Study Abroad Loans

Heyo,

First off, a little background. I'm a sophomore in an undergrad International Relations: Developing World program. I'm going to a state school in the SUNY system, mostly because it's an excellent school for the cost and anything else was pretty much off the table for financial reasons. Which brings me to my problem.

I absolutely need to study abroad. About 95% of my major goes abroad for a while, and I would feel absolutely ashamed of myself if I graduated with a degree in IR having only lived in the United States and visited Canada a few times. However, the aforementioned financial situation is the roadblock, here. I'm sure with my grades I could probably get some kind of scholarship for the purpose of studying abroad, but the ones my school offers won't cover the entirety of a trip.

So, my plan for a while was to get some extra student loans outside of the Federal Stafford Non-Subbed specifically to get a few more foreign state stamps in my passport. However, given the banking crisis, I don't know if that's a reasonable expectation or not any longer. I'd like to take out the cost of a program, plus a little bit extra to cover the opportunity cost of leaving my job for a few months - without the income of a summer job, I wouldn't have enough spending cash to make it through the school year.

Will I be able to get loans to cover a study abroad program?

tl;dr - I want to study abroad but I'm concerned I won't be able to get loans for this purpose given the state of the banking system. Are my concerns justified?
