fully start!

My computer has been unable to load past that black windows loading screen.
To explain how my computer came to this point:
I got a virus, and about 2 weeks after infection, my computer would freeze up within a minute of the desktop loading.

Initially, the virus affected primarily my google searches. I would be redirected to some random ad ware type of website whenever I clicked on a search result.
Once the virus began to freeze up my computer, right after the desktop loaded, my friend was over and tried to fix my computer by starting up the system restore, before the virus spiked my memory and froze up my PC.

He tried, he failed, turned off the computer, turned it back on, and then from that point on, I kept getting a blue screen error message called "stop error screen" every time I start my computer, it does not even go to the desktop as it did before, it would freeze up right after the windows loading screen.
at the bottom it says Technical information: 0x0000007B (0xF7A5F524, 0xC00000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The message also says that "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer"

To try and fix this problem, I've tried putting in a windows CD and attempted to boot from the CD, that did not work. The fies started to load fine until the installation got to the point where it said it was "preparing to load windows", at which point my computer went back to the blue screen error message.
I also tried to boot the program DBAN off of my USB drive, that too did not work. This attempt resulted in a "failure to load operating system" response from windows.
WHAT THE HELL IS CAUSING THIS FAILURE TO READ MY OPERATING SYSTEM AND HARDDRIVE!?

Has anyone had a problem like this before?
Is anyone able to fix this problem?
Is there still hope to fix my computer and reformat it, or is it time to get the shovel out and start digging its grave?

Please please PLEASE help, I don't know how much longer I can survive using the computers at my library...

this is what you need dude.

edit: specifically you have to reformat and reinstall windows most likely. you can go through the other options it lists but if it is a virus and you can not load windows, then you need to format and reinstall. which you can find here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313348/

Just a note, you might be able to get your files off via a linux live CD and an external HD but be warned, if you have a widespread virus, some of your files might be contaminated :(

EDIT: since I probably wasn't being clear, I recommend orbital bombardment.

Yearrruuugh . It is extremly likely that your entire HD is off-limits by now. I would do a full-wipe and reformat from a windows CD. This is not the end of the world, except you've just lost everything on your drive.

Please do not let virii run on your computer for such a long time. They're extremly unstable programs that will no matter what eventually crash your computer.

    Dunadan,
When I put the Windows setup CD into the computer, I make my computer boot from CD, but it does not work either. The setup starts, but then crashes after loading the setup files.
It says "Windows Setup" at the top left, then it says "set up is loading files...." at the bottom, however, once the files are loaded, it says "setup is running windows" at the bottom, and then my computer freezes up and goes to that error message.
I am unable to fully access the setup menu and partition my HDD because whenever the setup starts running windows, my computer freezes.
is there a way to partition a hdd without running windows?

Ultimately, it appears that I need to simply reformat my hard drive or at the very least partition it and work it out from there. But reformatting or partitioning must be done without actually running windows.

7b is inaccessible boot device. Either the hdd is toast, or it has the wrong / missing ide or sata drivers. Check the bios and make sure the drive is there, and what type it is. If it is sata, get the floppy drivers and press f6 during bootup from a windows cd. Enter the drivers and then do an emergency repair. Re-install all service packs afterwards.

If that seems like too much trouble, just do a clean install.

Partitioning a hard drive that has info on it is possible with a not-very-cheap program like Partition Magic, but you're likely to corrupt most of the data on the drive in the process unless you are seriously anal about defragging constantly, so there's not much point. The chips are in the pot already. Reformatting means you gain hard drive space that is already lost. Just bite the bullet.

oh god I have to go do that right now

Stigweard you called it with the inaccessible boot device. I left the part in the story where my friend who tried to system restore just hopelessly goes "i think im just gonna turn everything on." (perhaps we shouldnt have been on that pipe while working on the computer) I realized after he left however, when i was getting an error unable to detect fdisk message on start up that he may have screwed around too much, because I dont have a floppy drive, which he changed to "on" meaning I do have one. So my computer was trying to detect sata slots and drives that did not even exist.
I had thought that i reset everything he did though so I didn't think much about that being the current problem.

Anyway you're telling me to boot from windows CD and hit F6 as it is loading up? and that should solve things as long as i reinstall service packs and drivers after formatting?

If you don't have a floppy drive, you probably installed the system last time by setting the sata drive to ide compatibility mode in the bios (ide instead of ahci or raid - check your manual to know for certain). You'll need to do the same again, or find instructions on slipstreaming the sata drivers for your board into the windows cd.

Unless you have a really shit motherboard, it should be ignoring any enabled devices which aren't connected. "Unable to detect fdisk" should mean your computer is looking for the floppy, not finding it, and moving on. Any troubles experienced afterward wouldn't be related.

A re-format would be recommended. You could repair your Windows installation, but if that virus is still there then and is being triggered by programs other than windows (Firefox or IE are the most likely culprits) it will only be a matter of time until the new installation is corrupted. Save what you need on an external or a flash drive or something and wipe the HDD thoroughly.

REformat. Since you can't boot to the disc, DBAN that ho. That will completely erase EVERYTHING off your HDD, so software being to blame goes out the window. Then just reload the OS

yo I did attempt to DBAN that ho, but everytime I would make it boot from USB I would get an error with a message along the lines of being unable to read or detect operating system or hard drive
I'm gonna see whats up with the slipstreaming a friend of mine also suggested trying that

what do ya'll think of this,
I just started downloading ubuntu 8.10 desktop, I'm gonna burn the image file onto a cd, put it into my defective PCs cd rom drive and make it boot from cd.
it should run straight up on the desktop with no problems correct?
and then i could run dban off of my flash drive and shit should be solved, i just gotta wait a minute for ubuntu to finish downloading.
    that plan sound proper?

I don't see why you need DBAN. Your Windows installation disks have a perfectly sufficient reformatting utility. Start the installation and there will be a section where it asks you to designate where you want Windows installed. You'll be able to select any partition, erase any partition, and reformat anything you want.

I'd recommend creating a separate partition for just Windows as well, so if this happens again you can reformat just that partition and keep all your old data when you reinstall.
