Halo 3 Skulls Achievements

I don't get an achievement or an unlock or anything when I find a skull. Anyone know what might be wrong? D:

    Make sure you're playing on the appropriate difficulty. I think you have to be on Normal in order to get credit.

    Yes, I'm picking them up. And the achievement says on normal or higher, and I'm playing heroic.
    Is there a difference between the 'solo game' option and the 'campaign' option on the main menu? I've tried both but to no avail. D:

    Are you playing the level all the way from the beginning (ie "Mission Start" and not "Rally Point" whatever)?

    That's about all I can think of for what would be stopping you.

    Some skulls just don't give an achievement. I think the "gold" ones are the only ones that do. Specifically the ones that tend to alter the game's difficulty in some way. The ones that are there for fun like the birthday party one or the extra dialog lines don't.

    Some skulls are not achievements; there is no indication of retrieval.
